    I could not agree more that the G9ii should have had the original G9 body. I love the feel, function, and handling of my G9 and will probably not be “upgrading.”

    The coffee sequence in the beginning was so professionally done, I thought it was a RUclips ad and was waiting for the skip button 😂

    I started with a Lumix fx300. 24-600 ff equivalent f2.8 through the range and weather sealed and IS. 4k video from which its possible to pull stills in camera. Its a good camera for the price A$500 at the time. As a beginner, I learned the basics and have since graduated to Olympus. I mostly photograph birds.

    Isn't Lumix the brand and Panasonic the manufacturer? Likewise, is Panasonic still a subsidiary of Matsushita?

    @castielvargastv7931 Why do you call the OG G9 body outdated? To each their own but I think the the new body is somewhat ugly and definitely less functional (ie. no top LCD, no front lever switch, no mode dial lock). Also, for us landscape/nature/macro photographers who only shoot video occasionally, Olys are far ahead with computational photography (ND, GND, Starry AF, in body focus stacking etc.) and has had the ability to use flash while focus bracketing for at least 7 years which is essential in serious macro photography. Panasonic could also have added the 'flip down' feature for the rear LCD like in the GH6/7 (very useful for low level photography when flipping the screen out gets in the way). I've use Lumix cameras for more than 15 years and loved them (FZ28, G3 and G9), but am now seriously looking at the OM System OM-1ii or a used Olympus EM-1iii.

    Have listen the discussion for the second time. As I said earlier there were not many talks about the position, future and how Lumix can achieve a part in the market.

    I have only OM System / Olympus lenses. I love them.
    I am, however, intrigued by the Panasonic/Leica 9mm for MFT. The closest I have to this lens is the Oly 8mm Fish Eye and Oly 7-14mm. If I can find it for a good price used, I might buy one. I like that it is rectilinear, wide angle, fast, and small.
    Any thoughts?

    I agree with your sentiments on the G9ii. I am a long time user of the OG G9 and was looking forward to the release of the mark ii expecting it would have the same, near perfect (for me) ergonomics but even better photo capabilities. What a let down when I saw what Panasonic actually released. I will never buy a G9ii and will probably jump ship and buy an OM Systems camera that is actually designed with photography as a priority. For me the G9ii should have been named the G11 (I believe there already was a G10 some time in the past). For a camera to be a 'mark ii', it should use the same battery, grip and L-bracket and at the very least have the same body ergonomics of its predecessor model. Feels like Panasonic Lumix have abandoned those of use who are photographers first.

      what is wrong with g92? to me it is the perfect camera and better than everything om system has. you cant expect lumix to use old outdated bodies forever. the new body is the future and its much more often sold than the antique g9 og body so it makes sense to use it. after all lumix is a business

      @@castielvargastv7931 To each their own, but I find the new body somewhat ugly and certainly less functional than the OG G9 (ie. no top display screen, no front lever, no mode dial lock). Panasonic could also have used the GH6/7 rear screen that can also flip up asl well as out. As I said, for me the new body is a step backwards. Functionally it seems to be well behind Olympus/OM Systems in computational photography (no built in GND or ND filters (I think), no Starry AF, no built in focus stacking,like the OG has). Also I believe that you still cannot use flash with focus bracketing which is essential for serious macro work (Oly has had this for 6 or 7 years). I'm a landscape/nature/macro photographer who shoots only limited video, so there is nothing new in the G9ii that is of any use to me.

    Does an OM-1 need a battery grip to make holding a 40-150mm f2.8 more comfortable?

    • @iandobson8846
      @iandobson8846 17 дней назад

      I would say that depends on the size of your hands. I have the EM1-MKII and I do use the battery grip a lot of the time when using the f2.8 40-150, as it gives it better balance in my large hands.

    Lumix is going crazy when they openly criticize some of their biggest M43 fans like Robin Wong and gaslight anyone who has any criticism of the S9 release.
    I love full frame, I love M43, but Lumix seems to just not care about photographers anymore.
