Elise, please go and buy a fan to go on top of the woodburner - it is just metal and if you place it on top of the woodburner it spins when the top gets hot and spreads the heat around the room, it is economical and cuts down on the amount of wood you have to burn. You will be surprised at the difference it makes. Amazon sells them and I think hardware stores do too. (Sorry if I appear to be bossy by telling you what to do). Its great to see signs of spring popping up. Your new door is lovely, you could paint the bit around the window white along with the frame and leave the wood showing on the door itself. I think that an orange curtain or sunny yellow would look lovely in your kitchen. I love the corner shelf and your new cushion and rugs. Your cabin is starting to look very homely.
You might like the way lace curtains look if you can find some vintage ones or even an old lace tablecloth you could sew into curtains. The sun shining through will make lovely patterns on the walls. As a test, hang up the crocheted valance you showed and see if it’s a good vibe feeling for you.
I should have read the comments before saying the same thing lol - and I love your name! What an amazing lady she was. I was a sucker for her Nick & Nora movies.
Lace curtains dyed yellow or orange would give both the warm colour and pretty, mobile patterns. Just avoid the dirty yellow-brown of nicotine stains. There's vintage, and then there's Have those been washed in their lifetime? :)
@@michellebyrom6551 I see where you're going with this and in a less-patterned room that may look really nice. However with the wallpaper, the checks and whatever Elise decides to do with the dining area I think plainer curtains are the way to go. Lace is a good backdrop if it doesn't compete.
You bring such joy to people like me, who are too old to garden like we once did. To watch the excitement on your face when you talk about bulbs beginning to grow, and the promise of flower seeds.............it makes me feel young and happy again. Thank you so much for sharing some of your life with us. We enjoy it so much!!
My uncle has a cottage and in the winter we have the same problem that it gets so cold it’s unbearable 🥶 In the winter we need to add something to the bottom of all the doors, apply extra layer of curtains to the windows and keep them closed when we leave the cottage and at night, and we apply curtain over the main door also to stop draughts. And we wear many layers and thick socks 😂 then when spring arrives we remove them all!!! Xxx
If you opt for the warmer colour curtains (which I agree would warm the tone when the sun hits it), you could make some fabric napkins or another table cloth in the green fabric to compliment the existing green ruffle curtain under the counter.
Use the rest of the green gingham fabric to sew some cloth napkins or a couple pillow covers to mix in with the embroidered pillows on the bed. That way you're connecting the two rooms with that fabric and it does add a bright whimsical touch! I absolutely love your cabin and have enjoyed watching you transform it, Elise! :)
Your cabin is such a lucky girl to have you to love her! What you have done is so charming and lovely Elise. You are creating an enchanted magical garden and cottage. Beautiful! 💐❤️💐
Love the new door. Also we only use a wood stove all winter. And my best advice is to aim a fan at the ceiling to circulate the warm air that has risen to the top. It will help warm the cabin more efficiently. 🌻🧡
Looking back at how the cabin once was, now it's so awesome and cozy! I love your style and your sense of decoration. Thanks for bringing us along, it's a delight to watch it 😍
The door is beautiful, I'd varnish it and paint the trim white. Maybe just drape some checked fabric over that curtain rod and see what you think, me, I like the yellow fabric idea, even a cream and buttery strip. I can see selling the cabin for a house isn't what you'd ever do, I hope you find a house to get you out of that apt. Have a wonderful weekend, hopefully with no storms in sight.
I think white trim on the door would look wonderful and either a green or blue color for the door itself. I feel like white lace curtains would look adorable in your kitchen window as well. They would let a good amount of natural light in.
Ohhh Elise that door is Soo beautiful in its natural wood color, if it was my door I'd put a high gloss sealant and leave it natural. However, I know you will make it look beautiful. you have a good eye for decor 😉 How exciting to see your flowers already coming up!! 🌷🌸⚘️ that means it won't be long and you will be going to work and relax at your awesome cabin!!
