There are also people complaining about the complete lack of a German voiceover. The german version of coh 1 and 2 has full German voiceovers for all factions and all campaigns and the voiceovers were quite good as well, for example in coh 2 the British hq voice in the German version is done by the voiceactor who also does the German voiceover of captain price in the call of duty games. Coh 3 has no German voiceover whatsoever.
I have to agree though with that the voice overs for CoH 1 and 2 were better. For all factions. There was a number of negative reviews on steam just for the voice overs of the game for CoH3.
There's no Italian faction in a game which focuses on the Italian campaign.... but there is a shop build into the game.... It just reeks of a DLC hell to come.
Technically, Itally had thrown in the towel by the time the Italian mainland was invaded. They absolutely should be a part of battles in North Africa, though. The bulk of "Panzerarmee Afrika" was Italian, after all.
@@starcoloneldunadansonoft501 They were kind of lackeys to the Germans in real life though. There wasn't any illusion about which nation was in a stronger position in the war.
The most egregious bug I have found, was spawning into a MP game as one faction, but receiving another faction's battle groups essentially boning me from any of those bonuses.
It’s weird because Relic had AoE4 to polish some of these complaints before releasing CoH3. We (AoE players) complained about the awfully close zoom, the washed out graphics with no contrast, the seemingly past-gen effects, the uninspired UI. It’s so baffling to see exactly the same issues popping up here now. It’s like they took absolutely no learnings from AoE. That’s to me the worst of it all. The game may be relatively good, but not to the standards long time CoH players expected. There is definitely a systemic problem at Relic and maybe the Essence engine is too old now and in need of a replacement. It smells a lot like a Fallout 76 situation and we all know how that went down.
That’s because these are game developers who believe they know what’s best for the game, and if we, the consumer don’t like it, we should play something else. They can’t be wrong. That’s the problem with a lot of developers anymore. They are only focused on two things, the most possible initial sales (making games extremely casual) and themselves. No one hated the idea of AoEIV but they took no advice from their playerbase. CoH3 is being built for Console aswell so it’s inherently built for casuals and that’s the goal. Screw the tactics we original fans want to see, and screw graphical upgrades we’ve been waiting two games for… we have to make room for console losers.
you also can't save matches to play later, save match stats(atleast custom matches), save replays and no timeline scrubber for replays (no way to skip or go back to a point in the replay without watching the entire thing again)
@@Rhinopotamus While I entirely agree with what you said about developers and it makes no sense that this game is being released on consoles. I just don't understand the weird superiority complex you have against console players.
@@MarlboroFed because a lot of people forgot that "PC Master Race" was originally an insult Yahtzee created and now wear it as a badge of honor, they think they're the real capital G "Gamers" and therefore better cause they play on pc (even though most people don't give a shit and play on what they prefer without making a big deal about it), and because it's going to be on console it's automatically going to be dumbed down cause to people with this mindset only "casuals" (Whatever that word even means anymore) play on consoles, you know if you ignore the fact that strategy games have been on console since at least the ps1.
It always depends on your expectations, I guess. I can understand the disappointment after 10 years for a 60€ game, CoH3 feels unambitious and unimaginative. And CoH2 with all it's content is there and won't go away, so Relic has to give the player a motivation to play this new game.
Kinda wild to have high expectations for things without looking at how they were introduced in the past. I don't understand how gamers have high expectations of CoH3 when if you look at the launch of the other games, they were also pretty bare at the start. Its like it takes time for games to iterate based on their new player base or something
@@imperatornoinga3646 lmao the same game. That's not the same framework at all. Literally have Total War mechanics in a game that isn't meant to have them. And they have more mechanics than either game. It's like gamers don't know how games are made, oh wait they don't.
