About the yearly TV-event: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melodife...
Dirty Loops was not competing but part of the entertainment that takes place during the telephone voting. (This event is like the Super Bowl in Sweden, with a high-budget mid-time show that about 50% of Swedens population are watching) It's a tradition that last years winning song is rearranged by another artist, and this year Dirty Loops was contacted by the TV-station.
The other act performing in the mid-time show besides Dirty Loops was Norwegian duo YLVIS (Famous for their 629+ million views of The Fox).
17 dancers from the festival crew were used, and some of them equipped with laser gloves, shooting a laser version of the light show used on the original song's light show.
Dirty Loops performance was VERY unexpected by Sweden and stirred up a lot of feelings on social media. One reporter was so offended by the use of slap base on "her melody festival stage" that she wrote the most funny review we've ever read:
"OMG WTF, now it's mid time show when a band that's called Dirty Loops is doing a hidious funk cover of "Undo"? Hahaha this is really awful! What is HAPPENING on my melody festival stage, so much slap base. Sweden can't TAKE this much slap base! I honestly think this is is the worst thing I've heard in my entire life. Speechless. SPEECHLESS.
Time for jury votes, and meanwhile we can all take a deep breath and try to digest the fact that that someone managed to not only butcher, but dismember murder, bury so it could rotten, dig up again and build a slap base of the remains of "Undo". CONGRATULATIONS SWEDEN!"

They made everyone sound ridiculous at the Swedish Final. Almost cruel to bring them in. What a band!
I never watch Swedish melody festival(and never will eather), so I can't say anything about the other perfomances. However, putting DirtyLoops at the same stage should have made the rest of them going home.
@@bjornfalk9133 yes, men sanningen är att de flesta tycker tvärt om.
I guess if you're into safe, trite music you either expand your horizons to embrace a band like Dirty Loops or you shut down and start making ludicrous declarations about "ruined songs, et al."
@@arnekronvall817 och VAD säger det (ditt inlägg) oss? Majoriteten inkl. medelvärdet för musikalitet ligger så ohjälpligt lågt så minoriteten ska tysta bevittna skeppet sjunka?...
True! Some evidence: ruclips.net/video/VOkIaA5uM5w/видео.html
Whoever wrote the review in the description doesn't know music THIS is the production value this band deserves they are all phenomenal musicians! They are saving music and what I don't get is how people can't get used to them turning songs upside down with their music theory knowledge. I find it fascinating not only music theory wise I think it's extremely enjoyable to listen to. And for the critic to knock Henrik's (sp?) slap playing when he is one of the most talented bassists in the world is what is truly cringe worthy...
Unfortunately I think it all comes down to-at some level-many poeples inability/unwillingness to let their brains stretch even a little bit. Loops are always reaching for the stars and too many people are content to just stand where they are and stare at the same old ground. It's why the radio is filled with so much un-memorable, un-remarkable music that is selling millions of copies. We're so lucky that musicians like DLoops are willing to keep doing what they do in spite of the fact they'll probably never receive the wide spread accolades they deserve.
Also, even if someone doesn't like this arrangement of the song, what's the purpose of getting angry that they "ruined" the song? The original still exists, they can just go listen to that one instead if they don't like slap base lol
@@MS-bk7lv Unfortunately when someone is ready to elevate their subjective judgement to fact status logic doesn't usually enter into the equation.
@MS: Yes, but they who comment don't get it, do they?
@@robote7679 😉 yeah…
My goal for promoting this band (as an internationally published, national award-winning music journalist) ... Super Bowl half-time show 2017 or 2018. Who's w/ me on this?
Hell yeah, bro
+Robert Kaye I'm wit cha, but it will take more than being an award-winning music journalist to break Dirty Loops in the states. As weird as it sounds, their best chance for getting a grammy and on the Super Bowl half-time show, is to produce someone else that is already internationally popular. Stevie Wonder would be the obvious choice :-)
+bourgeoisbrats Don't you mean "to be produced by someone else that is already internationally popular"? Their executive producers, David Foster and Andreas Carlsson.
