I am 59 and how do I keep a younger look with maturity? 1. Keep an open mind. 2. Exercise 3. dress for the occasion. 4. Embrace grey hairs and keep them trimmed. 5. wearing glasses and have the right frame for your face.
I’ve had to wear glasses since I was 5 years old. I tried contacts a couple times but could never get used to them. I think certain styles of glasses can make you look younger, which is the option I go for. I’m often taken for being younger than I am. I’ve just turned 51, but people I meet take me for early 40s. I love the look on their faces when I tell them.
I think trying to look "older" or more mature has it's place as well. Specially for the young professional who wants to be taken seriously. If I have short haircut and a clean shave I tend to look quite young. So for my last interview as a consultant I actually went with glasses and a little well groomed beard and a good suit of course. It did the job.
On facial hair: I'm over 50, grew a beard that is blond-white in color a few months ago and have been told by several people that it makes me look younger than I appeared before the beard.
I think the facial hair thing depends on how old the person is. if younger, facial hair will make you look older usually. however if you are older, facial hair might do the opposite, because it will hide some of the aging of your skin on your face.
As always great tips to look younger. I have discovered laughter keeps is one of the best way to look younger. Just even a smile will do the job sometimes.
smiling will give you lines in your skin. which make you look really old, and can't be fixed without botox. I smiled a lot when young and now I have a stupid line on one side of my mouth that I am not a fan of, and now I barely ever smile to avoid more lines, etc. :) but other than that, I agree, smiling is good.
I use GX Control. Wash my hair as normal with it. As a shampoo it is fine. It gets rid of 90% of any grey. Once a week I use 'Just for Men' autostop to remove the other 10%. It blends into my darkened hair fine.
I need to do all 5 to look younger, lol. I have gray hair, a full beard, lot of gray in my wardrobe, still working on more fitted clothing and I wear glasses (near sighted, need them at all times). I still have a pretty full head of hair (in my mid 30s), so at least I have that going for me.
I am 78, have a beard but dye it, am bold but wear a masculine cheap wig in the color of my dyed beard, but it looks great, did not gain weight since I was 20, exercise and wear well fitting clothes of any color I like on a certain day. They still ask me to come and help at work at my age, and I think my appearance plays a role in it.
I definitely want to look... not older, but more mature. People are always looking at me and saying "what? You're 23? I never would have guessed you were older than 19 or 20." Damn it I'm an adult of legal drinking age I don't want people thinking I'm some immature kid lol sadly my style tends to lead more towards comfort than anything else so it tends to be hard.
I’ve embraced my grays, but I have curly hair so it looks good I think. Navy is my go to for dress wear. I shave almost everyday, I highly recommend the preshave oil from DSC, it will totally reduce ingrown hairs. I also highly, highly recommend dudes get a real damn skincare routine. Easiest way to look young is clear, glowing skin.
When you get to be older, the opposites of some of his advice makes you look younger. If you still have dark hair, a stubble beard helps you look younger and shades help to conceal bags and dark spots under the eyes as well as make your eyes appear larger.
The trick to being in shape is always staying in shape. I split my workouts 45 mins in morning and 45 in the evening 4 days per week the other days I just walk 4 to 5 miles. Eat right and you will be in great shape. Trust me I’m 69 and have always worked out.
The Modest Man Not at all inspiring. I have always lived this way and it is just a habit and nothing more. Although I do not eat any fast foods, and I have to have a little chocolate now and again. I recommend getting up just a little early each morning and doing 100 push-ups, this will just start the habit of exercise.
So basically I should wear grey, grow a beard, and start wearing glasses? Great video though Brock. Love your videos and articles, keep up the great work
I don't agree with the "Go with a charcoal suit to an interview". If you're applying for your first job (or you're still young), navy is best. Why? Gray symbolizes maturity, age & experience. Whereas navy symbolize dynamic, young & proactive. For entry jobs (engineering or finance, for example), dynamism are qualities that valued, since you'll evolve in a sector with constant innovation.
That's interesting. Does it depend on what field you are going into though? Like if you were going into a field were age and experience were preferred, like law, would it be better to wear a charcoal suit?
I actually figured you were in your thirties but looked *really* young for your age you dont speak like someone in their twenties. (trust me this is a compliment I know 40 year old men who speak like they are 20 -_-)
As an Asian man I'm more interested to know how to look older than I appear. Some asians are cursed with a baby face that won't disappear until you're 60. It's good that I don't have to deal with it, but there's a draw back in that you're often treated like you're younger, which may not be the best in places like the office or in situations where you need to show authority. I'm 27 and people often mistake me for a college or high school student.
Can't believe you're in your 30s! I always thought you were just in your 20s (take it as a compliment). Also congrats on growing the channel so fast. Always looking forward to your content.
hi Brock, I understand you having to promote some products every now and then. If you feel the need to put (part of) the promotion in the middle of the video, keep it short (like in this one). Don't turn into another TMF, RMRS or Alpham, where 50% of the video is an ad, placed in the middle of the video. I watch this video because I want to know about looking older/younger, not because I want to watch an ad. Also, love the recap!
I personally think this one was well done. Most people, me included, don't care that much if you throw a short ad in there, after all, you do need to make money some how. As long as it stay short, like this one, I'm happy. Long ads that are half the video make me click away, and I'd hate to miss quality content just because the ads were too long
I very much agree with you. I've unsubscribed from several similar channels because the video is 75% advertising with minimal real content in it. TMF and AlphaM have questionable value as advice since everything is built around the ad.
I’ve always had people think I was older because of my gray hair. I’ve been going gray since I was 17 and in my early 20s people thought I was in my mid 30s, and now I’m in my early 40s people think I’m in my 50s because of my gray hair.
Raphael from the gentleman's gazette said that dollar shave club razors aren't super sharp. Ofc they are cheaper than brands like Gillette. But I think his words are credible.
Hey man, I notice you look generally sad in terms of facial expressions, I hope you're nothing but happy and content, and that "sad" look is pure subjective and apparent. Love your videos man, I've been a subscriber since the beginning!
I guess a nice tip to look younger is to wear more shorts instead of pants if you can. I want to look older, so even when it's kinda hot, I grab some lightweight pants instead of shorts, for example.
Great to some points against the norm. Thank you. I am a 6.2” 40 year old and workout. So I tend to look like a bouncer or meat head. Could you advise how I should dress to tone down my frame but to rather look sophisticated?
Why would someone WANT to look like a teenager wearing a suit? You will not be taken very seriously in 95% of the suit-wearing world (outside of fashion & marketing) in these trendy 2-sizes-too-small skinny suits, especially in navy blue with the light brown shoes. 12 years from now, you will be looking back at this trend and shaking your heads. Guaranteed.
6. Wear different shoes, laced dress shoes provide a perception of maturity but on a young looking man will make him appear like he borrowed from his grandfather's closet. It may be a staple of men's wear but laced dress shoes nowadays looks out of place like fedoras or women's white gloves.

