People would ask more than 9000€ in Finland for looks alone. Crazy how cheap it is over there

Depends on the market. Compare the number of registrations in Finland with the UK and I think it will be at least a tenfold. More cars on the market (new and used) means cheap(er) prices. The UK loves Audi and BMW'S and therefor the market has plenty of those in all forms and shapes.
I like the colour especially on this one but the UK is also known to have top spec cars come in the colour red where other markets (including here in the Netherlands) will always prefer black/silver/blue.
I had a check and 560.000+ 3 series were sold in 2003 in the UK.
I cannot find the correct data from 2003 in Finland but from 2011 onwards roughly 5000 units have been sold every year in Finland but it seems to me by looking at these numbers the market in the UK is about 100x bigger, hence the ''cheap'' prices.

@@Juhnaaa the numbers might not all be correct and I am re-checking them. I think my first guess was better with a tenfold to the sales in Finland. More reliable figures show a total of new registered BMW's of 500.000 in 2003 and my guess is back then 2/3 of sales were at least a 3 series in any shape or form, so 330.000 at least? Back then there were not so many different models like nowadays and the total of 500k was 10% of total car sales in the uk (5.2 million) those numbers ARE correct. 2003 was a good year for BMW in the UK.

@@AJCars. beautyful e46 u got there btw. Here in germany, manual Coupés 325/328/330 are atleast 8k € and then they are pretty shait.10-12k for an ok one. Id like to own one but that kinda doesnt seem Worth it. I mean i can get a 335i e92/93 manual for that money. Car prices in the uk make so much more sense conpared to here.

@@AJCars. i dont know what he is talking about... i bought my E46 with 130.000km in a really nice Condition (no rust, no big things to repair) for just 3K :D, Now i own it for 2 years and im getting closer to the Build i want. And no it wasnt a price for a friend... It is possible, IN germany!

Now ive see your whole build. It's crazy how similar our builds are. I also have a single exit exhaust... tho i went for a HKS option. Im also in the middle of an M3/Msport conversion (finaly managed to find some skirts and your right there like gold dust) which will allow me to instal a Pandem/Rocket Bunny kit.
Unfortunately tho i havnt seen it for 9 weeks as its been getting an engine rebuild aswell as a custom tune 😉
Still havnt seen another one in our colour so im starting to think were the last ones of the kind lol.

what's the full sizes of them? 17's, 18's, what's the width, 7's, 8's, 9's, are they square setup or staggered?

19” 9.5j front and 10.5j rear, staggered setup! Et 35
M sport side skirts are a luxury, they came on nearly every 330i and some 325i as well as of course m3 and the coupes and sedans side skirts are identical, you just have to move (drill a hole) one hole underneath

Looks great, way better than some newer stuff. Love the more unusual colour and even the chrome window surrounds suit it. And this comes from an e46 m3 owner.

Awesome car Alex. I have a sapphire black e46 coupe myself and love it. If I could make 1 suggestion. I think you should black out the exterior window trim from the chrome. I think it would look better. From factory they call it the shadow line package.

Having also worked at a body shop but in the US my jaw dropped when I saw how cheap the painting was done for, talk about more like $3000 for all of that lmfao, but still good break down, shows you don’t always need the most expensive stuff. Also people in the comments are talking about resale value verse how much you put in, to car enthusiasts honestly a lot of the time that doesn’t matter, because it’s your baby and you want it to be nice for you

Pretty sure that's an SE steering wheel as M Sport wheels don't have that split in the bottom spoke it's a solid piece on the M Sport.
I think you’re right, m sport has a solid block at the bottom without the gap i got it wrong

that bumper is Sedan bumper, that's why the curves dont align under the indicators, and I facepalm everytime.I see one on the street.
Get yourself fiberglas "m3 copy" they can be had for 300.

