In this video I'm going to show you 10 snowboard tricks you can learn on a beginner box in the terrain park. A beginner box is a great place to learn some basic snowboard tricks and some more advanced ones too. A great way to learn the trick is to spend a few hours hiking a box and see how many snowboard tricks you can tick off your list. The first trick to try is the 5050, because you can get comfortable with the box and get your balance down. Then you can try front and back board slides. The snowboard tricks are fun to learn and you can also do them so you ride out switch. Next learn nose and tail presses. These tricks will challenge you to move your weight over the nose and tail of your snowboard. Finally try some more difficult tricks like a 180 on and off the box, or a spin on the box. For more info and tips on all these tricks check out the full snowboarding tricks playlist!

Today I just landed my first proper 360 on a small jump outside the park thanks to your help! You have really boosted the speed of my progression and I've learned tons of new tricks and tips from this channel over the past 2 years, thank you so much!
Bonus box trick: Try holding a GoPro and film your tricks while you're doing them. Haha!
You're the friggin' man, man! I'm looking so much foward to this season - i'm going to Avoriaz in the alps. I've been snowboarding for like 8-9 years, and doing tricks is how i have fun.. My only problem is committing to tricks.. I really wanna learn, but i still haven't done a "real" 360 or a "real" rail.. I have problems committing to the tricks :-) well keep it up man!
+SnowboardProCamp what pole are you using (store-bought or homemade too)?
Kevin can you tell me at what angle should I hold the go pro stick for it to see all my body and the board
+Steve Durnian its called a gopole u can get them from most places that sell gopro's
+Steve Durnian its called a gopole u can get them from most places that sell gopro's
A few weeks ago I did a box spin .thanks for your help. I love your videos
yeah if our snowpark had more than one box that would be one step forward to mastering boxes
+Quacky Quackingtons One is more that none!
Queck my hill has no terrain features
spirit mt has like 10 lmao
I feel that
My park has like two 5 feet jumps
the selfie stick helped with getting a better view of ehat you're doing and how you do it. Keep using it especially for tutorials
+Yahoo User Thanks! Yeah, it's been fun trying to film stuff with the selfie stick. It's more challenging, but it gets the camera super close to what I want filmed.
Man, I love your videos so much! I just started last year and I can already grind rails, do 180s, and ride switch! Thank you so much for making my first season so much better! I can't wait until next season!
You guys are great. Was needing goggle advice and you came through I'm in my second season and working on your beginners trick list. Thanks
You should get your own personal snowboard school going with just yourself or yourself plus one to four others. You are really good.
Really awesome video man, very helpful for building confidence on boxes (and then eventually rails)
I love the footage with the gopro on the pole! Its great and we can see exactly what you are doing very closely. It gets your tutorials even better!
I love watching your videos! Just starting out but these videos are such good motivation to push myself! :)
Spinning on the box, my best spin was a 720, it's so fun to mess around on boxes, frontside 270 on to front board is a good trick to practice too.
Wow! Great video Kevin! Keep up the great work!
Thanks Kevin, Hello from New Zealand. This video is helping as I'm trying to do tricks on the box at Snowplanet, New Zealand
dude you're awesome. keep it up. im going for some snowboarding in february. definetly gonna try your tips.
Great Video! Looking forward to trying some of these out
I know the struggle with the selfie stick! Real helpful video by the way! Helps me set my goals!
love your videos! keep up the goodwork!
love these vids keep it up man!
Thanks for the video Kevin!
Thanks, awesome tips
love ur videos, great stuff
Just a suggestion, it would be great if you could make a tutorial on riding a hand rail and some tricks to do on them. I'm not sure if I want to go in 50-50, or backside board slide. I don't know which one would be easier. Thanks Kev, keep posting awesome videos like this one!
Great video! Really helps me to become better 👍
Man your video tutorials are so sick! I watched every single one and I feel I'm progressing with another new video! I made my first 360 with your brilliant tips 2 years ago and now I am far away with other tricks. Still I must train my box tricks because i suck in this sh*t :D
Dude thx for the vid. I’ve been going at it all wrong and attempting a fakie boardslide on a rail before a back boardslide on a box
This was a fantastic video, totally going to be a must try next time I'm at the mountain. Damn... Now I'm itching to go..!
Great video! really helpful! :)
Hi Kevin, I looked through your videos and couldn't seem to find one where you talk about different styles of boxes. Could you please make one about this? Thanks!
grate video kev!! Keep the tricks coming!!
+Cam Dean I think January will be trick month!
awesome video❤️
Great Vid!