It's not only vehicle explosions. It's also the impact explosions of artillery, mortars and howitzers. Also i noticed the ragdoll effects seem not to be present or atleast not in a satisfying interpretation. Place a bomb (satchel charge or a goliath) beside 2-3 squads of riflemen in coh2 and in coh3. The Destruction is WAY more satisfying in coh2. All in all. My biggest complaint is the lack of love for detail. I think many new players who came to the company of heroes franchise can't see the differences in detail as how the community does, because lack of knowledge/experience.
agree completely, how can it be a side hit on a vehicle and they just not move at all, or when you shoot at an AT gun is like nothing, that attention to detail in COH2 is actually what kept me there playing, seeing this is just being reminded at each step that is not as good as the other one. The shots on the mortar come out at whatever angle, just sad
I'm new to the CoH franchise and i'm loving the game - but i can see what veterans of the series are talking about after watching some comparison videos. I personally dont mind the lack of details but if that's what people have associated the franchise with then it should still be adressed by Relic.
I half wonder if the less impressive explosions are for the benefit of competitive play/esports. In COH2 when it got busy (especially in team games) it could be difficult to see what was happening behind all the smoke, which looks great but is frustrating when you're trying to micro.
@@airborne_arachnid i think IF there is a reason why they put less effort in these things, it’s because because of the console launch. Console systems have less performance than the average PC player. To maintain a smooth performance experience for the casual players.
This is a mobile version compared to coh1-2, dumbed down for consoles. - Victory points are very fast No profiles page to see stats or match history present. No ability to view leaderboards in-game. No ranked matchmaking in multiplayer. Fallschirmjagers missing 3D models. Missing surrender option. No inventory system - you cannot change the badge, banner, title, basically anything related to your ingame profile personalization. Only 3 Battlegroups per faction (same amount as in beta). As a result, there are units currently in the game that are unable to be accessed in multiplayer due to there not being a battlegroup made for them. Only 2 4v4 MP maps (same amount as in beta). Only 3 3v3 MP maps (same amount as in beta). No earning of credits after games, meaning no way for us to earn said free credits to later buy things in the in-game store like in COH2. Untitled Italian unit with Adrian helmet seen in Relic's official COH3 screenshots is nowhere to be seen in the game. Unable to queue capture orders on the tactical map. No way to view the map at the end of the game. No chat room server support. After the game ends, there is no way to chat with your opponents or teammates. No ability to name your multiplayer game. No background sounds of birds chirping, faded gunfire in the distance, etc that was present in previous entries to give off that 'COH vibe'. No player names showing over units when hovered over them. No player list in-game in multiplayer (can't tell if human teammate got replaced by AI) No leaderboards for pre-made teams. No crushing infantry with heavy vehicles. Not being able to ram tanks into buildings to create holes anymore (building destruction physics). Unit statistics not viewable in game, nor what their advantages are. Not being able to rebind modifier keys like Shift, Alt, and Tab. For example, this makes this a no-buy for some who are left-handed and don’t use a traditional hand placement on a keyboard. No scroll speed setting (edge panning speed) for those who don't use WASD or arrows as default. Cannot multi-select control groups with Shift + Numbers, instead it assigns multiple control groups to individual units. No ability to click on a dropped lmg or anti tank weapon to see exactly what kind of weapon it is. 'Temporary' main menu UI from beta still remaining in full release. Tiny soundtrack compared to previous COH games. No ability to have the camera follow a unit you double clicked on (either the unit or it portrait). This was present in COH1/2. No Bulletin system. No Observer mode. Unable to see crew weapons built in post-match stats screen. No replays (although a workaround is available). Unable to invite friends from Steam, directly from the steam UI and steam overlay. Disappointing state of modding tools. Many possibilities were promised by Relic pre-launch in terms of modding, but it seems that turned out to be false and in reality the options are very limited. Only English language voice tracks. Bugs: Devil's Brigade DLC not unlocking for the launch edition of the game for everyone. Global Unit Control Position keeps resetting itself after each game. AI failing to attack you in campaign unless scripted. Custom game server browser broken. For example, you can only see 9 games, no sorting, no searching, no paging of the list. The top 9 games are usually never launched with an AFK host. Instances where crew served weapons (for example, a US MG Squad and a mortar squad) both got "stuck" in a green covered position (which they were not really stuck or surrounded since it was open behind them) after pressing retreat. 