I love your videos. You are very methodical in your explanations and you explain everything thoroughly and include the why. The "why" makes it all make sense. I hope you continue to make videos, they are the best on youtube that I have found. Thank you.

      Hi Marilyn,
Thank you for your kind comments. I produced the videos for my college classes during the pandemic. I have retired since and have gradually released the videos to the world through RUclips. It is very rewarding to be able to share these videos with you and others. I might produce more in the future after sorting out my new life and studio.
      Thank you again,
      Richard

Hi Richard. I always check back with your videos when I need a refresher. They’re great! I moved down to Laguna Woods in Orange County where there’s a terrific ceramic studio for residents. We’re looking for a lab tech if you happen to know anyone in the area who might be interested. It’s three days a week I think at this time. I understand you’re retired now (congratulations) but I thought you might still have your fingers in the mud. All my best. Pat

      Hi Pat,
It is good to hear from you, I hope you are well. I would recommend contacting Aardvark Clay in Santa Ana and Patrick Crabb who taught for years in Orange County and is well connected there. I would recommend getting his contact info from Aardvark.
take care and keep squeezing clay,
      Richard

Do you trim a foot on the bottom of a plate for a planter?

I do trim planter plates because a foot raises the plate off of the surface and allows any condensation from the water in it to evaporate and not damage what it is put on. Even if the clay is vitrified and glazed water can condense on the opposite side like a glass of water on a humid day.
