Before Fontaine came out I thought he was going to be a cranky old man but he actually is a very sweet easy going guy, hoyo is great at making personalities
I lowkey thought he was gonna be a major antagonist in Fontaine when i first saw him
when it comes to male characters at least...
Female characters, absolutely not, male characters, absolutely. Ganyu's entire personality is just work, while xiao and zhongli get to have their backstories weigh on their character towards the viewer's perception. Ganyu was WITH them the entire war, she is far more than just work. That's just one example.

I came to say the same thing. I usually play in Japanese because I enjoy the language and because I have in the past felt a few of the English VAs weren't to my liking. But this guy... wow he does it perfectly. I mean, he oozes Neuvillette. Neuvillette comes across as graceful, aloof yet kind, and his otherworldness makes him seem detached from humanity.

tbh i think it was from focalors bc she invited him to be a judge before she binded herself to the oratice also if it was furina then that literally just means that foaclors would of told her to do it which i think is unlikely bc she wanted to keep her in the dark
@@dumbtch-lk5yr yeah i think the letter was from Focalors but the voice that speaks in the teaser is Furina(you can notice it by intonation. Focalors voice is more mature than the voice we hear here. the voice we hear here is normal Furina voice). Also at the end of his story quest we see Furina's letter that tells him to go outside and get to know people more, she says that she has told him that 100 times and her line that starts with "you will see much in the human world from delightful to the depressing" is also similar to what Focalors wanted. They are kind of the same person so it makes sense for their thought process to be similar.

The interaction between neuvalitte and the melusine is so adorable and heatwarming. She even waited for him patiently while he was zoned out.
Neuvillette is so interesting. I really can't pick between him or Zhongli. His lore is also juicy AF. Honestly, Fontaine has the best line of characters so far..

For me it's because if the theories are true about him being a Sovereign, then he's gonna be the first character to potentially answer so many questions about the era before sun and moon. As a lore nerd, this man finna make me bust.
I love him for being similar to Zhongli while also bringing new questions and theories to the table. Plus Ray Chase is amazing.

Out of most characters I feel like Neuvillette’s personality is the most unique, he seems like a cold hearted judge but in reality he actually has a soft side for most things
Just as he said in this trailer, he lost a good portion of his memories. He will get them back. So we don't really know how his personality will be after he gets back his memories.

After first trailer I though he gonna be that serious cold character, the Judge with no compromises, but then I encounter him first time in a game and was like "He is really like that?"
And cause of that I immediately start liking him
Personally I think that they ruined his personality with how he’s presented. What should be a very interesting character about what a good person has to do for the sake of justice just boiled down to “he’s so misunderstood” I found it really annoying to see him and all the trailers of him just make me feel like I’m meant to like this guy too much, without much reason to actually like him. I feel like they stripped away a potential great plot line of having to understand the purpose of justice instead we just have a friendly character who can do no wrong. It’s too likeable for a judge.

I love how both furina and neuvilette’s dynamic. On one hand furina acts like the immature one bcz she is tryin to enjoy her life with everyone else before they succumb to the original sin. Then neuvilette is tries to keep furina in check and at the same time learning from her about and understanding the whole aspect of water itself and is humbling himself by learning from others unlike furina who is extremely smart and cunning but in a playful manner
Nuevillette has a VERY intriguing character. He has the front of someone who seems like he would be cold and callous. But when you actually meet him… he’s the polar opposite. Sure, he struggles to understand others and himself. But when he’s in the courtroom, he knows what he’s doing. He does care for people, he just doesn’t know how to show it. He’s also fond of the Melusine, and it’s emphasized a lot more here when he gives a small smile at the Melusine in this trailer. I went into Fontaine expecting not to like Nuevillette. But I actually quite enjoyed him by the end of the first act of Fontaine. Thanks for bringing an awesome character to life ❤❤

The early trailers/previews of Fontaine did a goud job of showing what his demeanor looks like from the outside, as he seems kind of cold ahnd callous amongst the funky justice system that was eluded to early on. Then once you see him actually interacting with others in a professional roll ahnd adjacent to it in slightly more personal contexts, you see his complicated character, ahnd it feels relatable, intriguing, ahnd original amongst other character types.
I'm very impressed with Mihoyo making original characters, that are sometimes similar to some character tropes you see in anime, but they branch off into nuanced original peeps that are nuanced ahnd enticing. So freakin' proud to be apart of this game l:)
As a lore player, he’s the best character that have come out so far for me. So interesting and mysterious, and his existence hints to something so much deeper. We’ve got crumbs of deeper lore before, but he kinda feels like it but solidified.