254 Recon Tractor has the ability to call in free offmap mortars, at vet 1 it gains the ability to lock and have an improved barrage overwriting the default one. US Airborne troops infinite spawn glitch. Capture point bug. For example, the enemy did not loose tickets. We had 400, they had 39. We still held one, but we tickled down until we lost. Pings have several seconds of sound delay. Base building flashing between textures when anti-aliasing is set to high. Some portraits or icons may appear lower resolution or not scaling correctly to the user interface. Infantry units having their 'engines be broken'. Flickering walls bug. Sound and graphics begin to stutter after certain amount of playtime. Restarting the game fixes. Airborne models reload their carbines like they are a bolt action. Some team weapons have their animation speed ramped up way too fast. Example, the Brit heavy mortar. The Behind Enemy Lines ability for the US Airborne does not function as intended. When capturing a team weapon, your units adopt previous owner/faction voice lines. One of the US At gun voice lines is completely bugged, the voice sounds like a squeaky robot. Howitzers do not angle their guns correctly when firing. They do not match the angle of the shells leaving the cannon. Some units get stuck when exiting a building depending on surrounding geometry. Sometimes abilities will overlap existing abilities instead of moving to an empty square in the HUD. This often occurs when upgrading units or unlocking new Veterancy abilities. Not being able to click on top of the big notifications. Unable to save skirmish settings. Icons don’t show when an ability is in use. The only shown the cooldown after the ability end. For example, when I order an mortar to barrage a target out of its range i can’t tell if walked up to the fitting range and started barraging from its icon. Sometimes cast ability’s are ignored. For example, like when a tank isn’t in range and I cast a Panzerschrank the grenadiers just ignore the order and keep walking somewhere else. Unit icons inside buildings being off screen unless you can see the whole building, causing you to get suppressed without knowing from where its coming. No autosave in campaign. After match stats are hilariously broken and inaccurate. Minimap has no indicator of which specific unit is selected if you are tabbing through several. When using "walking stuka" is a circle, which doesn't fit the barrage itself which is instead an oval like shape. Ultra texture option is locked out for no reason (although a workaround is available). Pathfinding for vehicles is terrible. Friends who are online and in-game don’t show up as online or inviteable many times. Reticle/marker: when you send/direct multiple units to a spot shows only arrow, not the dots+arrow representing each group in the selection. Things currently in COH3 needing improvement: In-game visuals look too washed out/bland, require better lightning/contrast. As such, soldiers also tend to blend with the ground, sometimes not being able to instantly see where the model is standing. Wonky, at times brain dead in-game AI. Pings are still barely noticeable. COH2 it was too loud and spammy, now it makes barely any sound and hard / impossible to find. Tank explosions need work. For example, an exploding tank will only become static and give off a tame explosion VFX, unlike in COH2 where it would physically shake, create larger more dynamic explosion, and you would see parts and bodies flying off. Poor sound mixing. Extremely muffled and needs revamp. When upgrading some units, such as pios with flamethrower, can’t see a countdown for how long until they’re upgraded. Zoom level adjustments needed. Twitchy camera. Camera movement with the WASD keys seems a little 'jumpy'. Poor response of units when clicking on team weapons and weapons on the ground. Small unit icons. Need to be bigger, they are even smaller than COH2. Some of the unit icons need work. For example, the US M3 75mm halftrack still has the CoH2 Soviet SU-76 silhouette. Clicking on a unit should tell you how many kills it has without having to hover over a certain spot on the UI. Unique team colours needs fixing. For example, sometimes you can be playing as orange, and a red axis tank will be in the middle of your troops without knowing. - The lack of music. Seriously it’s just the main menu theme and one ingame soundtrack. Where the hell is the rest? Previous CoH titles had multiple tracks and even themes for each faction. - The jump scare endgame scene where you’re taken straight out of the match and can’t view the battelfield. - The end game statistics are a complete joke and make no sense too. - Once you’ve done a custom game you’re forced to reinvite everyone back to the lobby. - The pings on the mini map from you or allies are hard to hear and even harder to see! No difference in the pings themselves. All they had to do here was just copy the same system from CoH1. - The kill counters are hard to find on units now. You’ve got to hover over the experience bar. Makes it hard for viewers to tell at a glance. Just makes no sense. - Missing audio cues for grenades being lobbed (specifically satchel charges) - Units getting stuck after exiting certain houses. - No ingame leaderboards - No proper social system ingame to chat with the rest of the community - No option to rejoin after disconnecting (it’s 2023 we should have this option now…) - No observer mode - No proper replay system - No depth to ingame tips and guides/ build orders - The tactical map is a mess with unit cards covering other unit cards - Machineguns in buildings missing their face direction button. - Random input delay during matches making it unplayable at times.
