      Well if we were to make parallels to their steam behavior. They would get fired from McDonalds for undercooking their burgers and lashing out at anyone who told their friends how awful their burger was.
      If he somehow got a managerial position, he would blame his failing business on the fact critics didn't know what a good burger tasted like.

    The way developers act with criticism reminds me of a quote from a cartoon The Critic:

      While no one was looking, Digital Homicide released forty games. They

    • @vagrant2863
      @vagrant2863 8 лет назад +15

      Some people found their games and thought "I'd rather jump in some flames"
      Digital Homicide didn't take this so well, so they started to yell
      And unbeknownst to you, they threatened to sue
      101 people, many from the forums of a great steeple
      They created a fuss while trying to hush it up
      101 people too many for DH to sue
      In their lies they sealed their demise
      A laughing stock, with a crashing business stock
      And as DH failed they soon began to wail
      For all their lost trading fees, greenlight steam keys, and their feces (games).

    I hav to admit I'm still shocked over their behaviour. Any decent, self-respecting human would admit when they're discovered doing shady things and admit defeat, but not these two, oh no. Apparently it's not enough to be found being shifty and continuing to break steam's TOS and even referencing it in their document as a legitimate business venture, but that they have the sheer goal to act like they're the innocent part who never harmed anyone and were always in the right. Even when they've lost and been kicked off steam, they're still apparently in the right. They must be BEYOND disillusioned to believe that bullshit.

      The sad truth of the matter is Jim is shady as fuck him self. He expects the AAA reviewer treatment if your game is going through green light, there is a good chance he will do a impression of it, if you don't give him a review copy he will crap all over your game. The key thing to do is pretend he doesn't exist period because his criticism can often be shit, and his fanboys will defend him to the end running your name through the mud along with it. If Digital homicide decided to ignore his shit, then he would have almost zero power over them. If you want a good review from him give him a review copy and the bonus goodies all AAA reviewers blackmail, I mean kindly ask for including ad campaign funds esc... Well I mean that is how destructiod use to function. Promote and give good reviews on any games that paid for the ads. That is the shady crap from most of the "Gaming News Journalism" as a whole though.

    I really think these two guy's have some mental disorder. They can't take any critics, they overreact big time on anything directed at them, they truelly believe they are in their rights. In the interview with Jim Sterling they even said that their own games weren't good, but that they are just starting and that it is a learning curve for them and that Jim's first video's weren't good either. Jim replied that he didn't ask money for his video's where Digital Homicide does, so that is the difference. Needless to say they only comeback Digital Derpiside had was that the number of games Jim mentoined wasn't true, they made even more games that year so there for Jim didn't do his research.
    I mean...we should start a kickstarted for them. A kickstarter to hire a pshyciatrist to have a look at these two.
    Sadly Digital Nutcasecide isn't the only one pulling shit like this. A lot of Indy developers on Steam who make really crappy "I just completed a tutorial how to make my first game with Unity" games strike at youtubers who give a negative comment about the game with a copyright strike. I don't know what it is with these people, what they hope to gain. Maybe they truelly suffer from some mental disorder or maybe they are really that stupid, but unable to accept negative things about your game, means you have no business in the creative sector. Cause when you make something for the public, wether you ask money for it or not, there will be people who don't like it. Not to mention that shit remains shit, no matter the price tag.

    What kind of fucking judge WOULDN'T throw out this lawsuit? Christ, strip that guy off the bench...

    • @Akalistos
      @Akalistos 8 лет назад +9

      *_"What kind of fucking judge WOULDN'T throw out this lawsuit?"_*
      A smart one or one that don't want to deal with this shit anymore.
      Precedent in court is really important and can influence similar lawsuit down the line. By having Digital Homicide actually finish their trial and not throwing it out, the judge could potentially rule that Review (which are protected under fair use) cannot be considered harassment. Such verdict would then be use in court for other reviewers who often get shit for unfavorably reviewing a bad game (Like TotalBiscuit for example) and make the proceeding go faster or easier to dismiss the lawsuit. Completing the trial also give the right to the judge to punish Digital Homicide for frivolously use the legal system as his own attack dog. Not to mention that Sterling can ask for punitive damage to pay for his legal fee. Of course, that the normal to best scenario. Sterling could totally shit the bed and fuck himself over.... which would be equally entertaining. It's like a bunch of aggressive hoboes fighting in a tournament for a giant bottle of hooch. No matter who get on top, we win.
      All and all, I think it's for the best.

    • @WobblesandBean
      @WobblesandBean 8 лет назад +3

      Come on, dude. Any idiot can see that the lawsuit is complete horseshit and all that judge could possibly have accomplished by allowing it to go forward is force the victims to undergo a costly, drawn-out, emotionally draining shitshow of a court case.
      And what's worse, when it WAS thrown out, it was dismissed without prejudice, leaving the door open for DH to do it all over again. If it was dismissed _with_ prejudice that still sets the same precedent that DH has a history of filing frivolous lawsuits as a harassment tactic.

