Veil is an over looked support item at the moment. With all the nerfs to magic immunity and magic reduction items it really shifts fights and it’s cheap with some stats.
FYI aeon disk doesn't dispel nullifier, only death dispels nullifier. nullifier can be cast before aeon disk procs and then when aoen disk procs it is quickly dispelled by the nullifier debuff.
Pavise quickly became my favorite new item in the patch especially on Dazzle as you can get high up time with it due to his new reworked ult and just how generally useful it is like Force Staff.
cheeky note about the solar crest: if you're playing with an illusion hero and against heroes that want to jump, you can solar crest an illusion to try and bait them to go on it. watched a legion blink duel a terrorblade illusion because of this
Theorycrafting and educational content doesn't get much views often (at least that's why most of LoL youtubers have stopped creating pure educational content) but glad you are still doing this stuff!
Feel like theres so many ways to get loads of items now its great only problem is such limited space and constantly swapping stuff in and out is so tedious. Would love to see like a ward slot or dust or smoke slot where it has its own dedicated slot seperate from bags that u can hot key too. the amount of times ive popped a dust or smoke by accident because i didnt have it in the right slot as the courier dropped it to me
blink is underrated as a comeback survivability/agency item. often times when you are getting snowballs having a way to move around the map faster is key to stopping snowball, and during the hg fights being able to reposition to get even more value out of your spells is game winning, chasing down survivors and securing the wipe allows you, a squishy support, to deward by yourself with impunity and also much faster than if you had no blink. If game is slow, blink is typically my 2nd item on any support after getting a defensive item even on heroes like warlock and oracle just for repositioning, aggressive vision, and stealthily moving around the map.
I used to make lens on pudge 4 first almost every game, I switched it to pavise, awesome buildup, mana reg and a lil bit of tankiness to go along with flesh heap, it's great
please do the 5 hour discussion. im new and items scare and confuse me. this video was great for learning what I need to build as a suipport. mostly play IO, sky wrathmage, phoenix, and Witch doc.
Seconding this. As an experienced player w/ a lot of hours into DOTA I still def get stuck in old metas of items (i.e. force + glimmer or bust). The way you broke all of these items down and talking how they compliment each other was super helpful!
Great video, thank You for the effort. You're my main source of DotA information, as POS4 is my favourite role. On the funny note, I like how you say Spirit Vessel becomes useless once they start dispeling it, but I never in my life saw anybody dispel it xD (except by BKB). How do I "check what the pros are building" ?
Hi Zack, deeply gratitude for this one just like for all others videos as well! There is a question I wanted to ask you: is there any good way how to improve the skill of pressing buttons fast and correct. I know it sounds very awkward but I pretty sure there are many people who strugling with pressing the fast, correct and accurate. Is there any tools, ideas? I would be more than appreciate if you might do a video where we could practice it like using spells, items and so on in team fights. Thank you!
The best way to deal with nullifier is Halberd or Ethereal, only physical damage cores go for nullifier, if you face it you can disarm and buy some time for your team while he wastes BKB and time chasing you on backline.
Idk but force staff for me is the must buy almost on any 5 as first item. In my oppinion is the best save option right now. And there is no situation where your team do not need at least one force...
Locket is underrated. Especially on universal heroes since it's now +10 all stats (21 damage) for 2400 gold. Just buying the stat components on an Aghs is 3000 gold. The passives alone (w/o the stat bonuses) equals an extra 1.5 mana/sec and 5 health/sec if you don't get a single extra charge. Then you have the choice to place the charges on yourself or an ally. Really good item.
Yeah my original impression was that the barrier was the first calculation. If it indeed takes damage after reductions then pavise is actually really good, but if not it's kinda garbage and medallion is better in almost every circumstance.
If you really like fight-fight-fight to Vladmir's offering is always decent item if you have stats-heavy team. Realy cheap to build, provide half of medaluion armor, little mana regent some lifesteal and damage boost. It not a game changer as disarm, silence or hex but well-around team-fight item
I use Pavise on pos 4 SB... not for my team to stay alive but for me to dive and tank damage under tower. And also have mana to clear waves later on...(i'm a "support" player if you know what I mean) You would be surprised how effective it is vs Tier 1 towers 5 mins into the game. Mid heroes hate it.
try tinker with solar and drum boots and he can have solar crest on both an enemy and your core at the same time and infinite uptime drums. stupid attack speed for free
Can you say more about what makes a good game for a given item? I feel like I can always make a case for solar crest, but I'm not sure when I neeeeeeeed it vs other items.
when you need instant reposition to kite (vs slark, ursa, sven) forcestaff is better, especially if u have backline squishy core (sniper, drow). maximum benefit for solar crest if you have a carry that can tank attacks (sven, mk, alch). bearing boots against powerful slows (veno, warlock) lotus for dispels and single target disables (silencer, lion, shaman, bane). Glimmer for reposition.
pos 5 gold is very limited, so you need to determine item priorities. Having forcestaff early can prevent slark from snowballing. Sometimes skipping FS for lotus is a big difference to save your core against stuns.or to dispel debuffs. If you are a melee support and your team dont have aura items, you can build greaves or pipe. If nobody can initiate a fight and you have a reliable stun you can buy dagger.if you're sure you won't quickly die
If a shard is severely necessary/required, I'm in the mindset that you should rush it even before first tormentor spawns, besides that no. You're already giving up the economical advantage to cores by giving them the lanes, jungle, stacking for them and taking the utility item cost tax. They can and SHOULD buy their shards if it's really good for the current match and they need it early on in the game, even if both supports rush shard, they still have to possible kill 3x tormentors before they're guaranteed to get their shard (40mins into the game if you got your tormentor and didn't steal any of the enemies), most games are leaning heavily one way or the other by that point. It's similar to the argument about scepter from rosh, everyone will get it "eventually", but you can't guarantee it, some games your cores refuse to go for torm, some you lose the torm to the enemy team and not least, you can be maximum unlucky as the lowest net worth pos5 and lose every 50/50 roll, ending up receiving shard last on the team. So you gotta judge it on a game per game basis, but shard is not an "expensive" item for a core, but 1400gold is a lot on a support, that's basically a pavise right there. Give a support 1400gold and they can make an entire item, give a core 1400 gold and they're maybe not even halfway to their next item.
urn is very good early game against a blink initiators if they don't initiate u can prevent them from blinking the whole effectively the whole fight dagon is funny item the instant creep kill is very useful to farm once a while with the abundance of camps also the heal is deceptively very good i don't think u buy it on typical supports still aeon disk is better now with barriers delaying it's threshold activation that said the best way to use it is to not have it combined still
Æon vs Nullifier: does **not** work, careful. The nullifier debuff is one of the few things not dispelled by strong dispels. So it's a lose-lose situation for the æon disk. Afaik Linkens and on-attacker Pike active are the only two items that can try to handle Nullifier. Great video otherwise, as always 🙂
id:7169349239 -------------------- LC mid lost her lane. Dusa offlane. Support pudge that did nothing ------------------- Was playing Sven carry. Swapped with medusa offlane cause i felt she couldn't lane against am. Pudge sup was terrible, no that i am any better. lc lost mid. So my question is what should i do? Was this game winable? Should i make calls, because i often felt like dusa was overextending and i was forced to parttake in fights. Is this just l from the very start? What should my mentality be going into this game?
I have this bad habit of farming my own stacks and getting an orchid at 14 mins on Kotl. When needed, i buy nullifier right next. The cores would ping my items but surely i know they nod in agreement once they see how it's effective. Lol
started playing dota last month. Without your guides, don't think I would still be playing
excellent analysis as usual, mang.
I love your item videos the most!! It’s so helpful to see what you think, to see comparisons, counters, etc. I’d love to see more
Veil is an over looked support item at the moment. With all the nerfs to magic immunity and magic reduction items it really shifts fights and it’s cheap with some stats.

