I followed your directions 10 days ago and I've now got hundreds of teeny tiny green plants. What a miracle! I usually spend over $200 each year on petunias! The seeds only cost me $6. The grow lights cost me $40 and the trays cost me $10! So I'm already away ahead! Thanks so much for sharing your skills!
I've watched so many videos on planting, but must say this is by far the best how to plant and finish I have seen , Thank you from Wollongong Australia.
Thank you so much for the lovely video. Cheers from Wisconsin USA. With all that's happening in this crazy world and our country as well, gardening is a wonderful and much needed escape ♡
I’m going to collect seeds from my beautiful petunias this year and will hopefully have all of my window boxes the same next year thanks to watching this. I have some in one window box now that are the most beautiful shades of pink I have ever seen. I planted them with a similar colour pink geranium and they look stunning together. Thank you for the tutorial.
You are right that pinching out the early buds really helps them to get big. I like to pinch mine until they are about the size of a baseball cap up to maybe a bowling ball in plumpness then let them finally go crazy with blooms. Forcing them to focus on making leaves for a while makes a much more vigorous plant.
So I’ve been doing a bit of gardening myself lately and have been trying to plant seeds from the beginning and have had some issues with them dying after they started growing but your video has helped me with that part. So definitely wanted to tell you that you’ve done a great job.
First time trying to plant petunias by seed. I found so many germinate together. Your video helped me know that that is okay and that it should be transplanted. I will save a lot this year with so many seedlings and relieve stress as I do. Thank you.
Starting petunias from seed this year. Thanks for this video. I just learned today that the bulbs have seeds in them once they die now I have plenty of seeds to plant
There are a lots of video on how to grow petunias from seeds but yours is the only one I saved on my my watchlist. Your step by step on how to grow petunia is easy to follow. I hope to start growing my petunias seeds week. Wish me luck!!!
Excellent instructional video. I really appreciated seeing all of the stages of the petunias--from seeds to robust plants. I'm inspired now to see how my now-germinated petunia seedlings will do in the coming weeks here in Southern California.
Hello Ray ~ I've sown petunias for decades, but this year all 200 of them did not germinate, not one! So I thank you for this beautiful and informative video, I do everything like you do, but I'll try again. It's so frustrating to work hard and $$ and get nothing. Happy Gardening!
It's great to see the whole process. I sowed petunias for the first time this year and mine are ready for baskets as well. I usually buy plug plants so I've saved a fortune by following on RUclips. Thanks for sharing :-)
Believe it or not, you Sir have a style and it's the one that most closely matches mine. You include things most videos lack and aviod the pointless thingsso many include. I like it when the gardener influences the plants not the people :) Cheers, got a pack of Ferry Morse seeds to go in today just like you've done.
Awesome tutorial! I’m wondering when you start them for spring/summer planting? How many days would you say from seed to being able to plant outdoors? I assume about 90 days?
Petunia baskets have gotten so expensive thought I would try my hand at collecting seeds and starting them. This was very helpful thanks. Your potting area is wonderful.
I love petunias because they're beautiful, have high yeild of flowers and pretty low maintenance. My garden is full of them. I have big , small , all different colors. 🌷🌸🌹🌺🌻🌼🥀
Thank you very much. I’m going to try petunia for the first time this year. I’ve just finished harvesting my seeds. You had great details and showed every step. Thanks so much. The best video I’ve seen!! 🇨🇦🙂
i just started my first tray of petunia, wished I'd watched your video first. But I just got another 100 seeds to start properly. Thank for the assistance and well done on your channel.
Thanks so much. I'm in the prairies of Canada at about 50° latitude. Zone 4. I have complete sun from my balcony for most of the day so I'm going to start mine in about a week. Which will be close to the end of March. I still have some planning to do and I'm a bit concerned because I do go visit family for two or three days at a time. But I've decided I will just take them with me.❤😂
Hi from Canada! Excellent step by step instructions. I grew some petunias in single cells from the start last year. Definitely going to try starting in rows then potting up later method this year.
Started some cherry sented ones from baker creek.. Cant wait to see them mature. Inly a few germanated i was trying one at a time you did the whole package in one pot.
Thank you for sharing! It would be nice to see your basket with full petunia blossoms! Your video is very helpful. I ordered some seeds and can’t wait to get started
Wow - a great tutorial for growing petunias! I started six in a 6-cell tray, only 3 germinated. I think I will follow your advice and plant a whole tray of them and then repot once they have their true leaves. Thank you for this help!
I LOVE doing Petunias. Easy to grow, maintain, and continues to bloom through summer. I'm skipping the potting up step this year and putting the seeds directly into a 16oz cup. From there into a basket outside. Mid May is our safe transplant date
This is great!! Thanks for your wonderful tips! I am trying my hands at growing Petunias and learning a lot from all my mistakes. Been researching on the internet and came across this. Extremely helpful! Thank you!
Thank you for your great thorough teaching of how to go from seed to outdoors, I now have my first Solar greenhouse in Washington state am an very exited to star growing many things😉
Thanks.Great vid start to finish. First time growing flowers from seed. Been only 2wks and was worried for my petunias because they’re still so tiny compared to my other flowers. But seems like they need about a month to get up potted.need to be patient 😅
Super helpful and step by step. I wish your hand didn’t cover the camera when you took the petunia out of the growing tray to transfer it to other tray. I wondered how big the roots were. Otherwise thank you and I think I will try this!!!
Hiya Ray!! How lovely to land on your channel for flower seeding! A fave of mine because your flowers always look so stunning!! I think you just invented the spider lifter, without knowing it! I love it! Saw you at Ryan's last night, isn't it great that he's back??! What a treat!! Wow, those petunia seeds are microscopic!! Wow look at them at 30 days! Lovely! That's my kinda dibber, Ray! If I can't find my dibber/marker, I grab a twig! lol Ray, I'm confused.. we left seedlings in a green cell tray and came back to a black one, did you transfer them to black off screen? Or are these different ones? They are lovely in the black and definitely healthier, more robust plants!! How many times did you pot them on? How lovely to have them hanging, the best thing ever for petunias!! I did not know you should pinch them out for bushier plants! Very cool!! I love start to finish and this was great!! Thanks, my friend!! Have a great weekend coming!!💚
So enjoyed the video. I’ve been trying to grow petunias from seed for the last 3 months and nearly gave up. With new inspiration, I will try again. My potting mix was too coarse. How many months from seed to flower?
Thanks for this great video! I planted petunia seeds last month. I used a peat based soil wetted with worm casting water. I fertilize with this worm casting water weekly. Strangely all the leaves of the tiny plants are purple! What do I need to do?

Thanks for walking through each step. Trying to grow Petunias for the first time this year and this is exactly what i was looking for!
Glad it was helpful!
Can i plant it directly on my hanging container?
I like how you use whatever you have handy for a dibber, a Sharpie, half a pair of scissors, etc. I am now a subscriber!
I've watched so many videos on planting, but must say this is by far the best how to plant and finish I have seen , Thank you from Wollongong Australia.
