Tried your method - and it didn't work! But, I wasn't paying enough attention. The key is to cut the shaft as close to the cage bracket as possible; then, use the sawsall. Actually, a brilliant solution and to come up with it on the job was sweet. Saved me lots of money - new cages are very expensive, saved me time and energy and frustration that comes from only knowing so much. Great posting - thanks!
I was so excited watching your video because I have the same problem with a very very rusty shaft and now I'm going to try your method on mine and I know it's going to work. ty
Thank You, Mando...!! I obtained a beautiful, like-new 5000 cfm sidedraft from a homeowner who went with a new MasterCool. The only thing wrong was a shaft that was almost severed. Don't know how that happened, but with your method, that cooler is getting a new shaft(and bearings). Cheers!!!
Changed a shaft today used this method cutting old rusted one out worked great. Fernando I’m in California shaft is about 12 bucks bearings are about 8 bucks each
You don't even show the removal. What use is such a video if you don't go through all of the steps. I've reconditioned several dozen coolers, and it's not always a simple process. If you're going to give advice, try providing all the steps and make sure you point out the difficulties one might incur. This one gets a thumb's down.
If you have any mechanical knowledge it's very easy to figure out what he was talking about. Yes it would have been easier to follow if you had all the steps but I imagine he was "on the clock" and didn't have time to stop and video all the steps, for what he did post it was very helpful!