Robert Kaye Nope. Looptified was actually a really good pop CD, when you consider what DL would need to sound like to be seen as a pop act in the states! Lmao. It was as good as (some would say better than) anything David Foster would have produced :-)
But the fact is that not a single song made it into the top 40...in the states. Why? Because the pop music industry in the states has a built-in resistant to anything musical or vocal, which displays evidence of musical training/talent. Why? Because for the last decade, they have been promoting the notion that you don't need musical training/talent to be a hit artist or producer. You just need to believe you're an artist or producer, and have a fan base that believes the same :-)
The 90s was the time that DL would have been immediately accepted in the pop music industry, in the states. Today, radio execs and DJs in the states, see DL like Snarkey's Puppy or the Chick Corea Elektric Band...with a white boy lead singer that sounds like Stevie Wonder. Neither of those fit into a world that is economically tied to artists like Taylor Swift and Adele.
The general feeling, as expressed by L.A. Reid, is that Stevie Wonder is a legacy artist that will probably never have another #1 pop or R&B record. I would agree, if there was no DLs. They have everything needed to produce/arrange and co-write a new Stevie Wonder CD, which would be a monster hit for him. I wouldn't say the same for a David Foster produced/arranged new Stevie CD.
+bourgeoisbrats Valid points, all. Or, perhaps DL would feature Stevie Wonder on several of their songs for the upcoming album ... ?
Every member of this band is so ridiculously talented.
Who the hell could possibly be against slap bass? That's a new one for me.
This band is beautiful.
Cool
+Garrett Williamson came from stream and this is very similar to your music garrett.
+Garrett Williamson this band is amazing actually
I remember watching this show on Tv, and I don't normally watch the Eurovision Song Contest... I was stunned and shocked, in complete delight, by the bass (and everything)!! 😁💖💖💖💖
I thought: "well, finally something I could vote for!" 😂
He has so much range its unbelievable
Not only bis abilities
Music really just too good for most people to grasp. They deserve every success.
They managed to sneak in the chords of "Hit Me" in the chorus...
I thought I was the only one who noticed haha!
Michael Obed same!!
Keith Runes yup I caught that!!
Yep...i heard it. That major chord
Et t'as trouvé ça tout seul ?ptdr.
THE VOICE, THE MUSIC ..... a blessing from GOD!
This is what all boy bands should strive to be.
+Jan van Oene Get off the boy bands mindset. They're young. They're handsome. So what? So were the Beatles. Do you consider the Beatles as a "boy band"?
+Robert Kaye Well... yeah! initially they kind of were! :p But in any case, my comment was only in jest so... relax man!
That chord at 3:37. Literal chills every time.
...I'm pretty sure the audience has no idea what just happened. #genius
Suddenly the audience saw and listen to some great musicians :)
Just fell on the floor at Jonah's 'crazy liiiiees riff. 😱😂. Stunning band. Xxx
Man, I get chills every time the chorus kicks in! This is pop fusion at its finest.
Wow... people should really calm down. I like to focus on the positives such as: Jonah's stunning vocal performance, the exceptional musicianship of the band (as always), a vibrant and engaging arrangement of this song and just overall an entertaining and fun performance!!! Come on people!!! For this kind of massive event they've probably had a whole team who decided all the live production elements of this performance anyway so give the band a break would you!!
I just hope that they can continue to grow and not become a part of the machine. By far some of the best musicians out there AND they are genuine. Love these guys. Got a chance to meet them in Dallas, TX and they were super nice to me and my kids.
Dirty Loops please dont Stop, I will lose my hope that good musik will be popular.
Loops, don't listen to anyone; fans, producers, or company executives. You are the artists, not them. So trust your gut and do what's right for you.
Welcome back real music
If the music business was a meritocracy, these guys would be kings of the world.
This live performance is fire, it’s incredible… 🔥🔥🔥
I'm an internationally published music journalist and semi-professional musician (bass guitar) and I can unequivocally say Dirty Loops is THE best band of the 21st century to date. So polished! Accessible yet incredible chops and showmanship. What a gift. I truly hope they "play" long and prosper.
+Robert Kaye Yet you bring terms like "THE best" into music? Well, that's just your oppinion dude ;-)
+1wayticket2 Of course.
+Robert Kaye You can't say that because a) we're less than a fifth of the way through the 21st century and b) other people might disagree. What about bands like Snarky Puppy?
