May life continue to treat you kindly coolduder.

Things went down hill in 96...91 compared to 98 felt like living on a completely different planet. The music and fashion alone changed drastically. 87- 93 would be the sweet spot for me.

For me, the last good year was in 1997. But, it wasn't until the year 2000 that I really began to hate just about everything. In fact, I had my first real anxiety attack about the future on the night of December 31, 1999. While I was at a New Year's Eve party with my family, everyone else was celebrating the coming of the new year, decade, century, and even millennium. In contrast, I felt "ill" and had to lie down on the couch that night. I didn't know it then, but what I believe is that I had a terrible premonition about the future. I was scared about what was coming, even though I had no idea just how much worse my life and most things would get back then. I was one of those kids back in the 1980s and 1990s who also thought everything would last forever, as you mentioned in this video. I was also one of those kids who couldn't wait to grow up and be an adult. I thought that my life would get better once I reached adulthood. I could not have been *MORE WRONG!!* It didn't happen right away, but things soon became worse. I'm 44 years old (as of March 3rd, 2023), and I keep wishing to go back to when I was still in the single digits. I can't decide exactly which year in the 1980s I want to go back to. I keep changing my mind, but the range of years I've mentioned in my wishlist is between 1985 and 1988. As for the things I miss about the 1980s...I can't even begin to list them. My list of things that I miss and keep wishing to go back to (if I could remember everything I miss) would stretch this comment to the size of Yankee Stadium if that tells you anything! I want to go back. I hate the modern world. Everything has gone from bad to worse. The only thing I like about today is what's left of my family...and there isn't much left of them. 😭
I just read this comment 9 months later and I had the same feeling of illness at the start of the millennium. I relate to that so much. Somehow we knew that things wouldn’t ever be the same. And we were right. 2000 already felt quite different from 1999, but we had no idea how worse it would get. We have to make the best out of it, but sometimes I wonder why we let it all go down the drain.
Coolduder...I love you because you are like a guy from the 80s. You love the movies and all the great stuff that came with it. You remind me of the 80s so god dammed much. I only just realised this and I realise so this is why I watch all your videos.
I really agree with u guys, current shit suck!!!!! I was born in '82 and the mid 80's first heard U2 music very cool, and the early 90's very cool too. Don't let those fuckers get to u. Love the 70's 80's and 90's times are great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I loved the old rollercoasters. Today they are as safe as fuck. Back then they were built of timber and they 'were' actually dangerous...lol. You knew they were dangerous and when you was up there they swayed, creaked and moved around a lot. That was the fun that you could actually die..like climbing a tree 70 ft in the air.
i was a little child in the 80´s and i grew up along the 90´s, definetly the 80´s sucks..., music and fashion specially, cinema was great, the 90´s rocks specially in the middle o the decade, in music, fashion, cinema, etc, but all the decade was great in almost everyway...
Yeah, well....technology isn't everything (and a bit overrated), theres more to life than that, I'm proud to be a 90's kid. you're a perfect example of my point - people focus too much on technology nowadays - what about TV, Music and fashion - to me those are the main elements of pop culture and it's lacking.
that's why I am here... I was born in 1970, so I was lucky to be a kid and teenager in those years, a lot of the things I miss right now, I took for granted back then... but change sneaks up on you slowly, by the time you realize, most of the good things are gone, never to be back again, some might remain if we are lucky. I'm actually from south Texas, so I grew up fully immersed in American culture... the shoping mall's over here were medium size, but like you said, they were different from each other, each on a had his own ...personality?. well, now if you have Ben to any american mall, pretty much you are not missing much from the other Mall's, because they all look alike... same stores, same colors, same logos, same restaurants, they look like a mass produced building, one of the malls in Brownsville Tx, had a Mexican theme in the whole Mall, adobe floors, adobe roof tiles, dark and light stained wood everywhere, solid wood beams, Arch's, etc... but they closed it in the late 90's, they expanded Sunride all,and most big stores left the mall for their own free standing stores with their own parking lot... I mean, like you said, where is the video Game Arcade? MusicLand, Sammy Good, Hastings video store, circuit city, toy's R Us, KB Toys, local owned stores, local owned food court etc???... when I started having kids, in '93-98, I kind of lost track of many things, and stopped going to the Mall that often, when I started going back to the mall to take my tween girl and friends to the mall, I felt like a fish out of water... wtf... everything was so different, so cold and so...so...cold... well, at leas we known what it was to have lived on the 70's, 80's, 90's and early 2000's...to me 9-11 changed everything, and I knew from than moment on the whole world was going to change for the worse... I hope I nevfashion, Alzheimer's disease or get amneasia, because I have so many good memories of growing up in those years...I will view your other videos, its my 1st time in your Chanel, and I subscribed already... see u in the tube...I do love/hate technology... but miss the no internet world...