Thank you for correcting me! Looks like I'm the one who's outdated :O
Nullifier continuously dispel for 5 seconds.
@@allanyang21 yes, and that 5 seconds cannot be stopped by a dispel is my point
I think aeon kinda sucks now given how easy it is to get nullifier and how high value the other support items are
Pavise quickly became my favorite new item in the patch especially on Dazzle as you can get high up time with it due to his new reworked ult and just how generally useful it is like Force Staff.
I feel like 7.33 was so big, there's so many things I missed or have not focused on (Solar Crest / Pavise) because of other things.
Love the vid!
DUDE EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR! Thank you so much!
cheeky note about the solar crest: if you're playing with an illusion hero and against heroes that want to jump, you can solar crest an illusion to try and bait them to go on it. watched a legion blink duel a terrorblade illusion because of this
I'd love a longer breakdown of these items, it's super useful!
1:40 best part about blood grenade is it signals to your teammates "I WANT TO KILL THIS GUY" so they don't fucking peel off early
You make the best Dota videos on RUclips I swear. Learnt a lot from your videos 🎉
Theorycrafting and educational content doesn't get much views often (at least that's why most of LoL youtubers have stopped creating pure educational content) but glad you are still doing this stuff!
i love your time marks xD
Don't forget that going from drum to boots makes the regen on the boots unbreakable, and its close to the best regen you can get
Feel like theres so many ways to get loads of items now its great only problem is such limited space and constantly swapping stuff in and out is so tedious. Would love to see like a ward slot or dust or smoke slot where it has its own dedicated slot seperate from bags that u can hot key too. the amount of times ive popped a dust or smoke by accident because i didnt have it in the right slot as the courier dropped it to me
It'd absolutely kill all invis heros with a extra slot for dust
But I do think boots should get its own slot

