    I had to search for a quad only yesterday. It was a best case scenario. Big field of fairly shortcut grass, quad still powered, beeper on, vtx broadcasting (only static until I got close though) and I could kind of figure out the direction using telemetry lost/recovered messages. It was only about 150m away. Even when I was only 3m away from it I couldn’t see it. Took 45 min at least!
    So I can appreciate this amazing rescue :)

    • @Olivier-C
      @Olivier-C  Год назад +2

      I guess you have a Betaflight quad with no GPS, maybe you could consider adding one ? Having GPS coordinates from the telemetry is so critical. I had the case once where I crashed a 5" quad in a mountain, no GPS, and could not hear the beeper because it was between 2 noisy torrents, took me forever to find it. Also the risk of the battery ejecting or going low, the VTX is pulling amps on a grounded quad, it won't broadcast for very long. Even worse with an O3 or any HD video system, it will quickly go into safety shutdown because of overheating...

    • @autonoob
      @autonoob Год назад +1

      @@Olivier-C good tip, thanks. I actually do have a gps. Didn’t know you could have gps coords in the telemetry. I put them up in the osd but haven’t got an sd card for the dvr 🙄 but I was only going to fly ”carefully” and not crash. Ironically I was testing return to home at the moment it crashed. I think the battery couldn’t keep up with the full throttle commanded, it started going nuts and I might have disarmed it instinctively when it hit the flight ceiling. But no footage so can’t know for sure :/
