During his pomp ,he was a ball playing central defender who had a good sense of anticipation ,he was brilliant on the ground & in the air just like Francis Shonhai despite his diminutive stature!.It was never on a Sunday !.Indeed tribute,bravo,kudos to Sunday Mhofu yeMukono ,Museyanwa,the trailbrazing,pioneering & history making footballer who Captained Dynamos&National Team.Mhofu made history by becoming the 1st post Uhuru National team skipper from 1980-1983 , a career curtailed by horrific leg break by Joseph Zulu of Rio Tinto @ Cam&Motor Mine Stadium.After leading Dynamos to a 4th consecutive league title in 1983 pipping Rio Tinto on goal difference Mhofu was pipped to the 1983 Footballer of the year by Rio Tinto`s Ephert Lungu having been robbed off the 1978 Footballer of the year gong,going to George Rollo from relegated Arcadia Utd.Mhofu went on to make further History by taking Dynamos to the 1998 Holygrail African Champions League final against ASEC MIMOSA.Mhofu went on to make further History by taking ZIM to her maiden Africa Cup of Nations in 2004.Indeed Sunday Mhofu will go down as a Zimbabwean Football Legend!.Salute Mhofu yeMukono,Museyanwa!.Mhofu is indeed Zim`s most successful coach having won a record 7 League titles with Dynamos & ONE as TD during David Mandigora`s tenure in 2008.There is no doubt Mhofu will go down in History as ONE of the best Central defenders produced in ZIM alongside Shadreck Ngwenya,Francis Shonhai,Ephraim Chawanda,Alex Maseko,his brother Misheck .

i watched SUNDAY at rufaro in the 80s.the best central defender.had he played later he wud of made it in EUROPE.
