Their children don't call themselves brahmakshtriya. Kayastha are caste of scribes, they mostly used to work as peons. Later after the Britishers they got bit power because they helped Britishers.
Kele ki machli waali Sabji is my favorite specially my mom's cooking... I am also from kayasthas family... 😋😋 my mom using Mustard seed gravy with all these masalas using in this receipe 😋😋
Kayasth also love to eat mangori. I remember one winter afternoon when my grandmother sat on the terrace, the mild sun cast a glow on her face, and she showed me how to make the perfect mangori. She took little bits of ground moong dal in pinches between her thumb and ring finger and dropped the little pearls on clean newspaper sheets, in neat rows. Loved it ☺️

I'm a Kayastha and even though i don't believe in the caste system but the cultural legacy which every caste lineage brings needs to be preserved. Surely not at the expense of the division which the caste system brings. Everyone should explore each other's culture.

As a bengali kayastha from Kolkata with root from east bengal I can very easily identify this dish .It's called kach kolar kofta in our home and this dish is passed down from generations to generations in our family ..We regularly cook this dish but with little twist .