Graphics isn't bad, the art direction is abysmal. Those are kinda same, but paradoxically, very different things. 3D models are essentially quite binary things - something has the shape of a real thing or it does not. It's hard to get wrong. But It's the artist that takes those real life objects, and uses color and contrast to turn them into flowing river of visual experience. And in a real-time strategy game, there's another layer of actually packaging it as separate bunches of information - the units, the map, the chokepoints, etc. It's an art. Modelling a Sherman tank is not art, even if it takes a lot of skill. It's still just matter of moving vertices of polygons until right surfaces form. CoH1 did it perfectly - and it looked way more subdued and "washed out". People just don't remember. But the end result looked gorgeous, fed just the right kind of information to player, and glued everything together into epic battle scenes. And that, people DO remember. CoH1 looked actually better than CoH2, artistry wise, even despite having half the polygons for models. Not so much here, it feels like they went with decent modelers, but forgot to hire an art director. Tanks have the shape of tanks and soldiers have heads and fingers and maps have houses and bushes and explosions have fire and smoke. But there's no (visual) cohesion at all.
They didn't forget the talent all left long ago and formed BBI blackbird interactive they are making homeworld 3 which is why Dow 3 and age 4 and now coh 3 art all sucks this is not the same devs relic died long ago!
They had the same problem with AoE4. That game looks sterile as fuck and they presented everything like this kids' storybook tale instead of the gruesome battles that were being depicted (especially the Russian campaign with getting raided by Mongols). Relatively speaking, this is actually a massive improvement over the total lack of art direction in AoE4, which is kinda sad.
I know I'm late but I gotta say I completely agree with this. This, along with tye really bad voice acting turned me off this game. The worst thing is that the game has lackluster mod support. Right now, you can just load a mod for CoH one and play a more diverse, balanced and good looking version of this game, for a fraction of the price. All they needed was to introduce a couple of quality of life changes, update the engine and introduce the Italians to have a great game.
I think with the graphics there is a huge style pivot from COH2, with COH3 being more vibrant and "cartoony". Also it seems like COH3 is missing some shading especially with foliage.
"From the people that brought you Dawn Of War 3"... 3 - Oh oh. Now in a Relic throwback we'll have to cross our fingers that Homeworld 3 won't suck when it finally releases.
@@Menleah imagine a dawn of war game on the scale of planet annihilation or Suprem commander 2 with infinite unit , being able to bring the bigger shit (cuz dawn of war 1 is dated now )
9:17 Seeing shit like this reminds me why I could never get into any vanilla CoH and always preferred the Blitzkrieg Mod for CoH 1. These folks take way too long to kill each other while literally ontop of each other. Castrated damage has been an issue for me since CoH 2 came out and it seems part 3 continues that tradition.
It's the same for me, the damage models in Blitzkrieg feel just way better for everything, not just infantry combat. And i like the focus trees much better, it gives more variety to the game.
