If you analize the match, you will see that actually Ma Lin played alone. After 2:0 he attacked every time almost every shot. Tan made many mistakes. On the other side Samsonov and Smirnov played more like a team. Anyway it was a pleasure to watch. Thanks to the poster

Actually Tan played well, bearing in mind on one hand he is partnering an Olympic champion and world champion (both singles and doubles) MA Lin, and his opponents were top class players too, not to mention Samsonov has been men's World champion for many years. Given the mounting pressure, he played well. Of course, MA Lin without a doubt is a genius especially in doubles. How he took advantage of the changing tides, and how he played alongside the under pressure TAN, is simply remarkable.