Think about blacking out the chrome, makes a huge difference,
Also if people are looking for side skirts M3 ones fit straight on and look the best for a 46

Immaculate built mate, love it and looking forward to build mine the same way. Just a thing, if the front grill is black, why not to paint the window trims black also? Or to keep the grill corme?
@@bkrius I like the black grilles to be fair and yeah the chrome trims I liked chrome because they matched the wheels nicely, I could have kept the front chrome it would have looked good!

@@perfectox well apparently I’ve been told that this bumper is for a sedan and isn’t even supposed to fit, although it does, I don’t know the exact seller but it was an eBay seller! They all work off a very similar mould so you should be good with Fitment on any that you buy!

Great build! What form of alcantara did you use for the interior? Simple wrap or straight fabric + stitching?
Fabric and stitching, i just used spray glue to help it sit on the panel well👍🏻
4.310£ for the whole build is not bad at all, average price of a 330d e9x

What's the maintenance cost like on a car like this?
@@Ali-kq7yv not the best😅 if it’s a knacker then it’ll be pretty high, a nice kept low mileage one will be about average to a newer car

@alex - would you recommend a novice (no experience in cars) to buy a classic BMW car say like an 1980s e28 (5 series)? Could you advise?
@@Darkknight21789 difficult to say without seeing the car, a lot of old cars like that are rotten and are close to undrivable however if you got a really nice one for a collectors item I’d say yes as they would probably hold good value in the future
If ur not interested on working on cars and u js want to drive a nice car, i wouldnt recommend you a bmw. As they do come with many engine problems. Hope this helps😊

@@1998goodboy normal driving isn’t that bad you don’t really feel a difference besides it feeling a little more rigid, it’s more tight corners and parking you feel it jumping and scatting about a bit, overall not actually too bad

@ yeah for sure, because it skips a bit round tight corners you lose traction pretty quickly, you just need to take it slow and not get over confident in the rain and you’ll be fine🤣

Hey so about the market. How’s the market right now? At least in the UK? I don’t really know how to tell if the prices are going up or down cuz I have only been recently looking at them in eBay. EU btw

@@AJCars. It's rare for me to see a modified e46 and like but yours yeah mate, definitely suits it,the colour,rims, splitter,all of it's works for me! That green with chrome trim around windows is a great combo. I have same car but topaz blue with black mirror trim

It’s a 323ci SE it has 108000 on the clock sits at about 170bhp and I don’t know the owners

Really depends on the model and engine you buy mate, most of them are pretty reliable if you keep up with servicing

@@Ryan____Z yes mate it’s on adjustable coilovers, if you’re going 19s I’d say they’re the best option as fitment can be difficult with 19s

my e46 cost me £2100 and im now an extra 8k deep in mods 😂😂🥲, i think you under valued the cost of labour in some places but all round for +2500 in work that 46 looks great 👍

Honestly, these kind of videos are disservice to young car enthusiast because it gives a false feeling of being able to do these project for cheap and have a cool car. What ends up happening is people who can barely afford the car and basic maintenance will end up with a pile of junk that will never be fully restore or mechanically sound. The estimate isn't anywhere close to what it would cost someone who doesn't work at a body shop. Please give us a estimate of the cost to all the bodywork, paint, etc. at your shop. My guess? You're looking at additional £3000-£5000, maybe more. Restoring cheap car that has body damaged (or a car that needs repaint) isn't really worth it in most cases because at the end of the day, you've spent WAY more than what the car is worth. It would be better to save up and find a better condition car for more money. Maybe if it's a classic (barn find) or something you REALLY want, otherwise, it won't be worth doing. Unless you're a RUclipsr and RUclips ad revenue is covering all the cost.
I think i was pretty accurate with the costs for repairs and paint from a body shop (for my area) and it is a pretty accurate run down of how much it will cost to get it to a position I have it in, i do not put the full labour cost at the end but i do explain it throughout the video so you can gauge an idea of what it will cost you, some people may not agree but the prices are what they are unfortunately

@@andysdiy5041 they’re et35 I’m pretty sure, I don’t rub on the front and I cut the rear arches so it’s slimmer so I only catch going quickly over bumps sometimes
