Without the new plugins this update might be not too spectacular. I love the SLO Plugin and couldn't wait until it arrived for the QC and it absolutely delivered. It sounds so much better than the stock SLO, especially with some third party IRs. So for me it is a great update. The Fender is nice too and the subharmonic synth, yeah i don't know when this could be useful but nice to have...
Thanks for the review/summary. I do own both the Nameless and the Soldano plugins, so I was happy to see the release. I really like the Fender 64 amp! I am testing it on my Live scene in place of the Lonestar for a clean patch. Also using the Amalgam Fender 2x12 IR along with a Fender 1x12 in a dual IR setup. It definitely breaks up more than the 65. I am keeping the volume down to about three or so, and I really like that sound. I'm with you in that the other effects don't really excite me too much as I'm a pretty straightforward rock player, but as you mention, it could lay the groundwork for some future cool things. I do like the momentary stomp button changes, that I operate almost exclusively in scene mode nowadays. I used to run a hybrid setup, but found that I need more patches so I switched to 100% scenes now. It's nice to see more regular updates coming out, and I hope this allows them to release updates on a regular cadence rather than waiting so long between updates. I had one instance where the screen became unresponsive on the computer, although it allowed me to click and it appeared to be doing things but was not making any changes. When I looked at the QC there was an error message on the screen and I had to reboot. Don't know if that was a fluke or a bug, but we'll see if there's a 3.0.1 update out soon.
Spot on review. Soapbox: What's apparent at this point is NeuralDSP continues to struggle with achieving polyphony, as your auditioned pitch effects clearly demonstrate. As an aside, warbling notes and artifacts on few notes, never mind chords, sadly neuters their Transpose effect for me. I have to look somewhere else when I use chords in baritone tunings or any non-standard pitch for that matter. I'm pained to say it, but I shouldn't have to require the use of a $197 Electro-Harmonix Pitch Fork pedal in front of a top-of-line $1800 processor, but EHX has polyphony figured out so there it remains. Unfortunately, here's more pitch effects to file under the "never use" category. To end on a high note, the QC is exceptional in all other aspects!!
I thought the 64 had something a little extra too. I like the Harmonic Trem. Not really interested in the synth or OC 2 updates . Hoping the Tone King might go X one day? Have you done any videos on Compression? I’ve still not really grasped compression to date .
Hello friend. Your cortex sounds much different from my cortex. I like your much. What studio monitors or what are u using ? Could u please tell. Thank you
Ive seen a bunch of posts talking about that Bluetooth is built into the qc and they are waiting for implementation. I find this highly unlikely, why would they not have activated this ... do you have a take on this.?
I saw that at some point too. I think it's that the component they built in the does wifi supports BT as well. I've never heard anything more than that.
@@pranavphx everyone talks about the Nameless is being only for very heavy sounds, but I'm getting some great classic rock sounds out of it as well just by lowering the gain and and adjusting the EQ stack. I really love the sound of the Nameless and I think it gets a bad rap by being lumped into the heavy metal realm.
I just watched the official Neural DSP video on the Nameless for the QC. It sounded hideous to my ears! 😂 That's not how I set it up at all for sure. That demo was very heavy and I thought the distortion was flubby and not at all appealing to my ears. I get that everyone's different, but I'm not into that super heavy sound, and I still say you can get some good classic rock tones out of that plug-in without having to drive it into death metal territory. Now for those who love death metal, you're there in spades, but I just want to add again that there are more than just those tones in the app.
I’ve been working on that. Try the plini chorus set slow and vintage. Then add the rotary block after it fast with a very low mix. It’s not perfect but in the ballpark…
Very underwhelming update afac. I don't use plugins, chose the QC for it's great sound but it is starting to fall behind the competition if you ask me. Overall this updates makes to QC a little bit better again but that's it, for me. I would really appreciate a big boost in the reverb and delay department.
I wish they ( neural) could explain why they have a vibrato channel with no vibrato, its like have a twin reverb with no reverb? Its like the emperor’s clothes, harmonic tremelo sounds good 👍🏼 two guitar amps isn’t enough though, all plugins should be added, ive a couple and I won’t buy any until they are incorporated into the device, having said that , its a good machine, id like to see what fractal comes out with next as the life cycle of their axe 3 seems to nearly due for a reboot, hopefully they with include a touch screen which would probably be a fantastic unit
Ha! I have been wondering the same thing. The different sidea of a real deluxe amp do sound different however, so it makes sense to some extent, but it would have been nice if they had added the vibrato effect as an option when you select that side of the amp.
@ a few people on the forums have had it. Sweetwater is handling it but neural has to be involved. Units only a month old. Hoping its a firmware thing but I think its a hardware failure.
This update brings the QC a little bit closer to perfection.

the Chief OC-2nd the Subharmonic was a huge update for bass players.

The update is great. It was free. Nothing to complain about. Most people expect too much.
Great video. Your site is my go-to for all things QC. Keep up the good work.
I was really hoping to use the momentary switch to ramp up and down the speed on the rotary effect. Like a Leslie. Apparently not?
I think that you could use an expression pedal for that.
Room on cab plugins on QC

The sounds you hear are direct into my computer via USB. For monitors I use JBL 305p speakers.

Soldano... Lukather... Landau... Clapton... Huff... But nobody remembers the trichorus... is it so hard to recreate that effect? I don't understand

The chorus in Petrucci X is a Tri-Chorus, so that’ll be possible on the QC within the next 6 months.

Hi mate, great vids. Out of interest are you finding there’s more latency during scenes since plug in capability? I’m sure it’s got more noticeable!
I haven't noticed anything.

Because they model the Preamps, not the modulation or time based effects on those amps.
This update made my screen useless. All pixels and unusable.
Sucks
Really. That sucks. I've never heard of an update causing those kinds of issues. Hopefully Neural can get that resolved for you.