Maybe the pink color of the front room on the back door? Thrifted books or coffee table books to have at the cabin can help you pass time when you just want some rest or are missing parts of the chores you wanted to accomplish. It's looking lovely! Seeing the bulbs waking up was exciting! Your spring at the cabin is going to be so colorful 😊
Sewing thicker curtains will help with the windows keep the cold drafty air getting in. Also a thick Persian rug will cozy up the cement floors. Can't wait for Spring to blossom in your garden
Frame white to match the window frames and a retro cornflower blue door would be cool. Also, when you have a fire burner or fireplace type heating source you have to have a fan that blows the heat around the room otherwise it just stays in one area that's why it's still cold in your place. Plus, you have a cement floor, no curtains... if you added a carpet and thick curtain (drapes) that would also warm it up.
I know from experience that when you have a cabin or travel or just leave your house, there’s ALWAYS something you’re going to forget 😄. Oh, here’s an idea for your curtains. Use a color, let’s say a soft yellow, and use the green checked fabric as a top or bottom border. I sew and I just love to create pillows, tablecloths, and curtains. Look at the thrift stores and see what kind of fabrics they have. Old bed sheets are great. Love your cabin ❤️
Such a beautiful little cabin and love how you are decorating it! So cozy! I think yellow curtains would be beautiful especially when the sun comes through. Also the wood door is sooooo beautiful!!! Maybe just a stain to protect it from the elements and white trim to match the windows. 🙂
Elise, I think you are correct to use another color such as a warm yellow or a very light print on a off-white for your curtains. The green is very busy and though it looks really good in your kitchen nook I think it will detract from your overall feeling of peace and comfort. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your new home that you talked about in your last video. You know from experience that everything will work out perfectly eventually especially with your beautiful attitude and positive energy. Thanks for your inspirational videos.
I fell in love with your tablecloth. When I saw that tablecloth I thought to myself OMG that would be beautiful on the windows 🥰 the yellow would look good as well. Can't wait to see what you come up with. I can't wait to see your cottage in the spring with all the pretty flowers. I have a shed in my backyard that I'm replacing hopefully this summer with a slightly bigger one and I think I'm going to make it my girly escape 🌸
Your gut feeling about the curtains is correct! :) in terms of photography and lighting, green is avoided because it can reflect into the space making the user look sick, so we try and avoid green in architecture/lighting designs
I think either the warm curtains you suggested or lace ones would look great. I would get a small electric space heater to help keep your cabin warm. You can move it around to where you are working if you need to. I think a green door to reflect the nature around your cabin would be lovely!
Love how your cottage is evolving. The door 🚪 would look beautiful white washed so the woodgrain shows through. It's still in keeping with the color scheme but would add beauty in the texture of the grain!
A real rug would be may suggestion Rugs provide warmth and cushioning under your feet when your standing peeling potatoes or washing dishes The first cloth you held up would look good hung up since it's designed to go oneway and the second cloth would look nice as a runner on your kitchen table when you want a change You are adorable and your cabin is adorable Watching your vlog are heartwarming I have shared your channel with a friend of mine's daughter and now my friend and her daughter enjoy your vlogs as much as I do We all 3 love material, vintage clothing, and china : )
Too bad you forgot your material after getting a nice fire going. What a bummer. IMO your kitchen will be a Lil busy with the wallpaper and then the checkered curtains? 🤷🏼♀️ That lace is what I loved!! I always gravitate to lace curtains or solids. 😊
Hi Elise I love your “cabinvlog”! You could think about changing the type of stove and getting one that blows hot air in the whole room! It would take less than an hour to get enough heat for the whole house!
Two thoughts about the curtains -- the light factor is a big deal, you're so smart to consider how it can impact a room! Can you find fabric swatches to test a couple of options? Second, there's the heat factor. Curtains can help keep a room warmer - but it's tricky, of course, since thick material can be light blocking.
Love the little sings of spring! The door is beautiful i would lea e the wood alone maybe put a protective coat over it. And trim it in white will be beautiful. I also say get a fan for the stove it should help spread the heat. Love your cottage:)
I love the idea of the yellow curtain I’m a huge fan of that color of any shade. It would really bring some happy bright vibes to that room! Love your shelf too.
