I have never understood people who like ' happy' music . They see the world in a conformist mindless way. The group. Face. Muse are gravitas. Empathy within reason is our finest instinct.
Absolutely love Muse. Matt Bellamy is one of the single most talented musicians in the world. If he'd been born 300 years ago he would have been another Mozart.
It's in A, not B - the guitar is tuned A-A-D-D-G-B-E (where the two D strings are exactly the same pitch). I've never understood why Matt used a 7-string, it can be played perfectly well on a 6-string with the E dropped to A (assuming your 6th is heavy enough).
I think if you need to experience the genius of muse - you need to listen to their 3 exogenesis songs - ideally 1 after another.. Very theatrical/operatic - other worldly. Its the first time I recognised matt Bellamy genius - and ever since its been unrivalled
I love how you talk about the music theory in these videos, I don't even mind the pauses haha I'm going to make a song request that I think most Muse fans will disagree with, but I'd love to hear you react to Madness. It's one of their newer songs (was 2012 really 9 years ago?) and very very different than what you've heard from them so far. Keep up the great videos!
You are correct. There early stuff is raw but super-talented and insightful. There progression and later hooks, like Radiohead, are develop and add so much more. Both bands are amazing live and in recording as they don’t do the predictable pop but are super accessible and clever.
Who else would use the phrase 'Open - minded....I'm sure I used to be so free' - devastating indeed in its delivery. He was reigning the falsetto in. To sound hysterical and confused.
Muse are one of the greatest live acts on the planet- u listened to a really old version of that tho, there’s much better, more recent versions around- also, please react to Stockholm syndrome (live), or uprising (live), or psycho (live🥴) all by muse 🥰 and do it soon as I have no patience 😆
A masterpiece that requires repeated experience at full volume. Especially their BDO performance . I don't believe anything comes even close. He has the shortest measured vocal chords ever.
Do you know how many musicians can't really sing? A lot and it always reveals itself when they sing LIVE. They can really rip in the studio though. Then there is Matt Bellamy!............... :).
Nice reaction, maybe You can react to Unnatural Selection Live at The Den Muse ❤️ It is one of his best performances of that great song. Saludos desde México!!!!
@@THEDavidHeretic Woh - Thank you - you are a most perceptive and talented gentleman. Enlightening and incisive reviews even upon first listening. Excellent.
I like your pov as a musician. A remix of this song just came a few weeks ago, hopefully somebody in the patreon world would recommend to do a comparison instead a reaction between the new mix and the old studio version, the new mix sounds better imo
With the falsetto (and I may be missing the technical strong/weak distinction you are making), what always gets me are places where he sings an additional "guitar" part. You hear this in knights of Cydonia and the last minute of Showbiz, and both of those involve (what I hear as) really strong, powerful falsetto moments. People talk about Micro Cuts and for good reason, but these are the ones where it stands out to me.
I mean, I play a 6-string bass, which has a low B string. I have no issue with it, as long as we don't go any lower than drop A. After that it's gonna start to sound reeeeeally muddy.
Hi David great video as always, awesome to see you reacting to more Muse - I hope there's more to come! I've got another RHCP song for ya from their 2011 album 'I'm With You', the first of two to feature guitarist Josh Klinghoffer in place of John Frusciante. The song 'Police Station' I believe beautifully demonstrates their ability to pull back a little and execute a wonderfully euphoric and polished song. It's not like anything you've reviewed on your channel before by them, it's more of their later sound. This album wasn't massively well reviewed when it came out but I for one think it's very underrated. ruclips.net/video/iJd3Io3-joY/видео.html
David - if you want to experience bizarre contextual liberties being taken then I would much appreciate your reaction to my use of Muse - Take a Bow (old Hi - Fi going strong) to accompany my horribly realistic American Civil War Cyclorama video (apart from the wobbly camera perhaps) - third most recent video - on my channel. Thank you. It's experi-mental lol.. Sort of.
May I suggest that Citizen Erased is axiomatic in its melancholic truth, power and beauty. Thank you. I hope that Lord Heretic is well and rocking with Joy. How is she these days?
@@THEDavidHeretic Lovely stuff. ( Do see my Monument to Suffering -Franklin 1864 - truth and realism - mass experience in extremis). Respect to all Heretics.

So true !
He blows most classical into obscurity. Relentless power. The drum beat of time. Always there with our heartbeats.

Muse, they're so good specially the early stuff

It's a Masterpiece ❤
This is real early muse. Its second album, and this whole concert was in France promoting said second album's release.
I'd be interested in seeing your reaction to anything live from their lastest album, Simulation Theory, and how they've grown and changed etc

You can see the influence of Jeff Buckley on his voice.. Two great musicians…

His symbols are like a supercharged V8 with awesome engine - braking. My XJR lol. So is Lord Bellamy's Voice. Doesn't need brakes.

The basic requirement of a good song, I believe, is three distinct parts. Verse, chorus and then climax lol.