You are such a smooth rider ;)
Can you make a (10 snowboard tricks to learn on rails)
connor chisnell just do these tricks but on a rail
It’s awesome that 3 years ago I was watching a vid and u were teaching me basics, now I’m here watching how to ride a box. So cool, love ur vids
gonna try that out soon cool bro!
Love vid
Thanks for teaching me could you do more on rails
very helpful. what is the best way to avoid hurting yourself when you try these tricks. thanks!
Nice video! I like your channel !!! :)
Hey Kev, I'm doing quite well with tail presses and my regular riding , but I'm having some trouble getting into a nose press and holding It while going down the slope , I can do it fine on flat ground , but once I'm moving I can't seem to hold it think you could give any tips? Or make a vid? And also any tips on switch riding? Thanks! Keep up the great work!
+snowboardprocamp : Kev, loving your work dude, its a massive help to my improvement having your tutorials! Cheers Bud! I ride an all rounder - Lib Tech's Skate Banana BTX- live in UK and been mountain riding in the Alps for 1 week [sometimes two] a year for six years now (skier 11 years before that) so still in learning stages of jumps etc. your rides looks to have more flexi than my skate? Will this effect certain types of tricks/ jumps i.e. buttering?
i can't find boxes in my local mountain its like they hide them for you its all either advanced or super begginer stuff
I'm a year late, but if you're in the northeast, Killington has really good progression when it comes to boxes and rails.
Hey kevin i'm having trouble with any trick where im facing backwards, for example a front boardslide or a backside 180, any tips? Thanks 😉
I looooove this video!!! I wish I could give more likes then just one ;) keep up the siiiick work!
+Willem Van Zadelhoff Thanks Willem!
+snowboardprocamp what angles do you use?
Cool, I will try all of them. ;)
Could you please make a tutorial on tame dogs or front flips
How do I know when it is time to get a new board and new bindings?
I always think that when I do boardslides if I lean just a little to far forwards for backsides or lean backwards for frontsides that my edge easily, do you catch your edge often causing you to slam often? or is it hard to do that
trying to learn how to do ollie on rails... any tips?
I'm good at reg ride on ones and have started to even ollie off it but the thought going from edge to edge is hard... would love some feedback!
Great video Kevin!
Did you ever try the tripod to switch tripod? (If that makes sense???)
what is your best advice for stopping the rotation?
i just recently had my edges sharpened and now i want to try box tricks like board slides and stuff like that but will it affect me?
how long does it usually take to get from the top of whisler to the bottom snowboarding
im kinda new to snowboarding and im wondering if you should keep your edge up at all times when on a box or rail. can you catch an edge on a box or a rail? its a bit of a dumb question i dont know the answer to.
Try to keep board flat as its already slippery on the box..enjoy
A bit scared to do boxes because last year I hit one leaned forward and drilled my shins on the edge. They got bruised for a month in a half
I think it would be a great advice to keep your balance center completly over your board. When i see someone who tries boardslides for the first time he leans a bit back which makes him lose his balance
All your tricks that you are showing on your account are nice, but how to learn it, if you went one time in a year on holiday in an country with snow like me?
It's getting close to the end of the season and my board is not sliding well on boxing and I injured myself the other day could this be because of needing wax and/or not enough speed? Thanks
How do you get that angle with your GoPro pole?
Hi man! I have a question. How often do you go snowboarding? ;)
would all these tricks apply to a rail to?
Kev keep growing out that beard dude👌🏽
+The Snow Zone haha! thanks man! It's getting itchy!
+SnowboardProCamp Yo I think what you are doing is great and I'm not demanding but if you have a little bit of time check out my training videos and tell me what you think, oh and great video man you're the best 👌🏽🏂
cool thats help me
What is good hard goggle case?
For the back board slide do you ollie before or can you just ride on and twist? Also do you have any tips for not catching your edge while on the box? Love the videos, keep up the great work!
you don't have to jump on the box, but i would recomend it as a practise for rails and tubes.
bend your knees to keep the balance, and make sure you don't lean into the 90 degree rotation, if you jump
What kind of mount is he filming with?
where is that box on whistler? went to the big easy terrain Park on blackcomb today on my first day around here, expecting that type of box, yet nothing was set there. :(
I need to travel to another mountain soon, the resort closest to me doesn't have a terrain park ):
What editing program do you use?
Could anyone please tell me what's the name of his bindings? Thanks.
Are any of the tricks different (aka front Boardslide) if you ride regular instead of goofy stance?
