You missed one very important tip: when you start straight shaving, apply very very little pressure. If one is used to shaving with a cartridge razor, their first instinct is that you need to apply some pressure to get a closer shave. With a straight razor that is not the case in the slightest. Blade is very sharp and you don't need to use more than the weight of the blade. If you apply more pressure you are prone to razor burns and nicks because u are removing not only the hairs, but a layer of your skin as well

Are you saved? If you died tonight would you go to heaven or hell?
The Gospel, which means the Good News is the news that God Almighty, the Creator came in the flesh as Jesus Christ to take away the sin of the world. The one God is a trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Son came and laid down his own life to save ours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for our redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him. Although God's creation was created perfect, having no death, sickness and disease, the creation became corrupted through Adam and Eve in them disobeying God. In this rebellion the creation became fallen through the curse of sin and mankind became separated from God. This world is fallen, but God offers reconciliation to him through his provision at the cross. Ultimately God will restore his creation to perfection when he returns but those that who reject his offer of redemption will remain condemned by their sins and go to hell.
      John 1:1,14 KJV
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD.
[14] And THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH , and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
      John 1:10 KJV
He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

I started learning to shave with a straight razor at 12 years old. After many cuts, some rather deep, I learned the techniques you talked about. The razor I learned with was the original design of a single piece blade, not a replaceable blade design. Now I am learning to use a replaceable blade. It is very different from having to sharpen the blade on hone then strap, or just the strap. Sharpening my own razor ment I could sharpen the blade to suit me, and I was ultra familiar with my razor. That closeness with the blade does have an effect on the use. So now I am having to adjust for that part not being there. I enjoy my wet shave. The hot water or hot wet towel to soften the hair, then the hot lather from the brush and the soothingness, then letting it (the warmth) soak in, then the smooth glide of the blade over your skin, then the soft after care of the hot towel then cold water followed by the lotion/after shave. It might take me 30 minutes to an hour to shave because of letting the stages take their due time. That is a gentleman's shave. It takes a true gentleman to hold a blade to your own throat and not cut yourself. I enjoyed this video.

One tip I think you missed was always cut with the direction your hair is growing in. If you try to cut against the direction your hair is growing in. The blade is so sharp it will go under the hair follicles and open you up. Learned this from experience as a newbie. Very helpful video bro. Especially the 30 degree angle point. :)

The reason you stretch the skin is to prevent cuts, because the blade is less likely to get caught on the skin when it is less squishy.

I did pretty good my first time was yesterday day and all I used was the instructions that came with the straight razor i bought from amazon. the one i bought came with a pack of 100 blades plus the straight razor for 13$, it was on sale. and it worked better than the regular razors I was using I was really surprised how well it worked and i only cut my self one time on my very first time using it which i think was pretty good but i also softened my hair by using a hot wet towel first by laying it on where I was shaving for a few minutes first. it seriously worked really good! oh and I diddnt end up with razor burn and it diddnt hurt while shaving which both those problems I usually have with a normal razor you buy at walmart. like I dont know why regular razors hurt I think it pulls the hair sometimes or it's the little pieces of hair that gets stuck between the blades that's hard to knock out from between the blades and they poke you and keep the blades from getting a clean cut or something, but ya I diddnt have any of those problems. i reccomend seriously trying a straight razor if you never tried one!! 👍🏻👍🏻

If you stretch the skin to tight in sensitive areas like under the chin say on the neck, you can easily cause in growing hair,
like you stated `stretching the skin raises the hair up at its highest from the follicle, and when you release the skin` the over cut hair can end up to short under the skin and can`t grow out of it pores correctly, this then grows under the skin and causes rashes or irritation and lumps and bumps, known as shaving rash and cause spots where oils from the face gets trapped under the pores due to the hair,
The method you mentioned is mainly ok for less sensitive areas, like you demonstrated.
Think of it like cutting your toe nails to short in the corners, this can cause in growing nails as the nail doesn`t grow over the skin it grows into the skin, So for your viewers there's a tip,
Don`t pull your skin to much on sensitive areas and your keep the shaving rash down,
If you want a very close shave, without pulling the skin to much wash the face in warm soapy water to remove natural oil from the hair this natural oil keeps the hairs softer ,witch you need them stiffer. then keep swilling the face in really cold water to make the hair stiffen up, place a non oil ,try to use shaving soap made with natural fats, and using cold water ,to make your shaving soap.
    Then shave,
once you go over twice ,after second shave swill face in warm water to remove shaving soap, then several swills with ice cold water and leave to dry naturally, this allows a little moisture back to the skin as the pores are closing back up and tightens up the skin` after a few minutes then rub a little aftershave( mixed with after shave face cream)
Do not put after shave alone on the skin straight after a shave, always leave for several minutes, be for doing so.
if your skin can take it you will get a closer shave using cold water on the face with no shaving soap, just follow instructions above but don`t use shaving soap only cold water for a lubricant, Stiffer the hair quicker blades blunt, softer the hair longer the blade lasts, but not a closer shave,

I shave my husband’s face yesterday and I nicked few spots. So I stopped and used the electric shaver to finished the rest. Also it feel smooth but if I run my hand the opposite direction of the hair growth still feel rough.

Great video! My straight razor comes in tomorrow after 2 years of researching and talking about getting one. Hopefully it works out cuz standard razor replacement blades just cost too damn much and I get very little mileage out of them.

Just heard you on the Star Report. Didn’t realize you were from NBNY… Enjoyed my time up there when I attended MSMC… long story short, about to start getting my shaving gel from you instead of Amazon

Great video and all your tips worked great on the left side of my face. However, I'm blind from my right eye and though it doesn't prevent me from doing many things, I highly don't recommend trying to shave the other side (the blind eye side). Trust me when I say that it's a bad idea. But the video is great.

I've been a straight razor shaver since 2013. I recently bought a Japanese kamisori with an asymmetrical grind and it's a whole new game. Completely different shaving and holding technique.

I have yet to use a straight blade. Using a safety razor for the time being. But even trying out the different shave creams, foams, etc. whatever else is out there, at least for me, first using a pre-shave oil then a few minutes later a quality shaving gel works best for me.