    • @Akalistos
      @Akalistos 8 лет назад +17

      Amelia Bee
      *_"Come on [...] court case. (essentially; Why won't somebody think of the children or the Empathy Defence)"_*
      You clearly don't understand the court system, the concept behind it, how it adapt and change nor what it's actually supposed to be. You're probably basing your knowledge on Law and Order episode or any other courtroom drama which are completely different from the real thing. Me too, at first, I didn't know until a friend who happen to be a lawyer explain a few things to me. I suspect you need the same help.
      You also don't refute the benefit I pointed out earlier nor explain why should I care about those two jokers (both Sterling and the Digital Homicide goofballs... and jokers because I couldn't give less of a shit about them) which render your first paragraph completely moot.
      *_"And what's worse, when it WAS thrown out,"_*
      Wrong Lawsuit. The only one thrown out was Digital Homicide VS Steam users. It's not worst because it's not the same lawsuit.
      *_"it was dismissed without prejudice, leaving the door open for DH to do it all over again."_*
      Which is normal.
      Let me give you a crash course in law 101 (which is something my aforemention friend told me). When you sue or when the cop nailed you for a crime. They build up a case which they then submit to the court which examine it. *It's only a summary and not the full story*. It's in court that both side can actually air their grievances and explain themselves or make their defence known. If a judge think, based on that summary, that the Accused / District Attorney have a good enough reason then he has no choice but to validate this to court.
      Now, if no side were able to be heard, there's no way the Judge can make a judgement. That is why the Judge cannot dismiss this with prejudice.
      *_"If it was dismissed with prejudice..."_*
      The judge wouldn't have done his job as expected by the state (or country) and would be out of a job.
      This isn't rocket science tho. Why do people think the justice system is their very own Punisher (the marvel character) and should just punish out on a whim? That's more retarded than the whole Digital Homicide saga. The principle of our judicial system is to be fair: Fair to the accused as much as the Accuser. That's why the accused has a right to defend himself just like the accuser has a right to state his case.
      And the worst part is... if You would get arrested by your "system" or how you think it should work (ie: where the judge can make a verdict without the full story or hear from you), you'll be the first one call bullshit. That's Ironic, isn't it?
      *_"that still sets the same precedent"_*
      No. Thrown out court case don't create precedent.

  • @InfernalLawyer

    About Dungeon's of Kragmore: It's worth pointing out that DH claims that their reason for ditching it is that the game wasn't making them enough money to break even, trying to shame everyone criticizing their shovelware because "if we followed your advice we would go out of business".
    I mean... look, make money how you gotta to put food on the table, but don't out and tell people that they're stupid for wanting better products. You have the right to make shovelware, but that right isn't a blanket armor against criticism. Your shit games are still shit, and you gotta deal with that.
    Hell, I'd almost be willing to buy the "woe is me" act if they weren't so goddamn aggressive towards everyone, and FREELY ADMITTED they wasted thousands of hours (trying to) study law so they could throw lawsuits at everyone.

Last we heard from them, they were busy whinging about how the media was being unfair about them ("in reality we were fighting for lower prices and a more open market") and even pointing fingers at other shit peddlers and going "look, look, they don't even have to go through Greenlight! So why isn't it okay when WE do it?"

    Very well done video. It's absurd that this whole incident went as far as it did. Digital Homicide did a business practice, asset flipping, that is frowned up and when they receive negative reviews which were deserved because it was clear the little amount of effort they put in a game, they throw a hissy fit and try to justify that somehow it's not fair that they get judged much like other games that do the same thing. They got exactly what they deserved for try to silence people that are just trying to inform the consumer of the game. It really is the same incident that happened to TB with Garry's mod. It's a shame as there are developers out there that actually have an amount of maturity and use said criticism to help make their games better. Attacking reviewers just is begging for problems in return, especially because the companies in question were clearly trying to quiet negative votes by deleting comments left and right that point out the game's flaw. Digital Homicide might as well filed a lawsuit on the grounds that their feelings were hurt because that's what this came down to. Again, when you clearly use assets to make a quick profit, expect to get called out for it. It sucks because there are decent games that use assets which have care and attention put into them that are buried under this kind of garbage :(

    Learning more about the digital homicide meltdown saga in modern day just makes this whole story even more crazy to me. That's because it's 2024 and people are still acting just as entitled as them, especially in the entertainment industry. Now people are trying to virtue signal away criticism or use their identity to play the victim card. As if being being born a certain way or liking certain genders means you deserve success. Everyone needs to learn eventually that success is earned not given.