I have noticed that most frquently you wear brown shoes with blue clorhes, specially suits. And quite light ones. My prefernce with blue suits is dark or black shoes. What do you think about that?
I can only grow hair on my upper lip, under my lower lip and my chin. So I always end up looking like a weird mix of John Wilks Booth and Lucifer. So either way not good.
You gotta skip leg days a lot of times to be able to wear skinny jeans. I tried them on and there's no way a grown, healthy man can (or should?) wear them. As a teenager, you have less muscle mass, I would have been able to wear them back then. I have low body fat and I'm not a body builder, but I run frequently, and that's enough to fill out my 501 Levi's in waist size 32.
@@BrockMcGoff , The details can be found in Dead Doctors Don't Lie by Dr Joel Wallach, M.D.. Gray, white or brittle hair is often, but not always, caused by copper deficiency. Just anecdotally, I'm using copper supplements for that purpose myself and I'm pleased with the results.

I’m basically ethnic Chinese when it comes to beard growth...
Hahaha, not much choice, but at least it saves time! Literally 30 seconds with an electric shaver and you're done. =)
I’m a beardless leprechaun. I looks creepy when I grow facial hair.
Lol you don't need to be Chinese to have no facial hair. I've seen Chinese men with thick facial hair, very rare though. Mines very patchy
Brock, you really killed it mate, Brilliant stuff !!!

Back in the 90s if you wore fitted clothing you looked older and now it's the opposite. Lol
I have noticed that most frquently you wear brown shoes with blue clorhes, specially suits. And quite light ones. My prefernce with blue suits is dark or black shoes. What do you think about that?
I only wear light brown shoes with lighter blue suits. Dark blue (navy) suits get dark brown, burgundy or black shoes.
my tip: take care of your teeth and whiten them off and on. nice teeth brighten up your whole face regardless of your age.
People think I look 35 or older and I’m 28.
How to look younger:
Step 1 or should i say Step 0: GREAT Genetics
I always thought you are in your mid-twenties. I was so wrong.
If you do the opposite of number 4 and wear ill-fitting clothes, you won't necessarily look old. You just won't look good.
True, if they’re ill fitting. But a more relaxed silhouette (partial pants break, for example) isn’t necessarily bad fit.

Contact lenses?

Suncream factor 50 helps.
What boots are you wearing in the outdoors? 3:25 into the video.
Those are Cole Haan moc toe chukkas (or “ranger mocs”). I got them at a secondhand shop so not sure if they’re still being made.
Thanks! They’re some great looking boots, I’m looking for some similar boots and just wanted to know the style of them.
