Recently started to drink whisky, this is my go to channel for info. Untill now never bought a bottle without consulting Horst and Ben. Thanks guys for introducing this beautifull spirit to me. Will go and buy the quinta ruban and will compare it with the 12 lasanta which is waiting to be opened in my cabinet. Greetings to all whisky lovers around the globe. Cheers!!!
I got my bottle of this yesterday. Truly wonderful. Definitely my favourite Glenmorangie. I agree the leading note is chocolate. After about half an hour and adding a little bit of water I did find some of the distillery character coming through too
I went from a macallan 12 double cask to this and I gotta say I’m in love. The floral notes in this has to be my favorite. The velvety rose kind of not is just amazing I’ve never quite tasted anything like this. My dad tried it and described a almost plum brandy thing going on and I can definitely see it.
I always enjoyed the taste of the 12 yr old QR. had two bottles of it. but felt it had just a little too much spice on the way down. I’ll give this one a try for sure.
Love the 12 year version of the Quinta Ruban..... Gonna have to grab a bottle of the 14 year version once it hits the shelf here in west central Wisconsin.... SLAINTE!
Just bought a bottle for first time, and taste was amazing. It has the sharpness of Scotch taste but at the same time very smooth and flavorful. Definitely is worthed and I will buy it again.
For a long time I thought that the revision from Glenmorangie of their finishes was less than hoped for. They did everything right - non-chilled filtered, higher proof, etc, but the old Portwood and Sherrywood finishes at 43% just seemed so much nicer for so long... Maybe they've improved the product, maybe my tastes have changed, maybe I've just forgotten with the passage of time how good those '90s era bottlings were... but lately I've been very impressed with what Glenmorangie is doing with their line of finished whiskies and both their Quinta Ruban and La Santa are well worthy of a spot on your shelf - or at least, mine!
Love the nose there is one funky note on the pallet for me i don't like overall very good but there something on the pallet that does not suit my taste but can't put my finger on it slight peat note but I know it's not peated so I'm confused
Got 0.7 bottle for 60 euros. This is indeed a really good whisky. Aroma is just overwhelming. I didn't find all the notes that you described, but i agree with chocolate, citrus and a hint of mint. I also can notice some autumn apples. Tried it as is at first, then added some water. With water aroma intensifies, but the taste becomes a little bit simple. Didn't decide yet which way i like it better. Anyway, this is a beautiful whisky, thank you for a review.
I tried this for the first time today I got hints of orange and honey I did not experience the nutmeg or chocolate overall it's a pretty good scotch to have on a nice cold day
Always enjoy your videos! I just brought home a bottle of this. I've had the previous 12 yr version numerous times and when I poured this is seemed to not have the reddish tint that the other version had. I myself didn't pick up as much of the port influence in the 14 as the 12yr. Wondering if perhaps they used 2nd or 3rd refill port casks and the 12 used first fill? Still, an excellent dram nonetheless.
I haven't heard it to be confirmed or denied, but the rumor is that the 12 year is the virgin filling on the port pipes, and they're having to run an extra 2 years on the second fill to get close to the flavor... I'm guessing the port pipes being used are rather costly, so maybe trying to get what they can out of them. There's a few reviews out of the 12yr side-by-side vs the 14yr, and nearly everyone is saying the former is definitely a bit richer (and obviously darker). I have the 12yr, but the 14's haven't hit my shelves yet... do have to admit I went out and purchased a few additional bottles of 12 just in case since it is one of my favorite Glenmo's.
An older age statement instead of going NAS? 46%? Thank you, Glenmorangie! How about returning Lasanta to the same standards? How about an uncolored, NCF original? Glenmorangie got me into whisky but I don't want to be pandered to :-)
So, I am the type that tries something different on a weekly basis, since trying this one I have not been able to try anything else. I love it that much. Highly recommended.
Man I wished I had seen this video earlier ! I just bought a litre of Elementa 14 and I have no clue how that one is, having not opened it. Does anyone here have any opinions?
Mr. Horst Luening, could you answer a question for me please? I bought a bottle of The Balvenie 21 portwood about 11 years ago, and I really didn't like it-- and I tend to find enjoyment in nearly any whisky I try. I think it wise to consider your recommendations, especially to consider one of your top tens for a purchase...so my question is, do you like The Balvenie 21 Portwood? If so, I believe I will steer clear of the Glenmorangie Q.R..
I love peated scotch whiskey and if you asked me my top ten it's a 3 peated scotch 2 reys and 5 bourbons this is fighting a bourbon dow the list if not a peated whiskey.
I'm thinking of picking this one up but i've read some reviews and they say that there is a a hint of smoke. The thing is, i dont like the smoke taste in whisky. Can someone tell me: is there or is there not a little smokey taste in this one?
Check your local Costco. They are offering a 3 pack (Original, Lasanta 12, Quinta Ruban 14) for $99.99, and has recently been reduced to $89.97 in some locations. In Albuquerque NM it's a $150 value from Total Wine. I got the 3 pack that had a QR 12 for $70 on closeout last year. Crazy deals. Good luck and enjoy.
So if you have never tried the Quinta Ruban (but really want to), would you run to get a 12 while they are still on the shelves, or would you wait for the 14 to appear? Will the price change? (I almost got one 2 weeks ago, but I got a Glendronach 18 instead, which is heaven.
I have drank the 12 year old since it came out and it was perhaps my favourite Scotch. This 14 year old, after 2 bottles and direct comparisons, sadly is nowhere near as good. It lacks the dark, depths of the 12. So, so sad. I'm surprised this wasn't commented on here...…..
I don't like this as compared to the 12. It's too saccharine sweet now. And the fruitiness that made it so good is now way in the background. It was a letdown to pair with a few different cigars. I specifically brushed my teeth, rinsed with mouthwash, and then drank nothing but water for 2 hours before trying this in an old fashioned glass. It was cold outside, but that doesn't affect the 12. I'm beginning to wonder if the samples are higher quality vs. the actual full bottles. The 12-years started getting inconsistent in late 2018, so maybe I got a "bad" bottle, but I was disappointed.
Had to wait til spring 2020 here in Canada. Worth the wait!

