One of my favorite things to put together at the end of each year. Some really solid reissues this year. That Herbie Hancock sounds phenomenal.

Big House of Love fan. You don’t understand was a phenomenal track I thought. ….. what a key change into the chorus 🎵

Love a lot of these! Especially excited about the 3 Lush albums. -- I feel it’s worth mentioning that Sinead O’Connor’s Universal Mother also reissued 2023. Really enjoy your channel. :)

Thank you! I did grab the Universal Mother reissue a couple weeks ago, but haven't had a chance to listen. Otherwise that one would've surely made the video. :)

I'm a big fan of each and every album you showed. I have them all in CD form, but I certainly need to pick up the Brendan Perry reissue, since I didn't know there was live material added. I too saw Lush in 92. Weezer opened up the show. Happy to see these Lush reissues.

Great to hear, Stephen! It was an incredible year for reissues, hopefully introducing these albums to people that missed them the first time around. I saw Lush at the second LollaP fest - they played first, right before Pearl Jam. Thanks for watching!

Happy new year Bret! 2023 was indeed a great year for some long awaited gems. House of love’s releases were worth the money spent. I got ceremony by the cult after watching your earlier video. Also the cure Show RSD release was one of my favourites along with the first 3 Curve EPs Blindfold, Cherry and frozen. Of course I cannot go without recommending lush’s reissued vinyls. All 3 albums are killer. Hoping for an amazing 2024. Awesome Mazzy Star T shirt too. You can probably do a video just on your original concert t shirt collection 😊. Stay well!

Happy New Year, Yas! Sounds like you picked up some gems. It would've been cool if MOV had compiled all of those Curve EPs into a single release. I didn't end up grabbing them because of the overall cost, but great to hear you got them all. Good eye on the Mazzy Star shirt! :)

That Art Pepper is deadly cool. Scooped a blue note re-issue of that and a bunch others in like '98 or so. Read his bio 'Straight Life' around that time. That Grant Green I gotta cheak. I surpisingly have never heard of him. Peace out .H.N.Y!

Right on. Definitely check out some Grant Green. Idle Moments, Born to Be Blue and Nigeria are a few other albums of his I would recommend as well. Thanks for watching. Happy New Year!

I appreciate your jazz picks. Please consider educating us more on that era. You pick up any of the bad brains reissues?

Thanks James! I will endeavor to show more jazz records in the future. Glad you enjoyed seeing them. I did grab a couple of Bad Brains reissues, but I think it was back in 2022. Which ones did you grab?

@@BretHelmsLifeOnThisPlanetBlog 2023 brought rock for light but also brought Lee Morgan the side winder. I am going to grab that grant green vinyl. Blue Note reissue have been pretty consistent sound wise. I’m torn on the punk side. I don’t want the scratches on my vinyl but I don’t want all the extra noise taken off the punk albums. There’s some character in that. I want to hear if they were a little sloppy that day.

I had only ever owned the Bad Brains debut on cassette, so it was nice to finally pick up the vinyl reissue. It looks like that one came out back 2021, along with Rock for Light. I'm overdue for a spin of both, so thanks for mentioning. :)