Neuvillette understand himself through understanding other people. A basic concept that many people elude. People are reflections of what we are, and we are reflection of what they are. We are in this together. Understanding yourself outside that totality will always lead up to you never getting to understand yourself properly,

Everyone like, Neuvillette is gonna be that guy who is very strict and is not welcoming.
Then the first time we meet him, dude is so chill and those Melusines looks up to him, heck he even help a random stranger to fix his tie (Much to that strangers fear haha)
@@casmartleFurina is supposed to be the one antagonizing us, so it makes sense to not have another important figure double down on us. Neuv follows reason, he isn't intetested in being overly petty or mean just because of a sense of superiority. I think this personality rly suits his calm character.
@@casmartle nope this is actually better, in complimentary with current Furina's personality (if she has two), in the court he is still professional of his job while outside of the court is gentle and approachable.
I find it interesting that he is kinda opposite of Childe, Neuv is so powerful yet humble and only shows his power when neccessary, unlike Childe who is always looking for fight (like a kid), brag so much about "borrowed power" (delusion/abyss?) yet 11th in ranking (last) in harbinger.

@sariethesatannek3906 still doesn't make it less of Furina. Yes, Focalors invited him in Fontaine, but Furina stayed with him for almost 500 years, and her voice guiding him in this teaser is definitely Furina.
When he first met Focalors, he outright said, "You are not Furina, who are you?". That scene was Focalors' and Neuvillette's first meeting in person, he knows that she's not Furina herself because he knew Furina's hidden side for years even if he doesn't understood it fully.
At the end when he finally know the whole truth, he concluded that they are the same person as per his character story.
@@wearymeowmeow I mean I did read somewhere that focalor does took over furina sometimes so furina wasn't totally herself all the time , she was mix of focalor and herself when focalor was alive (i doubt she's really dead tho 🐔) but maybe after traveller arrived focalor was more busy with her plan and and wasn't taking over furina that much ,even if furina did guided neuvilette , there's no chance she did done it without focalor help and it's written that focalor invited neuvilette
Tho neuvilette only received letter so ofc he didn't really didn't met focalor in person even if he did focalor was too cautious with her every action so she never let him know that she and furina aur different 🤧, well in the end that's all our theory that what we learn and saw in in the game and lore , it's sad mihoyo never gives clear explanation and ends things for guessing :'( i also wished they explained the neuvilette and focalor lore and neuvilette birth and and everything more clearly at least just lauch the story on hoyolab so we'll able to know what exactly happened 🤧

I have to admit that among all Fontaine's characters, Neuvillette is the one with the most elegant and outstanding appearance of the bunch, and is also voiced by famous VAs like Kamiya Hiroshi in charge of the voice Japan. Good luck to those who want him!
I love Hiroshi Kamiya but I felt like he didn't even gave effort in voicing Neuvillette cause he seems so gentle in JP and literally expected him to pull off a Levi or Trafalgar vibe. EN is definitely better this time in Fontaine, also Furina.
@@mindflayer2651 Also, his deeper voice in EN suits him better, kinda like EN Zhongli. I always wanted Kamiya Hiroshi to voice Dottore instead, when we only knew the younger, crazier Dottore from the manga.

If you didn't know or couldn't tell, Neuvilette IS a Melusine that just happens to look completely human (thus him wondering why he is in that form).
Another Melusine character is also on the way, a 4-star little girl named Sigewinne. She's mostly human, but still has the Melusine wings and protrusions on her head. She even has the tail, though her's is curled up like a Shiba/Husky tail. Very adorable looking outfit. Like a stylish magical girl, but oddly still fitting for the place.
Sigewinne though, like Neuvilette, has a human face, hands and feet.

Even after 3+ months this trailer still goes hard
It was so unexpected. I thought he was going to be very strict when talking, so when I got to the part where he was at the theater, I was preparing myself like, "Alright, here we go! He's gonna tell me to be quiet in here!"
Instead, he apologized for making the main characters uncomfortable and was very polite when he spoke with them. That caught me so off guard.

I just honestly love this man. He’s just so interesting and I can’t wait for him to come out!!
So, as I understand the lore, Rhinedottir created the abyssal dragons Durin and Elynas, who seemingly only wanted to play on the surface but their power was so devastating that they sowed chaos and destruction wherever they went. Also, before the Archon War, there were seven dragon sovereigns ruling the seven areas of Teyvat that would later become the nations. Each dragon had elemental power, and the king of all dragons could wield all seven elements. Dvalin is a baby from the previous Anemo Dragon Sovereign, and so Dvalin would inherit that position were it not for the archons. Was Durin meant to challenge Dvalin’s seat of power as Mondstadt’s dragon overlord? And was Elynas created to replace the former Hydro Dragon Sovereign? We have a solid hunch that Neuvillette is a reincarnation of sorts for the Hydro Dragon Sovereign, but would that make him sorta related in a roundabout way to Elynas? Elynas is also the father of the Melusines, since the fight inside the corpse of Elynas produced an explosion of energy that mingled with Elynas’s biology and popped out the entire race of Melusines. If what assumptions I’ve made about the abyssal dragons created by Rhinedottir are false, I’ll update this with correct info and new theories. All of this to say that I think that’s why Neuvillette is so connected to the Melusines.