We all wish to hop on a time machine and go back to the simpler days of our lives when we thought entertainment was at it's peak, but science won't allow it. You could be one of those guys that watches material on obsolete equipment while everybody else has more modern devices, or we could admit to ourselves that there is nothing we can do about it, and move on. That is the hardest part of life, removing yourself from the good times is not easy. But that doesn't mean that life has to end abrupt.
I totally loved the 80's. Remember the Hyper color t shirts? The ones that changed color based on your body temp. Bill and Ted were the kings of teen duo comedies. M.J., your shirt rules. I an a throwback, it's nice to know that there are people younger than me, who feel the same way. I hate so many things that are out now. Yes, even the shitty Hot Topics. Miss them good old days where the selection was out of this world.
I totally agree with everything; including "ghostbusters is the best movie ever made". Plus, it seems like all malls are changing to outside malls...i miss the good ole days!
Hi Guys, No negative comments here. Shawn & MJ are a nice wake up call for those living in the Matrix. I always feel a bit nystolgic when I watch 80's films. Particularily when watching The Lost Boys. I miss Comic shops & arcades so badly now! And if there is an arcade good luck finding any great classics IE Donkey Kong,Q Bert, Mario Bros. and or pinball games etc.Music is too depressing now..80's music and film has always lifted my spirits & now so have you guys! Thanks for that! Ryan
I agree with you and you are 9000% right!!! I dont know much about the past (Due to tha fact that i was born in the 90s not the 80s) but current times... SUCK! rap... emo.... whatever that new crap is... sucksssssss!!!!!
You guys have made like the best video I've looked at in for ever. I love the part about the music there is no style to it anymore. Yea I agree with you guys cell phones and the net are nice. But what ever happed to the people in the Mall's I remember a time when they were so packed on a friday and sat. night you could not walk..
You think just like me I full on lived the early 90's loved it!! There was this mcdonalds I always ate at which was 50's theme with a jukebox and it's still there..you guys remind me of songs like smashing pumpkins-1979 or foo fighters ever long
You guys are win. I am always bitching about the 00s and how kids today have the lamest childhoods. Kids now don't get the 90s and it was best time ever. I love you guys! :) I miss the arcade in the mall and the candy store! It's soooooooooooooooooo true!
I agreei graduated 1988 man 85 to 90 for me was the best time I am a guitar player and we had alot of fun playing loud and proud and people got along for the most part today's kids are just super mean and hateful I have a 15 year old now I was glad to be a 80s kid we did have our problems tho but nothing like kids today social media I think has ruined social good times
Hey some stuff from 96-2000 is still pretty cool, I was born in 89 so I don't really remember much of the early 90's but I do remember the late 90's early 2000's. Late 90's music was pretty sweet too. But yeah alot of things these days feel too materialistic and fake, I still have a faint vibe of the early 90's when stuff was still true to its roots.
i know wht u mean ...mall sucks now....lol..i live in hawaii...i thought we were the only ones,, guys...great video...make me think abt the times no more kaybees...no suncoast, and arrcades is sucking too.
Hey you guys are right about the "positive music" thing. I'm racking my brain trying to come up with some positive/happy modern music that also shows good musicianship... Out of all the newer bands I listen to, all I can come up with is Newton Faulkner. You might want to check his album out.
Well I have two siblings who are 35 and 37, they had a blast in the 80's as kids/teens. and I happen to like 80's fashion and hairstyles, I'm not gonna diss it now just because it's not the mainstream anymore, it all seemed more fun, clothes and hair today are extremely dull.
Yes thank you are 100% correct I think the reason for that is because music began to suck, TV and cartoons began to suck, video rental stores slowly started to close down, public places were slowly starting to go out of style, Gen Z completely began, RUclips really started to blow up in popularity, Pixar began to suck, movies started to become hit or miss, sequels to movies after 2005 weren’t all that great, video games started to slowly go downhill with Nintendo consoles being gimmicks based, and the complete start of the frutiger aero era began. There were some changes happening during 2004 and 2005 but it wasn’t until the 4th quarter of 2006 when things completely changed with things progressively getting worse throughout the rest of the years.
Dudes I totally agree with you both. The 80's was more fun with the malls and the arcades. I know I spent the early 80's hanging out at Spencers and Plum Tree. I am 42 and I really was there I lived it for real. I really understand what you guys are talking about. Three isn't much going on these days. One thing that really sucks are all the remakes of 1980s movies recently. Hollywood is fresh out ideas!
i agree with you that the 80s were FAR SUPERIOR to current times in any category , shape or form BUT how come in the dvd updates there's mostly this alleged crappy current movies ? we need more 80s !!!!
