Yup, I totally agree, I feel re-casters at time's have better customer service and sadly sometimes even better quality. I find it odd even with legit companies a lot of cheaper ones have no seem lines and better service and expensive companies are full of seem lines and don't seam to give a crap if you wait 8 months for your doll, like really? I want to rant but I should probably hold back, also me and run-on sentences lol. love your vid's and he looks really kool can't wait to see him all done up : D

Thank you! It might be a while until I get to his face up (there's a queue LOL!!) but I'll definitely show him as progress is made... As far as ranting goes, sometimes a bit of a rant does us good I think LOL!! 😂😂😉😉

The recast companies also treat you better. I'm a proud recast owner and would never part with my doll. The Junky Spot is the only Legit seller where I felt the customer service was above and beyond.

I just recently decided to buy a bjd and I made the choice to go recast because I have watched a lot of videos of unboxings and I have heard the wait times and seen the mistakes that the companies make. I have seen so many videos where the person opening the doll will say something like "oh no they sent the wrong eyes" or "the shoes to the fullset are missing." Its like you have to wait several months for something and then it could be wrong and not only might it be wrong but the company kind of has you at their mercy whether they even try and fix their mistake.
I bought through ebay and aliexpress for my first two dolls and I also used Paypal to buy them so if something goes wrong I will file a claim. I don't think you have that safety with some of the legit companies.

What people fail to realize is that legit companies and art doll companies are forced to charge hundreds more because the resin they use is rare and mined from the deep bowels of the Patagonian Mountains in South America. Then after extraction it is shipped to France where further refinement is done by hand using only the small hands of spinster virgins. Colors are achieved by the drying and pulverizing of rare and almost extinct beetles. This could take ages...….. don't ya know??

@@dollyscrumptious6257 - Just to add that you and I as adults could probably afford legit and art dolls but most of the people in the bjd hobby are just kids who don't have a pot to piss in. To encourage this nonsense to children is IMMORAL. There is ZERO reasons for these "legit" dolls to be so expensive. My two favorite dolls are my MiroDoll Rain and Wind - 1/3 size and each under 200$ including shipping and I received them within a month. I hate this PRO- ARTIST drivel!!!!

I have been looking at getting a recast of Daniel myself. (My hubby's name is Daniel & I love when I find a doll with a family members name.) Seeing your video makes me want him even more. I love your sense of humor, you had me lol a few times!
@Recastoutlaw, (love your name by the way). I agree with you on all points. Pro artist people say buy second hand. What exactly does the artist get out of that sale method? Nothing. Why doesn't the artist do their thing, make a run of however many dolls for the "legit crowd" then sell the mold to a mass production company to sell for less to the rest of the doll community? I'm an adult, with children & a mortgage, I can't even justify spending $100 on a beautiful piece of resin let alone $200+. So for me, it will always be recast.

Entirely false statement, which is fabricated to support the illegal recast industry. BJD resin is made from man-made petrochemicals.

    • @dollyscrumptious6257

A 'legit' doll is one made officially by a recognised doll company. They have artists who design their doll's faces (or 'sculpts') and each company has it's own body designs too. A recast is an unofficial copy made without the company's consent, often in China. A recast costs much less than a legit doll. There are lots of people who buy recasts but you should be aware that there are doll collectors who are very much against them. Recast dolls are not allowed in certain forums and groups on FB but there are 'recast friendly' groups for owners on FB who wish to share their dolls. Hope that helps. x

He looks very well made. Nice sculpt. I know exactly what you mean about the waiting time for legitimate dolls. It's one of the main reasons, other than price, that affords people to buy them. Though I don't agree with recasts, what people choose to do with their money is their choice. I certainly feel that a person is more important than the doll they choose to own.
    Take care. :-)