My issues are -Placeholders still in the game showing it’s not done, like the portrait for a DAK commander is just UK Indian artillery commander and “Insert Text Here” and many icons are just from Company of Heroes 2 which is obvious since it has a different art direction. -Terrible AI, both in skirmish and campaigns. -The plethora of bugs like tanks taking rear damage when getting hit in the front and infinite spawning units. -Balance is terrible with Boys AT for UK being OP, DAK being OP, Flamethrowers OP and Wehrmacht building bunkers and AA positions all over the map. -The store is a huge red flag since they are gonna sell Commanders again and in COH2 it’s was pay to win till 2020 (came out in 2013) when they updated the standard commanders. -Lack of maps for VS. -Art direction lacking the grit of WW2 games that’s was done perfectly fine in COH and COH2. -Sound from weapons, vehicles and units are just bad. -Commanders/ units taken out of the game like Vichy French, Nashorn, German Officer, Canadians, Australians, Lefh 18 and more to be sold as DLC. -Lack of rewards. No rewards for completing any campaign or playing VS, in COH 2 you could get intel bulletins for getting achievements or get points to get tank skins and Ardennes Offensive rewarded Skins and bulletins for completing the game with certain commanders and the original COH you could unlock the Tiger from the Tiger missions that changed the skin of the tiger and voice lines. -They removed features that we begged for them to keep during the Beta like seeing inventory slots on units to see what was equipped and if they had more room and never listens to us when we complained about the lack of camera zoom
For me, the only real issue have been the zoom levels (I want them waaaay further out), some weird softlocks in the early italy campaigns you can do, and the weird audio cutoff on a lot of gunshots, otherwise It's been really enjoyable and one of my surprise hits for this year. I really wasn't expecting much after the DOW3 fiasco, but as someone who skipped COH2 mostly since I'm not into the competitive side of the game, COH3 is probably gonna finally replace COH1 as my go to rts.
CoH2 was lit too, but I feel they tried to make the game too big so it appeals to Esports, which lost the CoH1 strategic feeling, but then again the eastern front was basically just throwing people with no thoughts at the enemy after a little while. CoH1 has more micromanagement and CoH3 reverted back to that, which is awesome, the small issues that are left for CoH3 are just small bugs and such that don't stop you from actually playing the game and enjoying it, though I think they could have had more diversity in skills
COH1 and COH3 share zoom levels though. COH2 is more zoomed in actually. I think the issue people are experiencing is the use of verticality and height in buildings. This was also demoed elsewhere by showing the height of infantry units in MP start positions and in battles.
The thing you need to keep in acount zade, is that company of heroes 2 is a great game, so when the developer releases a new game poeple expect improvements. so if you never played coh2 then yes coh3 is a great game. but the fans of coh2 expect something more
Lol the words of a person who never had to play coh2 pre- American expansion, because that my friend was a true shit show. Bet you didn’t even know they tried a free to play model as well with boosts that you can pay real money for. Overall, this is the most complete release for company of heros to date
@@Hunter_6601 when did the boost thing come? I've been playing on and off since launch, never saw that. Was it after American DLC when the game was semi dying and recieved the overhaul to the card system/drops. (My timeline is fucked since the game is so old, so I could be completely off on if that was after the AA Dlc)
@@Hunter_6601 What does that have to do with anything? If coh2 sucked at launch, that's not an excuse for coh3 to suck as well. Coh3 on launch needs to be compared to everything that exists right now, that means an up to date coh2.
As someone who has played coh2 lot, i just dont see what this game has to offer. Ironically this is also a criticism coh2 received initially over coh1, however the game was improved alot over the years. Right now im struggling to see what coh3 does "better" than coh2 but maybe that'll change a few years down the line.
I agree, until CoH 3 gets the content it needs to stand out over 2, I'd rather just enjoy CoH 2. To think, instead of playing this game, I played 2 with some friends to celebrate the game hitting 10 years. I'll admit, I started with 2 and then played 1, so I don't know how either were like at launch. That's why I'm keeping an open mind about 3. Hope they make it good.
Honestly, CoH2's launch was enraging. They released a full priced game, then when you play multiplayer you have to unlock the commanders (same as battlegroups in 3). New call-in units and abilities are locked behind these commanders. You can pay to unlock these early or grind mobile game tier hours to unlock them. I keep hearing that the game was improved after that, but I just stopped playing after a couple of online matches because I did not want to grind a million hours for the commanders, so they lost me.
This is my exact issue: Why play CoH3 if you can play 2 or 1 and both are much better games with years of content and polish while presenting basicaly nigh identical content. Currently whenever I play CoH3 I do it for a single round and then have enough because I already feel bored simply because I've spent hundreds of hours in much more polished games which were near identical to this one. I really hoped they'd at least change the setting to some other 20th century conflict (Korea, Nam, Gulf War come to mind) so *at least the units will be different*.
