The first time I've ever actively looked up a track from this game. Also literally the first time in either base pso2 or pso2:NGS I've felt this level of "Oh.". A tonal shift in song form. PSO2's story spoils you and we all know you're invincible etcetc. No matter what, everyone is safe and you're godjesus. And the soundtrack keeps that feeling for the most part. NGS is knocking it out the ballpark. There's a cheery little theme tune that plays when you're about to win in base, so the player knows that things are wrapping up. When I first fought NGS Dark Falz yeah, we had that very cheery tune at its second phase. That second phase accompanied by a spankin new health bar, when I don't recall any boss in the game prior having had as opposed to just one health bar and a couple phases. So "cheery" don't hit the way it does in base. I hadn't done the raid boss version of the story boss yet. I went in blind asf, not knowing what to expect but was expecting a cheery little cakewalk so I was also not exactly at endgame in any way, shape or form. So when that fight started, hoo boy. I didn't die, but I sure didn't feel like space jesus. And I loved every note and second and third of it.
One thing i especially like about this fight is how, while yeah pretty much every boss sends you flying if they hit you, with Ams especially it really feels like youre just getting tossed around like youre nothing if you get caught in one of his attacks

Ams is not a falz it was probably a DOLLS made using combat data from Ashes dark blast and experiences. as a sort of defense against an actual Falz or sealed Falz
@@cosmicboi1650 to be honest with you DOLLS falz is probably a mobile prison or a special DOLLS used to protect a seal. no Dark Falz has ever come around without corrupting the wild life and spreading infections and Dark photons. also Dark Falz aegis? sounds like a shield something you would use to DEFEND rather then wipe out the universe wich is each falzes mission

@@AzariusR theory is that all the Dollz are replicating based on old data, but corrupted. Renus Vera for example, could be a possible replication of Bar Lodos. They share similar attacks and transition attacks. They also both have a giant map wide burst.
@@YasaiTsume Yeah they do have similar traits but it might be just a nudge to Bar Lodos too yeah. Bar Lodos is much more of an Aquatic Serpent more than a Ground digging kind like Renus. The Ams are kinda also corrupted replication of Falz Hyunal(Hunar) but it is actually much stronger when it dons the Vera armor. While it's base form is just the Ams Krones.

Dolls are generally mimicking PSO2 darkers so its no surprise that the first major boss is an elder/hunar copy. There's barely any story in NGS and anything is up in the air. However, the fact that ams kvaris has a detachable armor and mask which made it look like any other dolls on the inside suggests that they are all artificial.
@@kaizerevo There are a surprising amount of lore tidbits from NPC's and datapods in Kvaris though. I dig it. Plus I actually liked the Sentai Siblings from the early Kvaris story.

Maybe 500 years ago ARKS discover the lost photoner technology and they're trying to replicate the Guardian power based on his/her data from the past. Somehow they failed to replicate the Guardian power and the data got corrupted resulting in the DOLLS creation.

I can't even say that it still has EPISODE 1 syndrome, because PSO2 EPISODE 1 was substantially longer and became a lot more interesting than Chapters 1 and 2 of NGS combined so far... EDIT: Chapter 5 introduced the best character in its final moments and proceeded to kill him like 10 minutes after introducing him and having him give us the most lore throughout the entire game.
It's the same guy that almost murdered pso2 with episodes 4-6 iirc The same guy that completely destroyed any sense of scale or tone that episodes 1-3 had built up

Its basically a subtle hint at a certain Dark Falz's return. the boss resembles it.

I really love the music and the battle too. I just wish Ams had any story at all. It really let me down compared to Nex and Renus.