We want a whole new series about support items ❤️❤️

I hate the low cast range, its still true though.

RIKI QUESTIONING HIS WHOLE EXISTENCE.
Don't skip these items, don't skip this video 😤😤 or else
Don’t skip leg day
MOONJELLYING LAYING DOWN THE LAW
Or else -20... Again....
quality content as alwaays
i always thaught that barriers ignore your base armor and always block flat damage
Yeah my original impression was that the barrier was the first calculation. If it indeed takes damage after reductions then pavise is actually really good, but if not it's kinda garbage and medallion is better in almost every circumstance.
Love the content ! Can you do it for pos1,2,3 as well? Like which situation is good to have kind
Pos 5 medalion, pavise and drums is basically a guaranteed snowball
in depth video or longer video with more items will be good for your patreon
If you really like fight-fight-fight to Vladmir's offering is always decent item if you have stats-heavy team. Realy cheap to build, provide half of medaluion armor, little mana regent some lifesteal and damage boost. It not a game changer as disarm, silence or hex but well-around team-fight item

Damn blood grenade makes my early game so good!
Thanks bro! :)
hell yeah dad i love yyour vids keep it up
me and my cousins scream PAAVVVIIIISEEEE everytime we are about to die now xD
try tinker with solar and drum boots and he can have solar crest on both an enemy and your core at the same time and infinite uptime drums. stupid attack speed for free
Do you have any item build guides for your favorite supports?
thanks bro
You forgot one aura item. What do you think of vlads?
aeon disk vs nyx because i dont have the reflex to avoid the combo if its avoidable and dont want to randomly get 1 shoted
A good Nyx uses Dagon after Vendetta before he Impales and finishes off things with his new Mana Burn.

How do you feel about buying shard on support so your other cores get theirs/gold earlier from the tormentor
I was wondering the same!
If a shard is severely necessary/required, I'm in the mindset that you should rush it even before first tormentor spawns, besides that no. You're already giving up the economical advantage to cores by giving them the lanes, jungle, stacking for them and taking the utility item cost tax.

Just make a tier list bro 😅
halbert is also even better against ranged heroes 5s compare to meele 3s, especially dusa as she dont get BKB usually
Aether lens is my 1st build item no matter what lol
urn is very good early game against a blink initiators if they don't initiate u can prevent them from blinking the whole effectively the whole fight
dagon is funny item the instant creep kill is very useful to farm once a while with the abundance of camps also the heal is deceptively very good i don't think u buy it on typical supports still
aeon disk is better now with barriers delaying it's threshold activation that said the best way to use it is to not have it combined still
fucking THANK YOU
Imagine a guide vid that put all you need to know about the title in the thumbnail 😂😂😂
Æon vs Nullifier: does **not** work, careful. The nullifier debuff is one of the few things not dispelled by strong dispels. So it's a lose-lose situation for the æon disk. Is that really the correct way to pronounce Pavise. I always place the emphasis on the first syllable.
Haven't watched the video yet but based on historical knowledge i believe it's pronounced : PAH VEESE like "geese"
yeah pretty much
I thought it was pronounced PA - VICE
seen a lot of people mispronounce pavise. its "pa-vis"
Commenting for better reach
Veil is sleeper op. Builds from basilius, good stats, 18% spell amp for whole team when most other spell amp items are 8 or 16% in bad items