@@rafdisaifan7323 most of what I wrote out is spread out among world quests, story quests, books, and character/item bios within the game, so if you want it all packaged together for convenience I recommend Ashikai, a Genshin theory channel who also covers other Hoyoverse games
@@rafdisaifan7323 The parts about Elynas can be played through by starting and completing from a world quest on Elynas where you save a painter Melusine from Sumeru thugs. It also has ties in to the huge web that is the Narzissenkreuz Ordo lore, and we learn there's even darker secrets BEYOND the Abyss, which the Abyss is just a pale reflection of.
I think Neuvilette just sees a lot of himself in the Melusines. Both are more or less children of dragons that want to get along with humans in society even if they can't always understand them.
Holy this is probably the highest animation quality I’ve seen in a character teaser, absolutely incredible

someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i think hyv has been working more and more on improving their animated sequences with supportive AI. it's really evident in honkai star rail and has been spoken about publicly. this trailer clearly has a ton of human artistry put in, but i wonder if there is another element at play because it feels ever so much more polished

Ray Chase was an excellent choice to play the role as Neuvillette, among most English actors, he is my favorite next to Richard Epcar.

I agree Ray Practically got down voicing important male characters he is also one of my favorites next to Saab/Ricco Fajardo. I had low expectations who was gonna voice Neuvillette but when I found out it was Ray that was doing him it was instantly surpassed.
When I was in summer Camp we always play some Smash Ultimate let the kids play first then the counselors. We had a Smash Tournament where it was teams of 2. My main who I play and got down the moves is Mr. Game & Watch. The friend who I work with in camp and was paired up with mained Roy which Ray also voiced in smash and the Modern-day Fire emblem games. We won the tournament if your wondering.
One of my other favorite roles Ray did was in the Magi series as one of the eight generals of Sindria Sharrkan. Ray Overall is such a master at voicing male characters.
When I first saw this guy in the teaser reprimanding Furina, I thought he was going to be a super one-note character.
But then his very first scene in the archon quest was the one in the opera where we’re awkwardly trying to say hello to him, and it humanized him and it was such a good intro to his character BEFORE seeing him as chief justice. And after what happened in act two (especially with the rain!) he became one of my favorite Genshin characters I love him so much
Anyway, I hope he comes home upon his release, because I might not have enough primos and I don’t know how far away a rerun would be. Good luck on your Neuvillette pulls everyone!!

He is the Real Hydro Archon. He has voice lines about Other Archons which only Archons do. Fufu girl has no lines so she is not real Archon.

It is Furina. There's other lines from her where her personality hugely differs to what we see in person.
I'm wondering if she's put a core part of herself in the Oratrice Mecanique d'Analyse Cardinale to get it to work. Like she made it but also can't seem to be able to answer any questions about it, as if she's forgotten what she did to make it. And it doesn't seem like a Venti "~ehe~" forget when he's actually just flat out dodging the question, but she genuinely doesn't remember and it seems to unsettle and fluster her until she quickly puts her act back on.

This is truly a beautiful trailer. Every scene is screen background worthy and it warms my heart when Neuvillette had a soft heart for the Melusines. But that scene where multiple Neuvillette’s popped one after an another was also very beautiful. The 4.1 trailer and this had officially convinced me to pull for Neuvillette

I gotta say something, usually I don't like the english dub but Neuvillette's voice in this one is stunning. It's so in character and fits him so well, one of the few dubs I can actually acknowledge to be on pair with the chinese one

I normally prefer the sub version of most of the games/Anime I watch but there are a few dubs that I give exceptions to it if the voice actors are supremely Talented.
Like for example I was curious to hear who was playing Neuvillette so I set my expectations low But then I saw Ray Chase doing him It was just instantly surpassed. Ray is one of those actors that you can instantly make an exception to because he always puts on memorable performances in his roles be it main character or sub role, yeah he is known for playing Sukuna at the moment in Jujitsu Kaisen but my favorite role he did was Noctis in Final Fantasy 15. Not to mention a friend of mine mains Roy in smash which he also did. He is overall very talented.

For a while now I've theorized that Neuvillette was influenced by Furina in the past, and that since then she has undergone a shift in personality. I didn't expect to like him so much, but after getting to know him I'm obsessed
Ngl I can feel his EN voice actor really love the character instead of thinking of him as just another simple acting gig. There is just something about it that makes you feel the character deep inside your bone that makes you want to keep hearing it more. The last time I really felt like this was with the EN voice acting was from Eide/Chlothar Alberich' VA. I even searched & watched clips of Clothar in EN dub since I played in different language because he's just that good and it's really rare for me to feel like this with EN dub tbh so good job to the voice actors, really.
