Great work & great progress. Great also to see you back with the refurb.

Love these videos. Did the exact same wiring on a S1 (slightly fewer relays) in FEB 2022. Really appreciate the results of clean wiring both in terms of reliability and looks. Keep the videos coming

Good to see the progress, Matt. Wish I could be there getting in the way, lol

Nice job with the engine and the electrics Matt. Looks brilliant and makes perfect sense. You’ve put a lot of hours in there. I’d advise you to pull the AC hoses and replace them with modern hoses as well while you have easy access. They’re from the 70ties and they leak, I’m certain. You’ll kick yourself when you have to go in there again if you don’t do it now. Overall really cool progress. Good luck with the build.

    Cam,
These videos are fantastic, I can’t thank you enough for carefully crawling around the workings with clear explanations.
The issue that has been driving me bananas since the interior was redone are the low beams.
The flash and pass on the stalk works well, triggering the steering wheel stalk; the pods raise and lights flash then go back down.
Flipping the light switch does nothing with pods or headlights, it does activate the small parking/side lights, however if you flip the light switch on and flash with the stalk the pods stay up but no lights. Flipping the switch off the pods go down. The entire low beam circuit is not working
Your video seven explains the wiring and the relays well. The redundancies are interesting.
Where is the relay for the low beams?? I was told they are under the dash near the glove box. next to the blinker relays, I cannot seem to find it. Any help would be golden! Thank you, West Cam

Great stuff! I'm interested in purchasing an S2 project myself.
One commonality with Esprits is clearly electrical issues.
Looks like you're doing a great job!

Great job on the wiring, I just finished my restoration (79 - #788H) and wish I’d spent the time to better organize the wiring. Good luck with the build.

Brilliant video! As a fellow 1970s Lotus (Elite) owner, I know all too well the foibles of their wiring. I have added a few relays for things like the fans, headlights and (now) headlight lift motors. However, the thought of redoing the wiring harness as you have makes my brain hurt. I DO like the idea of multi pin connectors for the instrument cluster and tail lights. If I don't run the car for a couple of months it's like the electricty forgets where to go or the wires are clogged up and certain things don't work untill I've driven it some miles.
Anyway, I love your creativity, attention to detail and your clear explanations. Quite inspiring.
I will soon be getting into rebuilding an HC 2.2L 910 motor for NA use, but first have some constuction projects to finish. Will be consulting your past videos for that process.
    Thanks.

Thanks for the kind comments! I'm familiar with the Elite.. well sortof.. I restored a 74 Eclat years ago.. honestly, all early lotus cars are pretty much wired using the same logic. I've often wondered why Lotus didn't separate the harness into smaller harnesses with connectors. IMO it would have made assembly easier and faster. I can only assume it was cost.
Best of luck on the 910. It's a fun motor to build!

You certainly have been busy. Great progress! I completely relate to the window guides dilemma and scared to touch them as well as part of a redo. You did the wiring right! Thank you for catching us up and look forward to more videos in the future.

I would love to have been around the factory when they were aligning the window frames and guides to see the process.. im sure after doing it a few hundred times they developed a logical systematic approach... so many adjustment points!

@@west-cam agreed. For so many reasons I would have loved to have had a factory tour back when they assembled these cars, especially the early ones.

Label printer on heat shrink is great. I bought a Brother label printer mainly for this.
I know what you mean about tracing the circuits in a Lotus. I was fiddling with a Europa twin cam a few years ago, and the wiring design was, errr, worrying. Large amounts not fused. A large master fuse just after the battery was tempting (I would have fitted if it was my car).

Hi there, is there any chance we could get in touch, over social? Just to help with the pop up head lights.

Did the dashboard come out without removing the windshield?

Yes, just a few bolts attaching it to the door hinge support structure and under dash cross beam.
