Doesn't matter if he's powered-up or not, Goku is way too powerful, way too well trained, way too experienced & possesses way too extraordinary reflexes & instincts for him to ever be caught off guard by any kind of weapon like a plain old laser pistol!!! Light speed was never a thing in DBZ, even SSJ Gotenks didn't have that kind of speed, 8 laps around the world in just under 30 minutes while testing his abilities. Light travels the planet 8 times in a second...
Goku at the start of dragon ball could lift a car. Goku surpassed Tao, becoming a moon buster. Tao couldn' teven hurt him, but a bullet hurt his face. King piccolo fought him, punches did some damage, but King Piccolo used his Ki and rendered a leg useless... and then proceeded to break moon busting Goku's leg and arm with rocks... rocks > moon busters. Frieza force carry blasters and their average power level was like... low-mid 1000's. So they have blasters that can end moon busters, but you wouldn't expect me to believe their blasters would blow up planets right? Goku then goes through x100 gravity and peaks out there. Vegeta peaks into x500 gravity pre android saga. Goku pre-buu saga trains with 8 tons in base but could not handle 40 without going super saiyan (Super saiyan does increase muscle mass so it does increase physical strength). So Base Goku isn't even 40 times stronger roughly than Kid Goku...and no x10 boost from kai's planet... that planet was blown up, this was a completely different planet which never claimed x10 gravity Your power level increasing x10 does not mean every single attribute of your body increases 10x. Reflexes, speed, and ki intensity are the main factors that increase. The problem is you're confusing power levels with physical strength and durability. If Goku gets kicked into a mountain it still hurts. He will still shield himself from projectiles that aren't ki like bullets or rocks or flying debris from someone powering up because he can't simply tank them without pain. He is TRAINED to withstand ki, and his body is conditioned to withstand lava but much higher than that and he can potentially be cooked. LASERS on the other hand are thousands of times hotter than Lava And then there are characters who are built to withstand such things, as their races are typically born with higher power levels. Frieza would have to have had a godly frame to withstand his infant power level. Broly is huge probably to compensate for his power level. Cell could tank bullets and artillery, he was literally designed with armored skin.
They should’ve just taken this out entirely. He would literally have to be weaker than kid Goku at that moment to be effected by something like this. If Cell with his guard down can take a destructo disc to the neck there’s no reason this scene should exist.
1) I don't think Cell's guard was down when he took the distructo disk 2) When someone lets their guard down, they lower their defense and don't suspect an attack. That's why Goku got hurt by the laser
What’s Up he’s more like the flash than superman. The flashes have this incredible speed that allows them to travel faster through time, regenerate faster, and learn and perceive things quicker. but they have to actively be using it, and control it. Otherwise their normal humans.

No goku is just squishy to lasers. Dude never could take a hit from anything that wasn't composed of ki. Rocks, bullets, lasers, bulma, mountains, giant islands thrown via telekinesis. Didn't king piccolo break his bones with rocks when nothing else worked? Wasn't Goku a moon buster at that point?

Chapofrom67 St As a kid he wasn’t shot by lasers. Even if he was do you think those lasers would be the same as the ones decades later? Frieza Force has advanced tech. When Z fighters don’t have their guard up they’re basically just regular humans with abnormal durability. This is proven when Goku is hurt by a rock. If a rock is able to hurt him without his guard up, a laser shot at his chest can definitely incapacitate him.

In DBZ he could endure multiple shots of Majin Buu in base form while making a Genkidama. Idk but if freezer's army had weapons as strong as Majin Buu shots I believe they wouldn't need to resurrect freezer in the first place.