They're the same regardless of stance
Do I have to learn switch before all of these
dont have to but it helps a lot
Hi could you please make a video on how to get on/off every kinds of lift? You already made in but it's quite old :(. Thanks!
+Drazen Chronicle Yeah! Thanks for the request!
just started to try box tricks today
+Andrew Chapman Awesome! How did it go?
+SnowboardProCamp actually not that bad, hit my knee off the box though
SnowboardProCamp how do I do different styles of boxes
Hey there, I was wondering were I should look while I'm riding on the box? PS thank you so much I love your videos!
try to look at the end of the box, it really helps me to get balance when i approach, same thing while you do front-& backboard
+Bucher Frederic yeah i do the same, look where you want to go, not where you don't want to.
+Bucher Frederic okay thanks! I'll try that next time!
R those spy platoon goggles because that's what I have and they're nice
Which park is this? Blackcomb side?
any tips for riding switch?
You should have a lot of practise before doing it on boxes, then start with 180 on, after you get that, just go for it and make sure you don't lean on your edges
One question which is pretty unanswered all the time has to do with the approach: I allways see ppl jumping a lil bit before hitting the Box, is that to Level out the Board and is it better like that?
+SupersternNo1 it depends on the box. Some boxes you have to do a small pop to get onto it. The box in this video you can just ride on flat based.
Should you be popping or ollie-ing to get the height to get on the box or rail?
Stephen Cao you're supposed to Ollie onto features
honestly it really depends on the box. pick a low, wide, not too long, not too short box and you'll be having a real good tiem :)
were is this?
where do you snowboard
hey, I´m practicing board slides by training with a balance board (skateboard deck and large water bottle). Twisting my body while rolling back and forth and trying to reach with my backhand to my front heel and opposite. will this in anyway help me? I feel like i am getting a better balance.
+Sunwakka It will definitely help! I've also got a full video series on off snow training if you want to check that out.
SnowboardProCamp I surely will :)
"Twist your body so your board is completely sideways on the box"
*Proceeds to zeach the shit out of it*
I tried a backside boardslide but i couldnt twist my board in time. Any tips?
Try starting with a 50/50 and Twisting into the Backboard as you slide down the box. It helps if you open up your shoulders a little bit Riding in
kevin, if i want to hit a box 180 or a normal 180, do i have to start with my good side and end with my bad side, or start with the bad side and end with the good side?
It would be awesome if you respond!
Thanks!
+Prydator Great question! Personally I would start with the 180 you're more comfortable with. Then you're setup up solid on the box to start.
Thanks! So i have to start with my good side?
What i mean is, do i have to land on my bad or good side?
Can you do another rail vid
Yes but a vid like this but with tricks on the rail
bill just do the same teicks but on the rail...
what casi snowboard instructor level are you
What pole is that
do you keep the padding in your helmet when you're wearing a beanie underneath or you take it out?
+Mark I take mine out, but I also have a really big head, so even though I have an xl helmet the padding wont fit with my beanie.
WHAT'S IN THE BOX????
Boola Frosted flakes are frosted flakes but the mystery box could be anything! IT could even be frosted flakes! You know how much we've wanted one of those! We'll take the box.
@@Monkeybearr tf
Kevin, I went up to my local mountain (big white) and I was able to make it down the mountain but if I tried to flatten out onto my board I would always catch my toe edge, any tips? Heel edge isn't really a problems just toe!
never ride flat on your board, always stay on your toe or heel edge.
Yo dude my mountain is big white!
I know your a switch rider. But which way did you learn goofy or regular?
Do you do youtube fulltime
+Jarno Simon Full time for some of the winter. I'm trying to build my patreon campaign up so I can make a living from youtube year round.
Where is this???
Hey man. What size board do you ride. I'm the same height as you and I'm always unsure of the right board length and width for me. I ride almost only park if that helps.
Thanks
+Andrew Cravedi lip to nose height
+Andrew Cravedi for park i would get bottom of the chin, but make sure it fits your weight range on the snowboard.
Nicholas Parodi im 5,8 and i run a 153 dc ply, i can 270 of rails easy and 540 on larger jumps. To each is their own.
Whenever I try back board slides I catch a edge and fall any help?
Try leaning forward but not too much it will help you from falling backwards and keep weight in middle of board
what size board do you ride on? i ride a 162 and i feel like its hindering my park ability but i cant afford a new board anytime soon
+Ljubo Mauzer I'm riding a 159. Park is definitely easier with a shorter board!
SnowboardProCamp - I'm on a 155.
