Best version of this song. Also at the end, you realize either Sharon is drunk or stoned, and she sang the whole thing with no false note or anything. Magic.

It's 2019 and I've only just discovered Sharon Van Etten. And she blows my mind. And I'm going to see her in 2 weeks. I can't wait.
omg! too bad she doesn't play some of these songs anymore because of the overwhelming emotional baggage. still, I caught her in Denver this year (for the 4th time since 2011) and she was excellent. As another idea, also check out Torres (Mackenzie Scott)--especially her first two albums; there is a psychic connection between their songwriting I am convinced!
@@alquinn8576 Yes, I know she's far happier now and can understand why she doesn't want to play some of the old songs anymore. God knows I'd never deny her happiness in place of her art. But stuff like "Don't Do It" is so utterly beautiful that you just have to let it go and accept you're not playing it for yourself anymore. All I know is I haven't connected with a musician like this in years.

She opened for The National here in SLC this last summer. She fucking rocks. It was a memorable occasion sitting on the grass in the park with my girl sipping a beer.

I was doing a small art show out of my apartment.At the time I was making experimental noise with laptops and synths.and she was like.rico thats a waste of time."I want to make people cry with my music"Later I left the country and started playing guitar again and lost interest in the williamsburg hipster scene but her advice was good.the traditional instruments are better because they are rooted in human tradition
