Sure... except Awkwafina may not wear blackface, but it’s undeniable that her act has relied on a caricature of African Americans. What’s disappointing is that Awkwafina fiercely opposes the stereotypical Asian accent and understands the hurtfulness of tacky impersonations. In an interview with Broadly she even explained that performing the accent would make her feel like she’s “making a minstrel out of [her] people.” hypocrites are the worst.
Awkwafina's mom was friends with my parents. I didn't know a lot about Korean culture but her mom taught me. I hope I can thank Awkwafina some day & let her know what a difference her mom had on my life.
For some people, moments like that are like having a rash you can't ignore and vitiligo you can't hide on the same spot. It can be soul-crushing if you can't turn your perspective around.

The amazing thing about Sean isn't that he asks questions that we all want to hear. No. He asks questions that we didn't know we'd actually be interested in hearing a response to. So our interest becomes just as peaked as the interviewee. It's genuinely intelligent journalism.
Unlike primetime TV talk shows, on this show, the interviewee is primary and the promotion is secondary. When the person it real, due to chilli, they become relatable and the promotion sells itself. Fire.