They are simply not that physically powerful, period. They are still made of flesh and blood and are trained to counter Ki, not lasers, rocks, bullets, etc. Ki is the driving force in everything they do. Kid Goku could lift a car and bulma episode 1. When he beat Tao he was a moon buster, but still was effected by a sniper bullet to the face, literally said it hurt, and he was definitely "on guard". Then when fighting King Piccolo, he took physical attacks like a champ but then he breaks an arm and a leg with ROCKS. Rocks did just as much damage as a targeted Ki attack. Rocks > Moon Buster. Goku in late dragon ball was carrying a few hundred kilos to train with, which slowed him significantly. Goku after his first death trained on King Kai's planet and could barely move in x10 gravity. (it was better after he took his weighted clothes off, but still difficult) Vegeta was defeated on Earth by an oozaru falling on top of him, he was weak but still an oozaru should have been nothing compared to actually getting hit and he still overpowered yajirobe and had enough ki to stop Gohan to begin with. Goku then graduated to 100x gravity and his "official" weight is 137 pounds so he's about 13,700 pounds, or 6.85 tons. Vegeta pre android saga was able to hit 500 times gravity, as 120 pounds was his "official" weight that was 60,000 pounds or 30 tons. After dying Goku was seen training with 8 tons, but 40 tons became too much (He did have it on his arms and legs, so it would be a bit more difficult than just gravity training), he couldn't even stand that weight and had to go super saiyan just to use his limbs again, which enhances physical strength to make up for the ki overload. And no, there was no x10 gravity, nowhere did it mention that planet had x10 gravity, only King Kai's planet had that kind of gravity and it blew up. So by this point Vegeta was likely PHYSICALLY stronger than Goku, but Goku clearly held the power advantage. Fast forward to the tournament of power SSJ Vegeta couldn't even lift Magetta who was only 1000 tons, sure this isn't his most powerful form but judging by the fact that Kid Goku could already lift a ton, and Vegeta capped out at 1000 at Super saiyan, how much more do you think he'd be able to lift in blue? Not much more, that's for sure. But people want you to think these guys are invulnerable and can lift mountains or pull planets. They're just Ki resistant because ki is a part of their martial arts, and punches and kicks are infused with Ki. Lasers, rocks, and bullet are fair game unless said character has a greater physical resistance to damage. Like how Frieza had to be born with a more powerful body to withhold his ki, this is why he can survive planetary destruction, or how Cell has armored skin. Fat buu had none of those things and bullets actually did something, his power level wasn't relevant. When Whis brought up his guard, he made it a point to punch Goku in the gut. Goku being in blue form wouldn't have negated the fact that that would have hurt, "Goku dropping his guard" is whis referring to the fact he has no situational awareness and was overconfident, not that the fact he let himself get squishy.

Exactly, when Frieza was out of energy Goku should have hurried up and finished off Frieza instead of giving him another chance to leave the planet just like battle on Namek when he gave Frieza some of his energy. Plus even if He let Frieza live, huge chance Frieza would have destroyed Earth.

Goku pre-buu saga trains with 8 tons in base form on his arms, which makes sense because 2 tons on a limb isn't the same as just "lifting" said weight but 40 tons is where he can't even keep himself afloat. There was no x10 multiplier, that was only mentioned to be relevant on King Kai's world, which was blown up and not restored until Super. Fast forward to the TOP and SSJ Vegeta couldn't even lift a 1000 ton Magetta. Ki and lasers are effectively different, you can't compare Frieza's death beam which has penetrative ki power, to that one dude's laser ring, lasers can be millions of degrees hot and we've seen goku tank lava, but lava is nothing compared to lasers. So SSJ Vegeta in the TOP was barely 1000 times stronger than Kid Goku... and there was also a training period where Vegeta was training with lasers and he opted to use his armor in Super. The lasers very clearly affected him as well, thank god for the armor. For the record, Frieza force also used blasters and their average power levels were in the low thousands, which meant they had blasters that could kill moon busters since they were stronger than Roshi... but you wouldn't be able to convince me those blasters could blow up the moon. It all makes sense because their physical durability and strength has nothing to do with their power level, power level merely indicates how well you can handle ki, which punches and kicks are infused with, this is why getting kicked into a mountain still hurts, lasers burn through them, why they cover themselves when someone powers up, why they punch rocks and bullets instead of just tanking them, and why they have to use ki to escape being trapped in boulders. Transformations DO increase strength to some degree, this is why their muscles expand but with proper ki control they mitigate that because bigger muscles slow them down.
Gohan and Krillin were really going to just stand there and watch Goku get killed. Just stand there, mouths hanging open, not doing a thing. Thank good for Vegeta because everyone else is fucking useless. I guess that’s the fault of the writing though.
The smackdown that follows, with Vegeta trash talking Goku's moronic penchant for endangering the world he's protecting to allow villains to power up and give him a better fight (while mercilessly kicking the shit out of Frieza) is one of my favorite moments in the series. Doesn't change Goku though.

