Great video, even with something seemingly simple, you've given lots of very helpful tips. Being really picky I see you pull the file across the wire ends, rather than pushing, but I guess it doesn't make much difference in this situation.
It is so funny, I bought a pair of these 12 or so years ago and they were 18 g so I ended up giving them away. I always looked for good instructions online to try with 20 g. Thank you so much! ❤🎉
Nice tutorial, but I would have liked to see a photo of the completed earrings in the ear. I used to use 1mm (18 gauge) wire when making earwires, but then some people complained that it was too thick, so I downsized to 20 gauge.
Jess thank you so much for such an informative video - great for beginners like me. Could you please tell me what size mm wire that you used? Thanks again and keep up the good work!
I've sold thousands of earrings made with 1mm wire - I've never had anyone have issues with it. I do disclose that it's a bit thicker than usual in the item description. I myself wear them all the time.
I can’t do an 18 gauge in my ears either. After an hour or so I have to take them out. But I wish I could wear an 18 gauge for designs I’d like to make. If I’m making a simple ear wire 21 gauge is my preferred gauge. If doing a earring that incorporates going through the ear as a one piece design I use 20 gauge.
These remind me of a pair made by James Avery that I love! But I can’t afford the price tag. I’ll be making those today!

I just came across this video. What a thorough, easy to follow video, Jess! Such lovely earrings. Thanks so much for sharing this process!
Glad it was helpful!

Good luck - it's hard to do this with anything thinner than 1mm, but I'd like to hear how you go!
Great tutorial - thank you!
Thank you so much that was a wonderful easy to understand tutorial
Glad it was helpful!
It was fun watching you make these. Always fascinating to see what goes into a particular craft. I enjoyed the background wildlife sounds too, haha. 😄
Yep, those birds don't know how to be quiet :D
Great video / tutorial! The earrings came out beautiful!
Thanks!
Cute earrings!
Thank you! 😊

love it. Is it possible to do this with steel or is it too hard:
I think it would be too hard.
I know I saw these on Etsy, but I'm not sure it was by you (?).

I used 1mm wire!
Yo conozco mis ideas y mis trabajos
Some people do both wires at the same time…
Yo conozco mi trabajo
Surprised you used 1mm most would consider that way to thick to pass through ear piercings.

@@JessVanDen Not meant to be a criticism just going by the "industry standard" and thought a bit unusual.
@@JessVanDenI am just starting out with wire and have been using 1 mm as well-fits piercings just fine.
I always use 18 gauge wire for my earring findings.