+Owen Eastwood You're right on points A) and C); B) is irrelevant. I'd written taht comment upon first discovering and becoming totally enthralled with the DL. I still am. However, I just now amended my verbiage. I'm currently discovering SP and they're also very good. As a bassist, however, Henrik Linder reigns in that department.
Aaaaaaaand they broke up :(
Bloody amazing music in every respect. Drums, bass, keys, VOCALS - all KILLER.
Så jävla underbart. Minns de förvirrade försiktiga applåderna efteråt.
My comment is what, like 6-7 years late? LOL. Other than they are killer, his voice is unreal. Seriously, I mean unreal. It's perfect and unimaginably good. He has perfect pitch and a perfect voice! My only criticism is I can't get used to seeing them in an America's got Talent stage setting. That's EXACTLY what this looks like to me, or even the American Idol finals.
They would win the whole competition with this
Leo Westerberg They should do but they wouldn't, the Swedish audience hated it, read the description.
This band only keeps getting better and never stops amazing me. Keep it up guys!
Gino Vannelli!!! Am I the only one hearing that similarity? Amazing!!!
henrik's nails on point 💅
Touching my soul with REAL Music! So rare these days. XOXO you Dirty Loops!
we need a new album, guys. We also need you guys active in social media, please.
It won't happen, sadly. They ran into trouble with Verve when making the second record. They wanted to do one thing and Verve wanted something else and they clashed. They're on the road and will continue to do that but I doubt we'll get another record from them while they're on Verve.
Nostal Jack hey bud. Check the dirty loops Instagram!!!!!
@@Nostaljack Sad story, unfortunately... I really really hope that they will continue to play together and compose a whole new album pretty soon
:)
I've seen a lot of people say "you don't need the backing track" "i don't like the backing track" blah blah. I can speak as a musician, backing tracks aren't really a necessity & they don't take away anything from the band but they do add a LOT in a performance especially if your in a small group. We know these guys can kill it live but let's be real here, jonah can't play every sound we hear in those songs on his own with one keyboard live or even in the ever popular videos we've seen. Plus a performance like this they HAD to use a pretty stacked backing track. Tracks are a part of live music wether subtle or obvious.
Matt Chase You proofed that you know almost nothing about music business.
Be glad about the backing track. Others are using dozens of electronic manipulations.
jozef danyi Ok i you didn't fully understand what i was talking about so let me be clear. I liked the track, i didn't mind it at all cause i knew it was necessary given the kind of performance they were giving. & where did i show my lack of knowledge of the music business?? i didn't even mention music business in my comment
Matt Chase I have read your comment again and NOW i understand your comment.
Sorry for that.
+Mr. Chase Music Sure, but it'd be more optimal, more beautiful if they had real musicians / background singers filling in those empty spaces.
+Mr. Chase Music They have a live keyboardist. His name is Simon Petren
You Guys are so amazing, love the modern take on playing jazz/fusion. Remember music like this used to be something only muscians wanted to listen to, you made it mainsteam by taking famous pop songs and re-arrange them it's brilliant.
How talented they are.. the music (sophisticated), the show, the musicians, the voice of Jonah... we are high in the sky
HOLY SHIT THESE VOCALS
Perfectionizm in music ; & Live!. CONGS.... LOVES so Much :) ....
I've been addicted to this song since i saw this video. Tried buying it....cant buy it in America :'(. COME ON!!

They aren’t relevant enough unfortunately :(
YOU WANNA OPEN A PORTAL TO 69 DIMENTIONS?.... That sht is too much to handle man
One word: WOW!
I simply LOVE IT!!!! THXS THXS THXS GUYS! YOU ARE AMAZING!!
This is my Xmas gift!
I can't believe people in the comments....
"Oh no, we just saw our favorite band make a dope ass TV performance, got access to Jonah's facial expressions, got SEVENTEEN DANCERS ANOTHER REASON TO BE PAYED (Come on workers in art..really!?), and we definitely saw Dirty Loops learn something new about stage performance and perform "extremely" complex music in a TV show for streamlined pop music". Guess we can't approve them until they play bebop in a pitch dark room - preferably without an audience..."Real art"....*sigh*...