Fun fact: Theres a thing called ki. I dont know if youve been paying attention since this anime started but it can be manipulated into a shield which allows him to block and survive fatal blows. And thats what goku uses except here where he left his guard down
For the rock it is a filler of the anime -For the laser if goku was injured it’s because he dropped it whis explained it when we drop it it it doesn’t matter you at power you become vulnerable to everything otherwise in the arc namek goku would have died after the ray of death of freezer that he received in the head - it is not a weakness just it is vulnerable to disease nothing more

@@CaliPump Goku drops his power level consistently and on purpose to enjoy life and conserve energy. Going to sleep does not automatically drop your power level, you have to choose to lower it and not everybody is capable of lowering their power level. For example, The Ginyu Force had power levels in the 50000's, but Ginyu was the only one of the group that knew how to hide his power level That being said, Goku's minimum power level would probably be 10 and I highly doubt he dropped his power level beyond what his full base power was. He powered down from Super saiyan the first time he tried to fly away from Frieza on Namek, this is just people reaching for an excuse because they can't realize Goku simply isn't that durable to anything that isn't made of Ki. He shields himself from rocks and bullets for a reason, he can't tank them. And Frieza did try to kill him with Lava on Namek, he's supposedly immune to it now but lasers are thousands of times hotter than lava. For reference, SSJ Vegeta in the tournament couldn't even lift Magetta (1000 tons, Kid goku in episode 1 could lift a car and Bulma and throw them, so physically SSJ vegeta isn't even 1000 times stronger than Kid Goku) , so they're not as strong or durable as they're made out to be. Physical strength does not increase in relation to your power level, otherwise they'd be benchpressing mountains at this point.

To those saying it's because Goku had his power level lowered that's not how lowering your power level works. It does weaken you by keeping holding back your ki but your bodies base strength without use of ki doesnt change. For example there have been moments like Frieza's soldier laughing at Trunks power level of 5 before getting one shot. Scouters just read ki. Kid Goku was getting surprise shot by guns, lazers, and tanks when he was just a kid and didnt even know what ki was. There is no excuse for this.

I feel like this isn't the DBZ universe. I keep getting the feeling this is another, VERY similar universe but not quite the same. DBZ universe is stronger.
Goku actually can't be shot cause he took atronger stuff. This scene here was important for the story. Same as saitama get scratched by a cat be beaten up by bang lile 100 times. Saitama stands no chance to goku by the actual facts we have and unuse the comedy or side parts which make no sense.
They slap away non-ki projectiles away for a reason, rocks, bullets, etc. Because that shit hurts and ki doesn't "autoprotect them" from it. When faced with Ki however the opponents ki has to overcome their own ki, if you try to punch Goku with ki he isn't even going to feel it if you're significantly weaker than him. But throw a rock hard enough and he's going to go out of his way to avoid or block it. Physically Goku is almost bulletproof regardless of poewr level, this is why getting slapped into a mountain still hurts him unless he's projecting himself via flight. King Piccolo fought and beat on Kid Goku, no damage was done for the most part until he chose to blast a leg with ki, rendering it useless, he then literally broke two of goku's limbs with rocks, and Kid Goku was a moon buster at that point. Rocks > Moon buster. This lore carried over, people just refuse to realize it and hide behind "his guard was down" which was Whis referencing his awareness and reflexes, not his power level. Goku wouldn't have tanked that blow no matter how high his power level was.
Am i the only one who gets dragon ball Piccolo vs Goku vibes in that scene? When Goku let his guard down and then Piccolo fired his mouth cannon ki blast and put a hole in Goku's torso. After it Piccolo just like Frieza stepped on his wound making him suffer.
I realized the same thing. One other thing is they switched what side Goku was shot on to make it even more similar. In the movie, Goku was shot on the opposite side. But here, he's shot on the same side Piccolo shot him.

Everybody complains about laser being able to hurt Goku, but i have a different problem. Remember, how Goku still fought King Piccolo after a long fight and a giant hole in body while being millions if not billions times weaker than now? Yeah.
During the time of frieza saga in planet namek, vegeta asked krillin to shoot him with a powerblast and got hurt so that when dende heals him he can achieve new power as a saiyan to know even that time vegeta is way powerful than krillin even he was not yet a super saiyan but still got hurt by a blast from krillin so this explains and does make sense at all now
Well at the end of the day their skin is still just stat. Skin. And something made to pierce like a sword or a laser would easily cut them down if they dont have their guard up.
He also gets hurt by pabbles and humans slapping him. Also his white hair dye smoking monkey form was unable to dodge strikes and blasts from jiren lmao. And before Gokutards start crying again, imma clear out that white hair dye is supposed to make Goku react automatically to danger i.e. countering, pairing, dodging etc. But all he did was another scream + colour change + more scream + PIS.
Ki doesn't deflect lasers bullets rocks bulma etc. Ki doesn't do anything unless he makes it do it. Ki resistance is a thing. Goku trained his entire life understanding how to effectively use it. But beneath his body he is still made of saiyan flesh and blood. Which is what makes him bulletproof, not his ki.
Regardless of whether it was during or out of blue, Sorbet being able to defeat Goku with a simple laser ring proves that you don't need to be "Goku-level" to beat Goku. You can literally just be a grunt with a ring. Even Beerus and Whis whom the fandom take their words as fact whenever they describe anything about Goku admit that it's effective.