I vote for a periwinkle door! With white trim. Or maybe spring green, like your coat. That corner shelf looks so sweet above the bed. I would use it constantly. That second rug you showed is called a table runner - like a scarf for the table. I don't know how long it would last on the floor. Self adhesive vinyl tiles stick right to the concrete like a sticker, and come in any color or pattern you can think of. You could checker them like the curtains or whatever else you'd want. Also, you can cut them with a box cutter into any shapes you like. It would take the edge off the cold floors for very little money and trouble. If you felt really ambitious you could also use a liner underneath that would further insulate the floor. The green check might make nice café curtains but also it might look too busy. We'd have to see. But definitely NOT on the big window. Personally I think a lace that complimented the one you already have would make better curtains and wouldn't effect the light. Can't wait to see what you do! Also, you need cute little rain boots. They make them in all colors now, even ones with flowers, so cute!! Then you could walk through anything. Thanks for another great cabin video ❤
I love the cabin. I think the corner shelf would be perfect where you have it in the bedroom, it would look really nice with a plant on the top shelf. The first rug you showed would look nice in front of the bed as well.
I love the idea of a white door and the curtains could be soft yellow or even lace would be nice. You are special and you should due what colors make you happy.
No worries, as soon as you get rugs on the cement floor and curtains up it will make it a bit warmer. Your idea is perfect to layer the rugs. padding will be good to prevent sliiping. Love your cabin so very much. Hugs
Here in Holland was also a big storm and rain ! Can't wait for the spring to come . 🌻⚘🌱 your cabin is beautiful and cute. I think warm yellow curtains is a good idea Elise .gives more Light I guess . 🥰
Buy an Eco fan. It doesn’t require electricity. It’s motor is driven by the heat of your wood stove and will help distribute the heat further. The natural wood of your new door is gorgeous! Can you varnish or put some sort of clear sealer in it to keep the natural color? I agree, the green check would create a strange light. Something soft like yellow, peach or pink would be lovely.
I like the white door with some bright green to do the trim and maybe even paint or stencil a vine growing over the door to keep is simple. If you want more flair you could add a bird or butterfly even flowers and make your door a part of your garden. And I am also a girl that likes power tools!
Hello Elise, nice to see you at the cabin again. It's turning out more and more beautiful with each visit. I love the tablecloth. You asked about the back door. I would paint the frame of the door white to match the windows. But then, the slots, i would go wild with all kinds of colors, and designs. And i probably would paint the inner frame of the door's window white again, to make it all cohesive. As for curtains, i would find some sheer/transparent curtains with colorful embroidered (or otherwise) flowers. I love flowers. I wonder if you can put something on the floor, maybe wood floors to make it warmer. Hope you stay cheerful throughout the week. Thank you.
Those bulbs will be flowing in the next few weeks! We already have crocuses open in our garden. The tulips and daffodils will flower in a few weeks! Fruit trees will be flowing soon too!
Love when the flowers start poking out of the dirt! I have some tulips coming up as well! I’d love to see a white framed door, with the door being some shade of blue. 🤍💙💛
Always lovely to follow you to your garden cabin. Your new door is wonderful - I look forward to seeing what colour you choose (I do like the contrast of a soft blue with the yellow and white) because I trust your vision. Same with the kitchen curtains - I like The freshness of the green (though possibly a softer shade) but also like the soft yellow idea. I know you will make it beautiful whatever you choose. 👍👍👍
Perhaps you could put the checked green fabric on the little window between the two counters? And the yellow, warm one on the big window and the little window over the table. This would create two spaces--if that's what you want. I love what you do to your cottage. It's so adorable. So you!
I love love love the embroidered wall you're creating! I love your little cottage!Such a happy place..And I love watching you fill it with all your awesome thrifted pieces!
Hi Elise....your Cabin is beautiful and getting even more gorgeous ...I so love your vlogs they are so warming and positive...and your garden is coming on nicely 😊...you are a lovely beautiful soul xx 😘
I love the joy of finding the things you've planted starting to bud up each year. Flowers yayyyyy. I would count my lillies every year as I had a little more to plant.