Wow best cover ever!!
This is amazing
This freaking amaaaaazing
The Swedes do everything musical OFF the Chart!! Bravo!!!
siempre con su estilo propio que gran trabajo hacen Dirty Loops algun dia los vere en concierto aca en Colombia jejejeje
So fantastic! Sound so amazing!!!Wow!!!. I’ve never been heard something like that))love you guys
just seen your live performance yesterday.you guys are amazing!
Wooooooooow! YOU ARE INCREDIBLE, THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST LIVE PERFOMANCES I HAVE EVER SEEN, THATS MUSIC MAN!!!🔥
while all these so called "fans" bash on this song and tear apart every benign detail, im a huge fan of you guys and this song. do what you need to position yourself with labels or whatever your end game is. I have faith in your judgement and sound. you guys are great!
The song is great, I'm still trying to find it to purchase.
teodouble1 Nicely said teodouble1. :)
It's a cover of the previous year's winner of that competition. I doubt it's available for purchase (haven't looked tho).
Damn... and he gets that same great snare sound live....
Amazing
Amazed, everytime.
That just blew my mind! Top Notch!
Amazing, I like so much your music. I hope to see more videos like this. I love your songs. The best for you from Dominican Republic
The most underrated band on earth.
Esses caras são muito bons!!!!
Love these incredible musicians so much!! And this piece, can’t help but suspect a hint of an homage to Vince Dicola and Rocky IV fans everywhere! With those bumblebeelious arpeggios! Can’t wait to hear what y’all do next! Every thing not just ear candy, but pure brain candy!!!
OMFG that melisma at 1:37 was lightning fast! He went from C#5 to E3 in a second! Freakin crazy
pra mim é a melhor banda de todos os tempos, nas suas performances ao vivo e as criações no estúdio. A pouca idade e tanta bagagem musical é incompreensível.
Holy shit! this is pure talent... its impossible to play and sing like that
This is so great. These guys made it! I'm inspired:)
Beauty is not for everybody. And it has been proved now...music doesn't relax all animals. Thanks so much
These guys could do ANYTHING and I'd eat it up like the tastiest ice-cream ever invented! They should be worshipped as the musical gods they are!
ustedes son lo mejor que hay
Awesome, have not heard such an interesting band for a long time.
Fantástico!
Extraordinary !!!!
this is so cool!
Epic!
bros, where are you? the world needs you!
Great show, great performance, great TV show production. You guys
have taken music to the highest peaks and I'm grateful for you.
All the best
Jamie Glaser ( guitarist with the Jon Anderson-Jean Luc Ponty band)
+Jamie Glaser I'm so glad to hear you say this, Jamie. I've been a die-hard Yes fan since 1968. I've seen Yes over a dozen times over the years. As a bassist, Chris Squire (RIP) has been one of my greatest influences. Glad to see a talented musician such as yourself, playing jazz/prog rock recognize this talented band. Spread the word! BTW: What does Jon Anderson think of Dirty Loops?
+Robert Kaye thanks Robert. They are the future ,,,and Ive been a fan since their first video out here. I wouldn't know what Jon thinks my friend... I just see him at soundcheck for 10 minutes and on stage for 2 hours or so. He spends his time on the road, with his wife and doesnt hang out usually. Love him though
Mr . Glaser , big fan from the Jean-Luc days , EO .Hope everything is well . Glad to see your still around . LOL
@@bergjohnson5273 yes sure am. Ponty was my favorite gig and its fun to know that people dont know I am the guitarist on seinfeld and 20 other TV shows as well as composer for super bowl, CBS sports, animal planet and super GRATEFUL for it all. I appreciate that you are/ were a fan of Jean Luc Ponty. Love him
appreciate the kind words. Jamie
There can never be too much slap bass :D
I am so looking forward to see you live at my home town in February ;)
Love it!!!
Very good, I'm a big fan of yours.
Here in Brazil, especially in Rio de Janeiro, you band Dirty Loops, has many fans. I hope one day the Brazilians and people of the city of Rio de Janeiro, will have the honor to watch them on a great show.
Perfect as always! Love the new cover soooo much; just as much as I love you guys! I am always left speechless. Would be awesome to buy those jackets...!
