Happy weekend, Matthew. Great, informative video concerning jury duty. About 25 years ago I was selected for jury duty. I was with a pool of a half dozen other people at that time. The defense lawyer walked in and looked us all over one by one and asked us questions. When he got around to me , I shared with him that I was a Christian. He thanked me for sharing that with him and after all the questioning walked out . A few minutes later I was dismissed from the jury pool . 😊.

Hi Garry, that is a very small pool you were part of. One of the reasons why I felt I had to make this video is because of the upcoming problems jurors will have if a juror gets selected for the upcoming Trump trials. I didn't say that explicitly in the video but I made this video in case someone gets caught into a bad case where nothing but bad things can come from serving as a juror.

@@MattCommand1Indeed it was a small pool. Perhaps it was because they needed an additional replacement for a juror for one they already selected? Who knows.🤔

Wasted a week in the jury pool recently because the judge was apparently sick. Zero communication as to what was going on. I’m a commercial broker and was in the middle of a deal. Very frustrating… I may do it when I retire but can’t afford the time or potential loss of income at this point in life

It is our civil right/duty to be able to serve as a juror. My husband was on a grand jury, that was once a month for a year.
To be judged by your peers, not a paid government official.
    6th and 7th amendment.

You are correct that it is a civic duty. You only have to show up. But you also have a right to ask to be let out, or disqualified for that civil duty. It is a thankless job.

@@MattCommand1no, I gave a reason as to why I couldn’t do that at that time, my mother with dementia was moving in with us at that time. I emailed them that day I got the notice. No reprieve. I had to go 2 weeks later for the juror process. I wasn’t chosen, thankfully. because I had way too much to research when dealing with a mother who wasn’t in my life, and figuring out her finances and how to deal with dementia.

@@ing3666 Yes, it is very difficult to skip attendance. I have the same problem. But once you attend, there are opportunities to be disqualified. If you have too much going on in your life, they don't want you as a juror because you will be too distracted.