I don’t think this is such a ludicrous decision. We need reassurance that Goku isn’t just an untouchable God or else lord knows how dumb Goku’s future power will be. Goku lowered his guard. Ki makes him more durable as well as immense training. When Goku is shot by a bullet in Super, it bruises him. Dragonball is not an intelligently written piece of media. It often retcons or forgets how strong Goku even is because DBS isn’t a Death Battle. The writers don’t pile every little Goku feat and put it into consideration. If shooting Goku fit the story, it fit the story. Same happens to Superman or any powerful character that would normally be indestructible.
It’s been over 30 years of a continuous story, i think he should be able to be an untouchable god at this point. Considering since dbz they’ve had the power to casually destroy planets
When they lower their guard basically it means they don't use ki so their strength is lowered, although their bodies are still far stronger than a normal human being, but their skin is not impenetrable, Goku was always one step ahead of Vegeta because of Yardrat's training on spirit control, in majin buu saga at the world tournament he was strongest z fighter yet he scored the lowest points on the punching machine, in my opinion everything in manga till now makes sense if you think about it, but in show i agree, they change many things because they don't care about following the og logic of db, they just care about simple minded fans which are in majority and they bring the money in.
And this is why the Versus community bugs me. I'm supposed to believe Goku is weak for getting shot by a laser, but they'll gladly gloss over the fact that PIS happens all the time in media. Batman kicking Specter or stabbing Reverse Flash, Superman getting beat by Muhammad Ali, etc.

Explain to me how Goku (in either the movie or here) can take this shot and basically be on deaths door, but a MUCH weaker Goku can take a beam from Piccolo while off guard (during their world tournament fight) and somehow manage to still fight and defeat piccolo?
Vegeta needed to have action in the movie. Thats why it was planned goku will fall for a few seconds. People still think "dropping his guard" means dropping his power level down to 5. When Whis said that he made a point to hit Goku in the gut, his reflexes and awareness were being called into question, not his durability. that would have hurt no matter what his power level was.
Back in the original Dragon Ball anime, Bulma once emptied a whole machine gun at Goku who was a kid at the time & Goku was virtually unscathed!!! Goku was just a frickin' kid back than & hadn't yet been trained by the likes of Korin or King Kai, he hadn't yet learned Kaio-Ken or Ultra Instinct nor was he anywhere close to achieving Super Saiyin status back than yet he was totally impervious to any & all weapon-based attacks like guns and yet fast forward many many years later when he is not only all grown up but also in his peak ultimate fighting prime having mastered all kinds of different powerful techniques & powered-up stages giving him countless edges & advantages in battle and he suddenly develops a sudden weakness to firearms??? He was bulletproof as a little kid but no more once he grew up??? What kind of a crazy ass plot hole is this??? Although it makes alot more sense that goku got taken down in his base form than his ssjb form, its still bullshit. Look back at ssj goku vs frieza fight, frieza shoots a death beam at goku's face and it doesn't do shit to him but when goku in dbs gets shot by a laser gun, it actually hurts him. Now alot of people are going to say, well goku was in his base form here, well first of all, base goku in dbs is far stronger than namek ssj goku, and its ridiculous that namek ssj goku was able to tank frieza's death beam but dbs goku got hurt by a laser gun.
I think it boils down to concentration. When on Namek, Goku was focused on his battle, and his chi boosts all his abilities. When he's not concentrating, Goku can be hurt just like you or me. Examples: Cell saga, Krillin throws a rock at him while he isn't paying attention (while he is in SSJ napping) and it hurts him. Broly movie; Goku uses instant transmission to go to New Vegeta and upon arrival lands next to Krillin who is throwing a punch, and when it connects, because Goku isn't ready for it, it hurts him. Goku has incredible reflexes, so hurting him is quite difficult, but entirely possible when his guard is down. And honestly, it has always been a character flaw when he believes he is the strongest out there. Even back when he was fighting "Jackie Chun".

