I thought I’d let you know Greig Fraser mentioned you on the Team Deakins podcast on colour. He didn’t mention your channel name but I think he was talking about you. Keep up the great channel, super handy
The hanging method for the tube lights is something I'm actually trying to figure out right now so this video is perfect. All sorts of tube lights or light bars advertise or sell with eyebolts but then then the retailer's have zero suggestions for how to hang them with the other optional accessories and looking online for efficient methods you discover it's not exactly a hot topic. The be all end all would be something like what you've got set up but with a spring loaded holder of some sort on the top end. Like an auto locking tape measure. Just pull the fixture down where you want it then press the unlock button, raise it up, let go and it's locked in at the shorter length.
I recently had to hang a 300' line of string lights zig-zagging over a yard on hooks drilled into parallel overhangs on each side of the yard. The director kept asking for minor height adjustments which required me to visit each hook to pass the slack from the previous zig to the next zag and repeating all the way down the line. I really did not expect him to be so specific about the height or I might have looked for a solution like this beforehand. Would've saved me 30 minutes of work. Thank you for continuing to provide such excellent resources for our work!
I don't know if this is the first tips & tricks video you've done or just the first that I've seen, but I love it. Thank you, and please do many many more.
Brilliant Thanks so much To be honest shot bag sometimes is not available on set or even in rent(in some countries) By the way what is the best little grip for this small lights...some magic arm...and small legs...(Like on end of monopode) Hooks are brilliant
Great vid like always! Are you planning on making a review of the new Nanlite Alien 150c and 300c? I would especially like to see how they compare to the Aputure Nova series.
By the way, I forgot to mention. Great video and an awesome idea. The hooks are $20 for 6 and are sold out. Currently, they are available as a pair for $10.
I haven't tried fitting the hook onto the eyebolts that u have, they may be too thick for the hook, but if they are I could just use a cable tie between the hook and the eye bolt to get the connection.
I love it, I just got the supplies, greetings from Portland, Oregon.
Yes! More of this, please! Such great information!
agreed! love to see more tips and even setups.

@@00WhiteBlade my prior solution to a job like that was to say I'm already booked that day.

This is a great idea! I would also now use it for product shot sets where I need to hand and adjust props or products! Thank you!

These are great Thank you! Keep em coming :)
Brilliant!
Thanks! I think I’ll give this a try.
My method for this sort of tube hanging has always been to tie sliding hitches with trick line, but this would be much stronger & quicker!
Always great info - thanks!

😲steel shot bag, got any good recommendations for suppliers?
@@MachinistOfPhotography only if you are in Melbourne, and there may be a minimum order requirement
If you need a lot, buy empty saddle sandbags and fill with steel blasting shot.
Is it crazy to think I can hang a large COB LED (e.g. Aputure 600D with a softbox) in a a semi-permanent studio fixture using these wire rigs?
@@kipling1957 I wouldn't
That wire is $32 a spool on Amazon here in the US
Wow, bit of a price difference

Hi Andrew, would/have you use the picture wire setup/technique with the Pavoslims + hook attachments? Wonder if it works well?
Thank you!
