Kenny, I hope this finds you doing great as of late!
You know I was listening to the live city Street concert in Chicago that you and Mellencamp did back in 1993 .
Man, that was awesome those were the days!
That song human wheels sure does describe what’s going on in the world today especially in Ukraine and Gaza.
How innovative that song has proven to be!
I love the work you do and you’re an awesome guy. I can tell just by watching you here on your channel. If I was gonna be born again, I would want to be you.
    You’re the man.

    What an AWESOME INTERVIEW!!
    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
You guys brought up a great memory I had buried deep in the old brain…
It was the mid-eighties, and I was outside of Chicago working at TANGLEWOOD studios. I was with my writing partner at the time, Andre Upchurch, the son of Chicago Jazz legend Phil Upchurch, and out of nowhere JIM PETERIK walks in! 🤩
I think we had the same reaction that Kevin did so many years before when Jim showed up at one of his gigs! Like, WOW!
We lost all track of what we were writing that afternoon and I’m sure that song never got finished…
But come on, it was Jim PETERIK! 🤩🤩
    We were star struck. 🤷‍♂️
Small studio there, but great stuff came out of it.
First room I learned how to work on Harrison consoles.
That Raven they had there was an amazing little beast!
Harrison consoles played a pretty big role in the sound of Chicago records in the 70’s and 80’s. I’m tickled that they are going to start making large consoles again.
Guys.. Thanks for doing this one!!
    🤘😎🤘

"A band is only as good as its drummer" I don't recall where I heard that first but it is so true. As a young drummer, when I realized this I knew that I would never be in a successful band. I always say I'm a "B" drummer but my grading scale is quite lenient. I'm not very good, but I do enjoy jamming with people when I get the chance.

Great interview Kenny. I learned more about KC in this interview than all others I've heard combined.
Let me share some REO magic....
Saw REO Speedwagon at Red rocks in 86 I believe.
During the show there was a pause and KC asked the audience to take off one shoe and hold it over their head.
He said they wanted a picture for their next album cover.
I told a friend the name of their next album would be called..."Put your best foot forward"...
Fast fwd within a year I walk into a record store in Mannheim Germany.
Finger through the albums until I come to the R's...
There it was, "Best foot forward, the best of REO Speedwagon"
Felt a rush of magic to be honest.
    Was kind of disappointed also.
The Red Rocks pic was on the back.
    Just a small pic.
I thought it would be a bigger pic on the front.

Another great guest. I was never an REO Speedwagon fan, nor did I like the tunes. As with so many American bands they simply were never my thing. However, I really like the Man. And that is one of the great things about your chats - you create such a relaxed and open atmosphere that enables your guests to simply be themselves. And that all happens so effortlessly. I can think of some major TV network personalities that would likely envy the ease of exchange that happens in these conversations.
Interesting to hear of the connections with Styx and also Jim Peterik, two successful yet critically underrated talents.
Also, Mr. Cronin reminds me of Yes vocalist Jon Anderson. There is something about the looks and the voice, and even the good-natured personality that sparks that thought.
    Thank you again.

Well nobody else will say it so I will…….Gary Richrath was the heart and soul of REO. When Gary left the band, the vast majority of REO nation left with him…..they turned into a tribute band and had no meaningful releases or commercial success after that.
For me personally, they lost me when they turned bubblegum with Hi Infidelity….prior to that, they could rock……after that, schwarmy ballads.

Funny that Kevin cracked a joke about being a porn star. Funny story - I will try to be brief. Years ago I was dating a pretty lady in Lexington KY. One of the things we had in common was our love of rock and going to live shows. She tells me a story from years prior when she went to see REO at Rupp Arena. She is out at the bar after the show and Kevin shows up, and in no time at all he is talking to her (with intentions of course). She is just excited to be talking to this rock star and then a dude walks up, and it was her BF. She introduces Kevin to her BF. Kevin's response... "This is your boyfriend? What the hell am I doing talking to you?" And he storms off 🤣