So Base Goku isn't even 40 times stronger roughly than Kid Goku...and no x10 boost from kai's planet... that planet was blown up, this was a completely different planet which never claimed x10 gravity
Your power level increasing x10 does not mean every single attribute of your body increases 10x. Reflexes, speed, and ki intensity are the main factors that increase.
The problem is you're confusing power levels with physical strength and durability. If Goku gets kicked into a mountain it still hurts. He will still shield himself from projectiles that aren't ki like bullets or rocks or flying debris from someone powering up because he can't simply tank them without pain. He is TRAINED to withstand ki, and his body is conditioned to withstand lava but much higher than that and he can potentially be cooked. LASERS on the other hand are thousands of times hotter than Lava
And then there are characters who are built to withstand such things, as their races are typically born with higher power levels. Frieza would have to have had a godly frame to withstand his infant power level. Broly is huge probably to compensate for his power level. Cell could tank bullets and artillery, he was literally designed with armored skin.

They are simply not that physically powerful, period. They are still made of flesh and blood and are trained to counter Ki, not lasers, rocks, bullets, etc. Ki is the driving force in everything they do.
Kid Goku could lift a car and bulma episode 1. When he beat Tao he was a moon buster, but still was effected by a sniper bullet to the face, literally said it hurt, and he was definitely "on guard". Then when fighting King Piccolo, he took physical attacks like a champ but then he breaks an arm and a leg with ROCKS. Rocks did just as much damage as a targeted Ki attack. Rocks > Moon Buster.
Goku in late dragon ball was carrying a few hundred kilos to train with, which slowed him significantly.
Goku after his first death trained on King Kai's planet and could barely move in x10 gravity. (it was better after he took his weighted clothes off, but still difficult)
Vegeta was defeated on Earth by an oozaru falling on top of him, he was weak but still an oozaru should have been nothing compared to actually getting hit and he still overpowered yajirobe and had enough ki to stop Gohan to begin with.
Goku then graduated to 100x gravity and his "official" weight is 137 pounds so he's about 13,700 pounds, or 6.85 tons.
Vegeta pre android saga was able to hit 500 times gravity, as 120 pounds was his "official" weight that was 60,000 pounds or 30 tons.
After dying Goku was seen training with 8 tons, but 40 tons became too much (He did have it on his arms and legs, so it would be a bit more difficult than just gravity training), he couldn't even stand that weight and had to go super saiyan just to use his limbs again, which enhances physical strength to make up for the ki overload. And no, there was no x10 gravity, nowhere did it mention that planet had x10 gravity, only King Kai's planet had that kind of gravity and it blew up. So by this point Vegeta was likely PHYSICALLY stronger than Goku, but Goku clearly held the power advantage.
Fast forward to the tournament of power SSJ Vegeta couldn't even lift Magetta who was only 1000 tons, sure this isn't his most powerful form but judging by the fact that Kid Goku could already lift a ton, and Vegeta capped out at 1000 at Super saiyan, how much more do you think he'd be able to lift in blue? Not much more, that's for sure.
But people want you to think these guys are invulnerable and can lift mountains or pull planets. They're just Ki resistant because ki is a part of their martial arts, and punches and kicks are infused with Ki. Lasers, rocks, and bullet are fair game unless said character has a greater physical resistance to damage. Like how Frieza had to be born with a more powerful body to withhold his ki, this is why he can survive planetary destruction, or how Cell has armored skin. Fat buu had none of those things and bullets actually did something, his power level wasn't relevant.
When Whis brought up his guard, he made it a point to punch Goku in the gut. Goku being in blue form wouldn't have negated the fact that that would have hurt, "Goku dropping his guard" is whis referring to the fact he has no situational awareness and was overconfident, not that the fact he let himself get squishy.

