    i think the dynamic between the daycare lady and her husband is much more healthy than it’s made out to be. i believe the woman truly loves caring for Pokémon, and the husband wants to find his own hobbies besides constantly crowding her space, since they’re both old enough to be retired.

    I feel like Mr. Hyper's got an interesting dynamic within the Cerulean City community. In my eyes, he works in the daycare facility alongside his wife, but also provides an educational service on the side that people under the age of 18 can benefit from using an easily accessible form of alternative currency, simultaneously promoting participation and even stimulation within the economy, encouraging the removal of recyclable litter, and furthering his own hobbies/interests. Who knows, maybe he's in business with some local beverage manufacturer, receiving a nice little commission for beverages sold within Cerulean City limits; a living advertisement, if you will. Either way, sounds like he's turning some sort of profit.

Who enforces these battle rules and how the amount is determined are unclear. Also, other trainers (many of whom are actually not kids) do not appear to black out, this seems to be unique to the player character. Perhaps he/she simply does not handle losing/party wipes well.

      @SilverDragonJay Год назад +11

      This is the second place it comes up in my life, as an "enumeration" is also a variable type used in computer science to correlate numbers to readable words. IE:
      enum v = {red, green, blue};
      In that case, those words can be used as if they were numbers, where red = 0, green = 1, and so on. The most common usage for this is just to make things easier to read, because 'blue' can tell you a lot more about what's going on then just '2' even if these things mean the same thing to the computer. And yes, this does mean that you can do things like "red + 1" and it will produce 'green'
      just some fun knowledge in case anyone cares.

      just don't think about what he says too much. Any normal person will find a lot of things wrong with what he says....employment means someone else is paying you, so no one pays the gym leaders. The Gym leaders own the gym themselves. And again, no one pays them. No one pays to get in or to challenge them.
      Only one who makes money is the markets. And we can't even prove they make money. How much is a pokeball whole sale and how can I get that? I have max money I should be able to buy bulk from some one else. So they must make their own pokeball, or be part of the company that does. And that leaves Team Rocket and farmers markets who make money.
      But then he also says player characters mom in pokemon red/blue/yellow is unemployed, but if you look that up, she owns and runs Pallet towns ONLY restaurant so shes employed...so WHAT ELSE IS HE WRONG ABOUT....

    Cerulean City is so far the most economically diverse and culturally rich city yet still has amongst the highest unemployment rate so far and is affecting a particular group of individuals more than other citizens. As well, much of the city's industry is heavily based on encouraging tourism between Misty's gym having an audience unlike Brock's, Bill's collection being a world renowned exhibit, and the bike maniac encouraging longer distance travel given Kanto's overall lack of public transportation. These are all indicators of gentrification likely brought on by the establishment of either Misty's gym and/or Bill's lab which brought in new business such as the daycare but created a decline in employment among the former locals.

      anarchism of some form is well supported by the lack of police response seen when team rocket openly engages in criminal conspiracies involving large gatherings of members and coercion of civilians, as seen at goldenrod city's radio tower in particular. security guards are known to operate near goldenrod city, outside of city limits, but they may be a local volunteer force akin to a neighborhood watch or militia
      the takeover of the goldenrod city radio tower in particular would've been especially noticeable across the region. that lance, a Kanto native, did not intervene suggests that even the league itself may operate this way: B and C may be the same possibility

    The manga places the Gym Leaders (or at least the Elite Four) as the governmental authorities, so I usually go off of that (I also include Johto, Sevii, and Orange, along with Kanto, as the larger Indigo government, as they have a single Elite Four, and also the “Pokémon War” theory about the demographics of G1 and G2)

    • @anlev11

      And also Bruno got his elite four position thanks to his connections, since he is too weak to be an elite four member.

    The guards around Saffron City should be attributed to there and the clearly employed guard by Cerulean Cave should be counted. I also feel the people on route 10 should be counted for Cerulean since Rock Tunnel is a barrier to easy commuting. The power plant workers from GSC and HGSS would count if they existed in this game along with the people at the Pokémon Center out there.

    Love these videos, The Kanto cities are quite interesting for economic analysis as there also information about how they are doing 2-3 years in the future in the Gold & Silver games. Most notably Lavender town will convert its Pokemon Town from a Mausoleum to a Radio Tower.

    • @BierBart12
      @BierBart12 Год назад +10

      The Pokemon Tower development is pretty interesting in general. The renovation was funded by Giovanni to function as a testing ground for mass-produced Silph Scopes, but once Rocket was disbanded, local radio technicians probably took over the half-finished Rocket base when it was determined that demolishing it could have horrible consequences due to the resident spirits.

    “Anarcho-Capitalist Dictatorship” is not something I would ever expect to hear in a labor survey 😂. In all honesty though there never seems to be any sort of governance in Pokémon, with the closest thing being the local gym leaders. It could very well be that the Kanto region is governed by the Pokémon League itself, since Pokémon battling seems to be the main focus of the region. Every gym leader is like their own warlord who gains power by being the strongest, most influential Pokémon battler in the region, only adhering to the rules of the league, tied together in a sort of bizarre confederation. It’s hard to guess what role the elite 4 play, whether or not they dictate policy or that being left up to some other league entity. What is clear is that this line of thinking completely reframes the way Pokémon is looked at. It’s not just a sport, but the pathway to power in the Pokémon world, and the player is working his way up the hierarchy, which is an underly hilarious take for a children’s game.

  • @criixt
    @criixt Год назад +6

    Those trainers north of Cerulean city are there because they too heard about Bill's secret garden. Those diving platforms in the gym look unsafe, seeing how shallow the water is. I think you might want to get a building/fire department inspector involved. Also there's no safety railing to enter and exit the pool.

    All Pokémon gyms are said to be in affiliation with the region-wide Pokémon League, and seeing as intercity problems are often shuffled to the Pokémon League champion to solve, and local instances of public welfare are the responsibility of local gym leaders to manage, it’s my professional opinion that the Pokémon League IS the regional government. Ergo, gyms are most likely subsidized entirely with taxes. Perhaps property tax, which suggests why only towns above a certain geographical area size have a Pokémon gym in operation.

    In GSC Misty goes up past nugget bridge while on a date implying people from town still might go up there often enough. In fact since those games take place two years after you could argue hgss might be better to use? Idk when let's go takes place if it's even connected to the main timeline so...

    • @BonaparteBardithion

      Let's Go is in a near identical parallel timeline. Red and Blue have been aged up and replaced, but everything else is the same. I suspect Red and Blue would still end up in the same places they do in the main canon during HGSS. So, I'd say they're close enough to compare.

    I would count the guard as part of Saffron City, since he along with his three other crewmates guard each cardinal direction to and from Saffron City until you give them a drink. Not very good behavior from an employed persons but he still is the guard to Saffron city. Also, if you somehow glitch your way inside of Saffron City before giving the guards their drink, you can leave the city, but not go back in- showing that he guards Saffron, and not Cerulean.
