I make a lot of plates and have had the rims droop from time to time and the middle become humped...so, ya you have addressed my problem very well. wow you are a great practical teacher/instructor without the "woo woo." lol :)
Hi Bill... I really liked your explanation on plates. It would have really been great as you explain what happens to a plate as it hardens is have a plate leather hard, green ware, bisque fired and glazed to see all the stages.
BRAVO! I had some very beautiful plates, which I love and still use regardless, do that hump in the bottom, and I was wondering about that. Your fulcrum explanation made perfect sense: That's exactly what happened. What are you firing your glaze pieces to? And where can we see some of your finished work?

Would you consider a clip on handles? I have seen your clip on coils, but nothing on pulling handles. For some of us, attractive and functional and consistent handles are a real challenge. Thanks.
Hi Bill, I had a question about the angle of the flange: If you are making a plate with a smaller rim (1" or so), will it drop less in the kiln? Meaning should I throw the rim a bit lower initially if I want it to be close to flat after the glaze firing? Thanks!
thank you showing a finished plate would have completed the the lesson for me. I glaze the bottom of my plates to help off set the tention, or the desire for the bottom to want to rise do you think that this is helpful?