Ki and lasers are effectively different, you can't compare Frieza's death beam which has penetrative ki power, to that one dude's laser ring, lasers can be millions of degrees hot and we've seen goku tank lava, but lava is nothing compared to lasers.
So SSJ Vegeta in the TOP was barely 1000 times stronger than Kid Goku... and there was also a training period where Vegeta was training with lasers and he opted to use his armor in Super. The lasers very clearly affected him as well, thank god for the armor.
For the record, Frieza force also used blasters and their average power levels were in the low thousands, which meant they had blasters that could kill moon busters since they were stronger than Roshi... but you wouldn't be able to convince me those blasters could blow up the moon.
It all makes sense because their physical durability and strength has nothing to do with their power level, power level merely indicates how well you can handle ki, which punches and kicks are infused with, this is why getting kicked into a mountain still hurts, lasers burn through them, why they cover themselves when someone powers up, why they punch rocks and bullets instead of just tanking them, and why they have to use ki to escape being trapped in boulders. Transformations DO increase strength to some degree, this is why their muscles expand but with proper ki control they mitigate that because bigger muscles slow them down.
Gohan and Krillin were really going to just stand there and watch Goku get killed. Just stand there, mouths hanging open, not doing a thing. Thank good for Vegeta because everyone else is fucking useless. I guess that’s the fault of the writing though.
The smackdown that follows, with Vegeta trash talking Goku's moronic penchant for endangering the world he's protecting to allow villains to power up and give him a better fight (while mercilessly kicking the shit out of Frieza) is one of my favorite moments in the series.

That being said, Goku's minimum power level would probably be 10 and I highly doubt he dropped his power level beyond what his full base power was. He powered down from Super saiyan the first time he tried to fly away from Frieza on Namek, this is just people reaching for an excuse because they can't realize Goku simply isn't that durable to anything that isn't made of Ki. He shields himself from rocks and bullets for a reason, he can't tank them. And Frieza did try to kill him with Lava on Namek, he's supposedly immune to it now but lasers are thousands of times hotter than lava.
For reference, SSJ Vegeta in the tournament couldn't even lift Magetta (1000 tons, Kid goku in episode 1 could lift a car and Bulma and throw them, so physically SSJ vegeta isn't even 1000 times stronger than Kid Goku) , so they're not as strong or durable as they're made out to be. Physical strength does not increase in relation to your power level, otherwise they'd be benchpressing mountains at this point.

They slap away non-ki projectiles away for a reason, rocks, bullets, etc. Because that shit hurts and ki doesn't "autoprotect them" from it. When faced with Ki however the opponents ki has to overcome their own ki, if you try to punch Goku with ki he isn't even going to feel it if you're significantly weaker than him. But throw a rock hard enough and he's going to go out of his way to avoid or block it. Physically Goku is almost bulletproof regardless of poewr level, this is why getting slapped into a mountain still hurts him unless he's projecting himself via flight.
King Piccolo fought and beat on Kid Goku, no damage was done for the most part until he chose to blast a leg with ki, rendering it useless, he then literally broke two of goku's limbs with rocks, and Kid Goku was a moon buster at that point. Rocks > Moon buster.
This lore carried over, people just refuse to realize it and hide behind "his guard was down" which was Whis referencing his awareness and reflexes, not his power level. Goku wouldn't have tanked that blow no matter how high his power level was.

I don’t think this is such a ludicrous decision. We need reassurance that Goku isn’t just an untouchable God or else lord knows how dumb Goku’s future power will be. Goku lowered his guard. Ki makes him more durable as well as immense training. When Goku is shot by a bullet in Super, it bruises him. Dragonball is not an intelligently written piece of media. It often retcons or forgets how strong Goku even is because DBS isn’t a Death Battle. The writers don’t pile every little Goku feat and put it into consideration. If shooting Goku fit the story, it fit the story. Same happens to Superman or any powerful character that would normally be indestructible.
It’s been over 30 years of a continuous story, i think he should be able to be an untouchable god at this point. Considering since dbz they’ve had the power to casually destroy planets

Although it makes alot more sense that goku got taken down in his base form than his ssjb form, its still bullshit. Look back at ssj goku vs frieza fight, frieza shoots a death beam at goku's face and it doesn't do shit to him but when goku in dbs gets shot by a laser gun, it actually hurts him. Now alot of people are going to say, well goku was in his base form here, well first of all, base goku in dbs is far stronger than namek ssj goku, and its ridiculous that namek ssj goku was able to tank frieza's death beam but dbs goku got hurt by a laser gun.
I think it boils down to concentration. When on Namek, Goku was focused on his battle, and his chi boosts all his abilities. When he's not concentrating, Goku can be hurt just like you or me. Examples: Cell saga, Krillin throws a rock at him while he isn't paying attention (while he is in SSJ napping) and it hurts him. Broly movie; Goku uses instant transmission to go to New Vegeta and upon arrival lands next to Krillin who is throwing a punch, and when it connects, because Goku isn't ready for it, it hurts him. Goku has incredible reflexes, so hurting him is quite difficult, but entirely possible when his guard is down. And honestly, it has always been a character flaw when he believes he is the strongest out there. Even back when he was fighting "Jackie Chun".
