  • How to Use Bezel Punches to Bezel Set Round Gemstones - This is the fastest and easiest bezel setting technique I know of. It only works for round gemstones but this bezel setting technique works exactly the same for jewelry making whether goldsmithing or silversmithing.

    Thank you! I have a set but i took a 4 hour class and they put the tool on and rolled it around by hand. So i have a ring made like that but have never worn it because it didnt seem set, the faceted stone still moved alot so thank you i will be revisiting that ring. 😉

      If the stone is moving, it definetely isn't secure. The hammer insures enough downward force to complete the setting process securely. You'll be wearing your ring in no time. :)

    I like the way your nail polish matches the setting tools.

    Is there any chance of this tool scratching or chipping the stone? Or any stones that you would not use this with?

    • @JewelryArts
      @JewelryArts  2 месяца назад +1

      I have never had that happen but any kind of bullet shaped stone or very bulbous cabochon might have an issue. :)

    How do you get the stone out if you need to make adjustments to the bezel height? It looks so well stuck in there!

    • @JewelryArts
      @JewelryArts  2 года назад +1

      You check the height and make any adjustments BEFORE you start hammerring it in. :)

      @@JewelryArts I was noticing in a lot of your wonderful videos that you fit the stone in, look at the height, take the stone out, make adjustments.

      @JewelryArts  2 года назад +1

      @@lf9852 Every stone is cut a little different, so there are always small adjustments to be made. :)

    I have that set, the stone always wiggles out tho or moves, I think I have been hitting it to hard, or maybe the bezel has been to loose for the stone when I have done it.

      A tighter bezel will definitely help but just level it with a dowel and go back to setting. :)

    This was so great to see. Would you share the name of the large box of punches. None of my searches have come up with a set that has a punch larger than 10.00 mm. I have a faceted round stone that is 12.00 mm. By the way, I got your book on soldering some time back, but I was blown away when I came across your videos. I found the book somewhat intimidating (the spectacular jewelry) whereas your videos are so down to earth using your wicked sense of humor. Thanks for taking the time to help us all learn.

      @@JewelryArts Thank you so much for getting right back to me with the link. I had gone to your tools page but only saw the smaller round punch set. I will need to save up for this set but it looks like just what I want. Odd that Google did not show it when I searched. Also, I think I would have been right at home in your New Jersey.

    Thanks for a great video! Can I ask how you’re holding the bezel so securely in place? It looks like a padded cloth set in the vise, is that right? I’d have thought something like thermolock but if a cloth can do, even better! Thanks for the great videos!

    • @JewelryArts
      @JewelryArts  Год назад +2

      Ah, I used double stick tape to hold my earring to a block of wood and then closed that block of wood in my vise/ engraving ball. I use thermolock quite a bit but I wanted my earring laying really flat and thermolock is not always so great at that. :)
