This tutorial was incredibly informative and I feel much more confident in creating a course on my squarespace site. Thank you for your clear and concise explanation of each section.
Love this! I’m excited to create this! Does the payment receipt page trigger an email so client or customer has ability to access the course overview page at a later time? If so, would it be a log-in with username and password or a button/text with a link to access the page? If the payment does not automate an email confirmation with access ability, what do you recommend the process be for later access to the course?
Heey there Trish! It's great right - thrilled you're going to jump in! Fabulous question - and short answer is yes, when people purchase a course, they'll get a confirmation email & will set up a log in which means they can access their digital purchases from their account whenever they need (they'll also be able to refer back to this email if needed in the future) and you'll have their details safe n secure in your "profiles" section if you need to resend them anything. Make sure to show me your course when it's done!
Great video! Do you know if there are any options for a group login? For example, if an organization purchases a course for their employees, is there a way to set up logins for each employee under the organization's purchase/account?
Aweee - thank you kindly for those sweet words! And fabulous question - I'm going to have to defer that one to Squarespace support - I *think* not, but do go ahead and check with them!
Yup - well spotted - I defs think they got some inspo from the existing course platforms - which makes sense, as they're using good course design practice!
This was really helpful, thank you Paige. I have a LinkedIn course coming and have been wondering how to incorporate courses into Squarespace. Seeing it's all built into Squarespace now is really nice. The way they've priced it is very logical compared to many other platforms, where it's "all or nothing".
Awe how fab, wishing you the very best with your course launch Sam! It’s truly the best business model in the world! And agreed on the pricing, it feels very well thought through!
Thankyou Paige. The sales part was extremely helpful. Missed out the sale page (doh!) Do you have a video on the whole process of sale and payments as i can not find one from you in youtube? 😁
Awwe thanks for takin' the time to say Steph! I have a full tutorial on Squarespace Commerce right here for ya - ruclips.net/video/2Zwrcj18YYg/видео.html
Thanks Paige for the great walk through of this new Courses feature. I'm so excited to start using it on SquareSpace. I've been wishing they would add this capability for a long time.
Thanks for this!! If I wanted to create 1 page in the Navigation bar that visitors can go to, and see all of the courses I offer, is it by creating the Sales page as you demo at the end of your tutorial video? So, I would create a Sales page and name it "Courses" for example, and then create blocks that each have my courses listed for sale? I am just trying to picture having multiple courses available, but having them all listed on 1 page instead of having each one individually listed in the Navigation.
Fabulous question Katrina! You can defs create a page with all your courses on it (it wouldn't be a sales page exactly as that's normally for one thing) - but something a bit like I have for my freebies page here www.paigebrunton.com/freebies Then those items on that page can click through to a sales page for each course OR if your courses are pretty low ticket, a page like my freebies page may be enough on it's own (although that's relatively unlikely as usually people are going to need more info to invest). Hope that helps! Cheers!
Excellent post! I am planning to create a course in Spanish .. does Squarespace gives me that option...? and what payment plan you suggest to use if I want to create the course and create also my website promoting and hosting it: all within Squarespace...? thanks!
Fabulous question! You can add the Weglot plugin natively on Squarespace which allows you to have your site in multiple languages - I'd check with Squarespace support for how it integrates with Courses as that's quite new. Oh and for the plan - you get hosting included in any Squarespace plan. In terms of promoting, I'm not sure what you mean exactly - but generally speaking for most people the Business plan is a good fit (with a Courses add-on if you host a course of course!!) Hope that helps!
Heey Zoe! Thank you kindly for taking the time to say & great question, so glad you asked! The process is an automated one - once someone purchases a course they'll be guided through the steps!
This was fantastic! I'm finalizing my course now and we have a few people we'd like to send the course to share their experience on social media for our launch. Are you aware of any way to gift/send course access to an individual without charging them?
Oh fabulous idea! You can create a discount code in "Selling > Discounts" then choose digital products & set up your code for 100%. Just make sure to disable it afterwards so it can't be used by one of those discount code finding programs! Good luck!
How can I create a cohort course using SS? I am unable to fully duplicate courses and it seems to be limited to the scheduled date. Can you provide 1:1 assistance? I would love to figure out a workaround. Thank you.
Do you know if the payment plan will give us the money in one go, like Paypal "pay in 4" for example. Or will we receive one payment a month? I assume it's once a month but would be great if it was in one go! Thank you :)
Fabulous question Jessica! Yep - right now I have my courses in Teachable. I miiight move them in future, but am anticipating Squarespace Courses will evolve fast, so am going to hang on for now & see what happens! It's a big job to move everything - but I'm legit thrilled with what Squarespace have created so I'll defs be considering it!
@@PaigeBrunton thank you so much! So for someone just starting out with online education who is almost done building two courses and considering starting a second "education" website in addition to my main website, (wordpress) would you recommend going straight to Squarespace for both the website and courses? I was originally thinking of a SS website and then using Teachable or Kajabi. But, now with the new SS Courses, I'm not sure what might be the best option for me. Thoughts? One more question! Would Courses also be good to use as a space for customers to access opt in freebies? Meaning, if they opt in to a freebie on your website, would you want to direct them to your Courses to access it? Or stick with simple downloads for those?
Ooooh great question! So if you're just starting out I'd defs recommend Squarespace - you can even use the Courses functionality for free if you're on the business plan or above so it's a great way to get a proof of concept if you're ballin' on a budget!!

so the missing link for me is after they purchase and come back to my site... where do the login to get to the course the purchased. Are they having to go back to the receipt email to click a link to come back?? seems sort of strange that not one video on courses walk through this part. I just keep hearing the same thing that the buyer just comes back to continue the course... ok where are they logging in?
Fabulous question - thanks for asking! They log in at the top right hand side of the screen & they'll have a dropdown there which will show all of their digital purchases, so they can access their courses & get started from there. It's not quite as lovely as a page with the course thumbnails - but that might be something Squarespace does in the future (here's hoping!)
I can not frickin WAIT to use Courses! :)

you’re so welcome Austen!
Love everything you discuss here ! So useful !!
The overview page reminds me of teachable and thinkfic.

The customer has to create an account before they get to checkout. Is there any way around this as its a potential obstacle to purchase.
