Thanks! I've had more trouble with audio over the years than any other aspect of video production. I've put a lot of money recently into audio equipment . . . the mic I recorded these episodes with is actually an early father's day gift from my son as well. And still it's not perfect. Dog barking in the background, some traffic noise. So it's something I definitely am working on.

I loved playing Finlandia and ended up using that piece's composer's name as the name for my cat . . . and then when my cat died, I took on the cat's name as my online handle. How's that for a strange process to come up with an online name! LOL

Think about the shape of a rectangle. It can be almost like a square, or it can be long and flat. Both rectangles, but completely different shapes, right? So, let's translate that to video clips. Most modern video cameras shoot at 16x9 aspect ratio . . . meaning, for every 16 pixels across, they are 9 pixels tall. So a 4K video clip is 3840 x 2160. But let's say you wanted to fit your 16x9 video clip that wasn't 16x9 . . . maybe it is more like a square. Maybe it's 16x12. So it's a different shape of a rectangle. Using just PIP, you can't make the 16x9 video clip fit the 16x12 rectangle - they're just not the same shape. You can't re-shape the 16x9 clip at all - the only thing you can really do is resize it. The mask allows you to reshape that 16x9 clip. You can essentially crop off some of the sides so it's 16x12, closer to a square. Or, you can crop it to a circle or a heart shape or any shape you want. PIP let's you resize the image while maintaining its original shape. Mask allows you to re-shape the image. When you put them together, you can resize an image and make it fit into any shape you want. Does that make sense?
Hello Jeff! I have been using PD for some time but still, need to learn much more. I own the Air2S and a Nikon Z6ii . I have been thinking of purchasing Cyberlink Color Director for editing my videos and grading. My question is whether I can get by with just PD or will color director give me much more?
Hi Peter - that's a tricky question . . . I fly the Air 2S and I don't use CD on it. But then, I don't really color grade. My tweaks are usually just bumping up the contrast some to pull a little more color out of it. However, if you want to get into grading or you're trying to match colors on video from two different cameras, CD is the way to go. It has a lot more capabilities than the image editing functions in PD. I just upgraded my PD365 to Director Suite 365 so I can get more into Color Director specifically. If you follow the link in this video's description and navigate to Color Director, you can download a free trial version of it. That's probably your best bet - try it out to see if you like it, for free.
