    Just bought a RecPro and hubby will be doing a self install so your video will come in very handy. We have a 2015 fifth wheel and had to have the Dometic a/c replaced when the rv was one year old. Seems back then Dometic put out some bad units so it was replaced under warranty. The repair guy showed us how badly the a/c was taped so he did a great job on correcting that. He also told us to check each vent and make sure they were taped also. They were not so all of those (every one) was retaped. A/C in the bedroom was also retaped and there were scraps and junk found in it. Looking forward to having the ac installed...we are in Texas and it has been exhaustingly hot. We have been using a floor unit that vents out the window and it has kept us comfy but takes up floor space, making things a bit more cramped. Thank goodness the bedroom a/c has been working great. Thanks for your video

    Nice job, but there are WAAAAAY better alternatives to a roof top unit if your camper has the space. I decommissioned the 2 roof top units on my camper and installed a mini split system. Super efficient and very very quiet. Love your videos

      I still plan on taking my trailer on the road. Mini splits are not designed to be beat around. I am not sure how they will hold up long term if the trailer is moved. This new unit I put on is not like the old ones either. It is very efficient. I am putting two mini splits in my cabin build. I have one mini split in my home's sunroom. I love the mini splits.

    I lived in a Lance TT for a couple years while I was traveling. One thing almost all travel trailers have in common is everything in them is fragile and prone to break. I was lucky, my A/C didn't break but almost everything else did.

      I think the heat pump will work really well in our area but I don't think it would be good up north. I think you would still need gas heat as a reserve. We have had the unit running for the last month and it has gone through 102° actual temperature with a hand index of 132. Condensation was running off the top of the travel trailer like a waterfall. Inside the travel trailer it was a comfortable 72.

      @TonysTractorAdventure we are in the southwest part of VA so Temps get a little cool in the winter. We normally stop camping around December and start back up in mid February or late March. I guess I would just have to see how to wire the gas heat up with the heat pump. I hope you will do a follow up video .

    Typically that ceiling cavity is a common ceiling plenum (duct) that feeds the bathroom and back bedroom.

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  Год назад +1

      The duct you see in the video goes to the bathroom and the bedroom. On the other side, it goes to the common area. Any company that uses the whole ceiling cavity as a duct is not worth the salt that makes them up.

    I want to do the swap and retain the propane heat as I live in a northern state. Any advice on that? I know I would have to keep the original thermostat and wire in the control box. I’m trying to remember is the roof unit ducts the air through the propane unit as well or is it a separate blower. Heat does go through floor vents and cool is from roof vents.

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  Месяц назад

      The propane units duct through the floor. You will have to keep your original thermostat. We We don't get that gold in TN

      @@TonysTractorAdventure Do you think I should just go with the recpro and forget the Coleman compatibility possibility (run the propane with the same wires)? BTW, can you set the thermostat to heat at night if needed and cool in the day, like my home unit with a single setting?

    Fantastic video guys. I'm finding the website for the 3800 states minimum roof thickness 3", maximum 3 3/8"... It looks like we're sitting as bout 3 3/4" (3/8" too thick) but your video shows what seems to be even thicker than that. Did you use the stock bolts, or order extended? The website says the extended bolts are only for the non-ducted model. Thanks for the video!

    Tony off topic but I've landed on your channel as I've been researching TYM tractors specifically looking at the T25. There's a 2023 model at a dealership but was curious if you know when 2024 models come out or if there are any upgrades that you're hearing in that model?

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  Год назад

      Tractors don't run in year models. We keep up with modifications by serial number runs. Some serial number runs maybe 2 years long. I don't know of any big changes coming to the T25 other than red rims and possibly an optional step.

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  9 месяцев назад

      @@TonysTractorAdventure I was already planning to install a 12k mini-split heat pump to replace my 13.5k (AC only) unit. Installing a roof mount unit would obviously be easier and slick as hell but I think a split unit would be more efficient and I would have more room for solar panels on the roof. Kinda like having a window ac vs mini-split as far as efficiency difference.

      There is absolutely no reason to blow directly into the attic of any uninsulated structure ever. The duct work is there, but they were sloppy building the travel trailer and didn't finish the job. .