I agree the 80's and 90's were more raw and exciting. It is funny the only new albums i buy are by old bands that have reformed. The new crowded house album in which they have managed to keep their original style. Even the adds of today aren't as good as they were back then, at least in Australia any way. If you type in the "electric pandas" into the search. Click on the coke add and you will see. It was featured on the Oz VHS release of the ghostbusters. tell me what you think of it.
Okay, I'm in high school and I somewhat agree with you guys. I admit, current times suck. But, one thing I hate about the 80s is the clothing style and that's about it. I mean look at today, our economy sucks, 90% of the music sucks, hundreds of thousands of people losing their jobs, corrupt government. Boy what I wouldn't give to live in the '70s 80s and my birth decade the 90s. That 29 year span seemed like it was a better time.
I'm the biggest fan of the 80s also. A lot of what you guys said was true. ps, the kid with the ghostbusters shirt seems like he's going through withdrawls from drugs
I sort of agree. I am in my 20's and remember how good things were in the early 90's. I remember when movies were good, when the Nickolodeon lineup was awesome, and when Family Matters had new episodes.
Beyond specifics, or rather behind them, is a cyclical generational pattern that has been on repeat since WW2. It's an underlying motive; a constant battle between a popular appreciation for creation and independence, pitted against consumption and conformity. Teenagers nowadays are the children of the children of the children who partied it up on the spoils of WW2, without being the generation that earned/appreciated it.
and I don't get why people like you get upset just because certain people prefer other eras more, I've had WAY too many bad experiences to actually like this decade, the 2000's are okay....I just identify and relate more with the 80's and 90's.
It was glorious up until 1989. The new decade brought in huge changes as it would. The 90s sucked because all the pop music was singing about 'pain' bla, bla, bla!!
Yeah I'm glad I grew up and witnessed nicktoons, the 90's, and the great music and cd players. Also the malls and the cars were off the hook and everyone hung out there.
In 2008 I was in elementary school but I remember the 2000s vividly but I honestly like the late 80s early 90s for whatever reason maybe its who I grew up with as in immediate family or movies of the early 90s mid 90s that Netflix has resurfaced or just growing up on VHS movies and box TVs of the early 2000s but I like in the 2020s you can reflect on all the era's and pic back the good due to technology but the bad is today's times are bland but you can live within you're bubble like me I hardly use social media and my wardrobe is 2000s down along with a lot of things I'm into just naturally way before older things became cool lol but anyways maybe the 2020s will be nostalgia to these kids being born 2010 up.
They should bring back Blockbuster video stores other video stores too so Blockbuster isn't a monopoly. Bring back arcades. Put the Machines at 25 cents. Or even better make the arcade and charge people like $10 to play unlimited and you would have workers making sure if there are a lot of people that they don't hog the machines the whole time.
the only thing bad about f.a.o shwartz is that it is now really only for rich people.i went there recently and all they have are 3,000 dollar toy farrari cars for kids its insain.i used to like shows on nickoloden in the 80's and 90's like rockko.love your videos.
i like to wear sort of 50s style clothes but i don`t want them to come into fashion or then it won`t be my thing it will be everyones. i agree about the 90s though they were badass!!!!! even though they were technically worse than now they were amazing.
I should've been there with you guys doing this video. I agree 100% I try to give current stuff a chance but it's very rare that I like something from this century. Music, Movies, and TV shows from this century sucks. I guess its just as well so that I can spend my money on GOOD stuff from earlier times. I can't believe we are only in our 20s and we are already saying "whats the matter with kids these days? in my days we had this good stuff and we didn't have this crap"
Im tired of being stuck here in todays generation. The 80s and early 90s were fun and flashy. Music was good. TV Was Good and so were movies. I cant believe how far down hill it has all gone. If Nirvanas Kurt Cobain were still alive. He would be even more depressed than he was back then. Everything is fake dull and boring now.

It’s even worse in 2019, I’d love to be back in 2008 when this vid was made

SOOOO true ! I grow up in NYC and ID KILL TO LIVE IN NYC IN THE 80S
Miss them good old days where the selection was out of this world.
i 100 percent agree i was born 1990 but wish i was born so much earlier
It sucks not being born in like 1992 or so I was born in 1999 so I didn't get a lot lf the 90s
great video i love the 80s and the 90s i hate the new stuff
I totally agree with everything; including "ghostbusters is the best movie ever made". Plus, it seems like all malls are changing to outside malls...i miss the good ole days!
Hi Guys,
No negative comments here.
The 60's, 70's and 80's rocked, 90's and today's music suck !! The great music died in 1989.
Don't tell them to grow up, 80s movies are awesome.
1980 to 1999 was awesome. On e 2000 hit things went down hill.
I would say by 2009
You guys have made like the best video I've looked at in for ever. I love the part about the music there is no style to it anymore. Yea I agree with you guys cell phones and the net are nice. But what ever happed to the people in the Mall's I remember a time when they were so packed on a friday and sat. night you could not walk..
i wish i coulda been born in the 80's!