You could get slipper shoes for your cabin that way you have shoes that are specifically for wearing there and you don’t have to wear your outdoor shoes inside. That’s what we do in our house.
I say just put a protective coat on the door, and paint the trim orange for pop of color. You could add orange to the window boxes as well to brighten the whole look. I agree with a fan to circulate the heat around. Search woodstove fan on Amazon. Zero electricity, the heat moves it. Curtains, in a gauzy white with pompoms. Love the bulbs sprouting up!!!
I think you could find a white or yellow fabric and simply gather a strip of the green gingham as a ruffle. It would give continuity, but wouldn’t be overwhelming. Just a thought. Your bulbs are exciting!
How about using a beautiful old Table cloths for the large window , Tea towels for the small ones as Your Curtains !!! You find so many lovely ones ! xx
I love your videos! Thank for continuing to create even though you haven't felt great lately. I work from home and look forward to your videos every week. Sending you love from the US 🥰
I think you should match the green in the wallpaper and go solid color with the fabric. All the print already in the kitchen will carry the room. The green in the wallpaper is really nice and will make the room feel warm and homey.
I was so excited to see the little plant babies emerging from the ground. I also planted about 100 bulbs but here its still really cold and not even the crocus has sprung. Love your little rugs. They would also look cute as wall hangings. Hopefully you get some warmer flooring soon to go over the concrete. Maybe cork or floating vinyl? Its super easy to install. Cant wait to see more cabin videos.
I think for the curtains. It's nice to have 2 different colors to change out with seasons or if the get dirty. I like both the green check and your yellow idea
I would paint the door pink or teal/aqua and the trim around the door and the window in the door white to tie in the white trim around the other window. Such a pretty door.
Elise, please go and buy a fan to go on top of the woodburner - it is just metal and if you place it on top of the woodburner it spins when the top gets hot and spreads the heat around the room, it is economical and cuts down on the amount of wood you have to burn. I think that an orange curtain or sunny yellow would look lovely in your kitchen. I love the corner shelf and your new cushion and rugs. Your cabin is starting to look very homely.
I agree about the door. Leave the beautiful wood showing and paint only the door jamb / trim white.
Her cabin is in a harsh climate, if she doesn't paint the door it won't last long.

Omg please leave that door as is, it’s absolutely gorgeous, the craftsmanship on that door needs to be preserved
It's actually not good for the wood to leave it like it is now, and it would match the rest much better if painted :)

Perhaps you could put the checked green fabric on the little window between the two counters? And the yellow, warm one on the big window and the little window over the table. This would create two spaces--if that's what you want.
I love what you do to your cottage. It's so adorable. So you!
I would varnish the door the curtains yellow tones 🤔
Glad you had no damage 🤗 🍰☕🌹🌹🌹
Love Sue ❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
I love love love the embroidered wall you're creating! I love your little cottage!Such a happy place..And I love watching you fill it with all your awesome thrifted pieces!
Hi Elise....your Cabin is beautiful and getting even more gorgeous ...I so love your vlogs they are so warming and positive...and your garden is coming on nicely 😊...you are a lovely beautiful soul xx 😘
Ugg boots would also be great as slippers to be left there for when it’s so cold ♥️
You should definitely do yellow curtains! That would be beautiful!
I hope that you hear from your house soon. The outfit is lovely you have on.❤
You’re making the cottage looks adorable !!
I think warm terracotta curtains would be so cosy xx
I think you could find a white or yellow fabric and simply gather a strip of the green gingham as a ruffle. It would give continuity, but wouldn’t be overwhelming. Just a thought.
Your bulbs are exciting!
How about using a beautiful old Table cloths for the large window , Tea towels for the small ones as Your Curtains !!! You find so many lovely ones ! xx
yellow curtains ! i love that new pillow. your little get away is so cool.
I love your videos! Thank for continuing to create even though you haven't felt great lately. I work from home and look forward to your videos every week. Sending you love from the US 🥰
Trust your instincts on the green fabric. I would go with the yellow or white even on the curtains. White on the back door would look so nice!
Always Love the Cabin !
YES! KEEP the checkered for now because when I look at it, it gives me a feeling of outdoor greenery.