One of the best I’ve had
Good stuff. I'm in love with it.

Thats a big box for such a little bottle. Damm inflation!..............:)
Lol
Enjoying it now and am very pleased. Easy drinking and smooth

Whatever camera you're using, it puts out a very nice and sharp image. Awesome quality.
It has become enjoyable, even in my top 3. Top 5 for sure. Always on hand.

Agreed!
Just tried this for the first time, love the dark fruity and chocolate flavours, like chocolate raisins.
Excellent dram! Price has already started to climb in the States.
This is exciting. I love Glenmorangie and collect their bottles. I prefer the sherry Cask but not by much. Anxiously waiting
Love the nose there is one funky note on the pallet for me i don't like overall very good but there something on the pallet that does not suit my taste but can't put my finger on it slight peat note but I know it's not peated so I'm confused
I bought this as a gift today. I hope they like it 🤞🤞🤞. Thanks for the review 💪💪💪

Just ordered this...£45...still great value over last 2 years..not gone up in price.

JBallard did you prefer the 12 or 14 JB?
Very like your review!Where can I find same glasses?
Great review! One my favorites
Finally found a bottle of this today. It was actually being stocked when I walked in the store to just get some ice this morning.
Been waiting for this review!

Honestly whatever it is I don't mind an extra 2 years of aging on my whiskey :D
What a fantastic description of this whisky! I also get honeydew mellon out of it

Cant find it anywhere in Socal :/
I love this one.
In terms of the palate: how does it differ from a well-matured cognac/ brandy?
Man I wished I had seen this video earlier ! I just bought a litre of Elementa 14 and I have no clue how that one is, having not opened it. Does anyone here have any opinions?
Do you know which scottish distillery has the cooling water running down the outside of the pot still

Just had 1st sip now. Oh, this is amazing stuff, really it's smoothest 46% whisky. Worth every penny! Pls not whole bottle ,just a few sips
My QR 12 is almost finished so the 14 will be a definite replacement for it.
I'm thinking of picking this one up but i've read some reviews and they say that there is a a hint of smoke. The thing is, i dont like the smoke taste in whisky.
Can someone tell me: is there or is there not a little smokey taste in this one?
I don't get smoke from it.
That sounds like a damn good dram.
For those of you who’ve tried both, do you prefer the 12 or this new 14?
Prefer the 14, much deeper flavours
14 is more like Macallan
Is it non chill filtered?
Yes.
When can I get this in the states?

"Will the price change?" That's about the only thing you can always count on!
That Glendronach 18 is a real beauty. I'm envious.
@@ThePeaceableKingdom in central europe the price is same for the new and the old one side by side you can buy them for 54 euro
@@strasnodimke That's great! In 10 years the old one will be 100 € at auction. Lol!
My new favorite ....with dark chocolate wow
The nectar d'or is already always been 12, there is no 14.. Did you mean change it from 12 to 10?
Sadly it went from 12 to NAS
Drinking me a glass now on the rocks with my Oliva cigar.
Is this artificially colored? Sorry if this was discussed and I missed it.
It isn't
If it is it’s just a little
Luxurious Scotch
Green & red... portuguese flag 😁

It's portugal, so it's pronounced differently
@
I hate that I can hear them swishing.... ha
For 55£ hatd to beat this❤️
Horst
I'm up for adoption.......just in case your interested :)
Fantastic scotch.

It's not mouthwater, guys. That heavy flushing that you do is disgusting and absolutely unnecessary for proper tasting.
😂
Because of them I also do that when I taste whisky 😅
Where' the coke?
I cannot like this young guy... it's like a "fake whisky"
