The Philippines should look for a mining partnership where value-added processes are more pronounced to achieve a more favorable trade balance just like Indonesia. We must only partner with the best global players where the company ethos is strong in maintaining environment sustainability and promoting social responsibility. Resources are finite. Good planning, by making sure the communities during and after the mining extraction are not left empty-handed, should be instituted by long-term thinking.

Do not allow mining in the Philippines just excavate and export mineral products in raw state. Relax the regulations on mining investors but but the mining products should be processed in the country first to generate employment, into preliminary processed raw materials to be exported for final process abroad. For example, copper raw materials should be refined first here into almost pure copper before exported abroad. Otherwise, if mining business is allowed just to excavate and mine our mountains and ship abroad, that is exploitation. It applies to other minerals and raw materials.