You think just like me I full on lived the early 90's loved it!! There was this mcdonalds I always ate at which was 50's theme with a jukebox and it's still there..you guys remind me of songs like smashing pumpkins-1979 or foo fighters ever long
Man you guys are prophetic. You saw everything coming 2 shit. I was born in 1984, and I agree with you.
You guys are win. I am always bitching about the 00s and how kids today have the lamest childhoods. Kids now don't get the 90s and it was best time ever. I love you guys! :) I miss the arcade in the mall and the candy store! It's soooooooooooooooooo true!
2000-2006 were much better
I agreei graduated 1988 man 85 to 90 for me was the best time I am a guitar player and we had alot of fun playing loud and proud and people got along for the most part today's kids are just super mean and hateful I have a 15 year old now I was glad to be a 80s kid we did have our problems tho but nothing like kids today social media I think has ruined social good times
oh, and thank you again for your most recent dvd update. Hope to hear back soon. Ryan
what i loved about the 90s was the feel like the video games-croc,rugratslol i was little the music was awesome to and shops omg i really miss the 90s
Do you guys know if there are any block busters left?i miss that.but you guys are correct
@TechMasterJason oh ok cool
i know wht u mean ...mall sucks now....lol..i live in hawaii...i thought we were the only ones,,
guys...great video...make me think abt the times
no more kaybees...no suncoast, and arrcades is sucking too.
although i love the 80s and early 90s, i think the 60s was the best decade EVER!
Hey you guys are right about the "positive music" thing. I'm racking my brain trying to come up with some positive/happy modern music that also shows good musicianship...
Out of all the newer bands I listen to, all I can come up with is Newton Faulkner. You might want to check his album out.
i concur, oh the 80's
Well I have two siblings who are 35 and 37, they had a blast in the 80's as kids/teens. and I happen to like 80's fashion and hairstyles, I'm not gonna diss it now just because it's not the mainstream anymore, it all seemed more fun, clothes and hair today are extremely dull.
i miss the mid-late 90's
I would have said things started to go downhill in 2006. Not 1996.
Hollywood is fresh out ideas!
i agree with you that the 80s were FAR SUPERIOR to current times in any category , shape or form
BUT
how come in the dvd updates there's mostly this alleged crappy current movies ?
we need more 80s !!!!
Yep
The 90´s ruled!
I agree by 1993 things got really bad.
BS! 1998-2006 was the golden era
Soooooooooooooo True I Miss My Light Up Shoes My Letters To Santa And My Batman Figures
80s and 90s were fun and there was always something new
the 80's is the best music, video game, and horror movie decade
80s gaming is dogshit.
and I don't get why people like you get upset just because certain people prefer other eras more, I've had WAY too many bad experiences to actually like this decade, the 2000's are okay....I just identify and relate more with the 80's and 90's.
I think the title should say "21st century sucks, 20th century rocks!" :)
In the mid to late 1970's were very easy going, the early 80's were sort of the same, after 1984 everything changed.
It was glorious up until 1989. The new decade brought in huge changes as it would. The 90s sucked because all the pop music was singing about 'pain' bla, bla, bla!!
Can you do more videos like this again cool duder
i'm 13, but the best 80s movie is The Fly, also it's the best movie of all time to me.
i dont really agree but what i miss so bad is good early 90's shows. i hate spongebob and crap like thats. and i miss old style disney movies :(
Yeah I'm glad I grew up and witnessed nicktoons, the 90's, and the great music and cd players. Also the malls and the cars were off the hook and everyone hung out there.
Social Media and smart phones ruined everything.
My memories are of the 90's and early 2000's. I don't remember the 80's
i feel i have lived the 80's
Any year in the 90s would do.. Lol... Any time is better than this rat infested society we now live in.
the only thing bad about f.a.o shwartz is that it is now really only for rich people.i went there recently and all they have are 3,000 dollar toy farrari cars for kids its insain.i used to like shows on nickoloden in the 80's and 90's like rockko.love your videos.
i like to wear sort of 50s style clothes but i don`t want them to come into fashion or then it won`t be my thing it will be everyones.
i agree about the 90s though they were badass!!!!! even though they were technically worse than now they were amazing.
I should've been there with you guys doing this video. I agree 100%
I try to give current stuff a chance but it's very rare that I like something from this century.
Coolduder make more of these videos!!! Pick up videos are cool but these are Awesome!!!
I agree that shirt is of the greatest movie all the time.
im 16,i love 80's and early 90's stuff! Fashion,music,TV U name it!
@@issaknife802 28 sir lol 😂
@@issaknife802 It was surprising to see someone reply to one of my comments from so long ago lol needless to say im still a big 80s fan to this day!
