You can cook Taro leaves and make fritters with them. In India they cook sweet and sour tarro leaves. They use chickpea flour, lemon juice, dry mango powder and some chilli flakes to give that spice. The batter is applied and then they arrange the leaves in layers to turn into a roll, steamed the leaf roll for half an hour.
The steamed roll is sliced with thickness to an inch and then fried turning them crispy. Sweet and sour, delicious with salad or just as snack.
wow! I'll definitely try this. Thanks!
Wow you have so much variety in your garden! I love it❤. We have several citrus trees, regular bananas (not sure what kind.. ) and a large pod of wild bananas..they all came with the house😁; we live in Los Angeles. So, I'm still learning about timing of seed planting & such. We've left a lot of weed ground cover go just to protect the soil from the heat. Made sure to pull the sticker plants & those grasses that can get in animals ears/noses & cause problems. Thanks for sharing your amazing garden😊
Wow. Thank you! Sounds like your garden is coming along! 🙂
If you can plant mulberry, then perhaps you can also plant jack fruit. Try planting that. Its the same family.
Oh, I've tried. Our winters get down to 12 or 20 degrees Fahrenheit some winters. It keeps coming back, but it gets knocked down waay too hard. Maybe I'll try more protection until it reaches further maturity.
My mature fruit trees did not produce fruit this year 2023, maybe the 2022 December hard freeze?. My Pakistani mulberry is 2 years old but no fruit yet. I planted two new Almond trees ("All-in-One" and "Penta"). My Dorsett apple tree needed a polinator so I planted two new Apple trees (Anna and "Beverly Hills"). My Blueberry Bushs died about 3 years ago... I learned what happened ... so I planted two more Blueberry bushed ("Jewel" and "Sunshine BLue")... lots of fun !!!!
Yeah, those freezes seem to be just enough to mess with us!
I sent out an email to you recently inviting you to be on our new gardening show. I hope you got it, we'd love to have you on our program.
I do not see an email, but I would be happy to join you on your show! Did you send to dmlippold at gmail dot com?