I don't understand why they didn't take the Blitzkrieg mod from CoH1 as an example. It graphics were (and still are) amazing, even compared with CoH2 (and now CoH3). It has a way more realistic feel to it. And the unites were amazing. The tanks actually felt like tanks and looked like it. I miss that with most RTS games, besides CoH, where it also keeps the colors of the units out of it. These colors and graphics make RTS games very cartoon-like, unfortunately.
One my main problems with the game is how many cool features that were in coh2 just weren't carried over, just loads and loads and loads of tiny details that add up to make the game feel annoying to play. However I'm still having fun its just sad to see how they could of made the game so much better but just didn't.
Honestly, I really didn't enjoy CoH2 for some reason. It was s big let down for me. Yes, I've played the whole campaign (obviously), but it just didn't click with me, especially multiplayer. It felt like there is only 1 single meta build to play, and that was it. CoH3 feel like I have finally many valid options how to branch out and I'm not trolling when playing various builds...:)
@@milansvancara Glad somebody said it that is COH2 in a nutshell but that is the problem this games real problem is the existence of COH2, lets no forget that COH2's was way worse on release you can't compare a fully finished game with a newly released game. Now if someone want to compare release COH2 with release COH3 then I'm listening.
I'll pass on Company of Heroes 3. Mostly because money's a bit tight, and I already backed Ratten Reich, which looks like it might scratch a similar itch when it eventually comes out.
for me it’s simple. they base so much of the game on Italy but they get sideline shafted into the DAK in the MP. it’s a downright insult. For the longest time since the original teasers i’ve been excited and hoping for a full proper Italian Faction ever since CoH2, and the one, single, fucking, thing i wanted to see gets completely disregarded by the devs and tossed as supports into the germans.
Few Things: - Balanced issues, many.. it being adressed by developers. - Devil´s Brigade decal (small icon in units) player´s battle tag cannot be changed. - Superposition of units in same spot, as example two riflemen units occypying same spot. - Multiplayer Player name cannot be visualized in the unit, so you cannot know wich player is whom. - Unique colours are a mess, instead of using calssical blue, yellow, cian for allied and red, purple for enemiees, now anyone could be any colour, generating a cognitive disorder in game, mostly in minimap.
As someone who gave it a bad review here is what I have to say 1: bugs 2: graphics 3: lazy reuse of mission objectives 4: lazy reuse of Maps 5: lack of variation and reuse of voicelines 6:gui errors 7: gui is terrible 8: felt like a beta for the console version 9: sound 10: Total War mode was not needed 11: allied generals involved in campaign are cliche ripoffs of monty and patton 12: extremely low pop cap
I think the most important question is "is this game really better than coh 2?". If our expectations are really like new games should be just remakes of old games so we can get online servers working and I'm ready to pay 60 dollars to play on matchmaking again, i think we have a problem .
Honestly, yeah, it's buggy, they haven't fixed a decent chunk of COH2's problems like vehicle pathing, the campaign could have been better, but the multiplayer once it gets balanced will be better than COH2 by far. They really cleaned up the pacing of matches, made MG spamming less of a dominant tactic, added this really unique light vehicle focus that makes the war feel mechanized in a way it wasn't before, and each faction is excellently designed from both a tech tree perspective as well as their doctrines, which are blessedly no longer linear paths with no choices to be made. The graphics are fine, could be a lot better, but at least the game runs at a stable framerate and in 50 hours at least I haven't had any crashes yet
Exactly, the multiplayer feels really good. I feel like I have finally more valid options instead of a single meta build for every single match like it was in previous CoHs, especially CoH2. The pacing, countering snowballing and adjustment of playstyle according to situation just works here.
I think they understand that a lot of RTS players will be older with older hardware, that is what stopped me playing battlefield the constant push towards higher system specs because the community demands it.
I wouldn't say they're excellently designed. Axis (especially Wehrmacht) dominates the current meta. It is nearly impossible to deal with Panzer spam if you go into late game as Allies. 17 pounder is shit, it's way too easy for vehicles to just soak a hit and outmaneuver AT guns. They need to allow AT guns to do engine damage. Currently the only things that seem to do that are mines and AT grenades from infantry. Queue times are noticeably shorter if you pick Allies because everyone wants to play the easy strong factions.
i think the main issue here is on your part: - your comment about the campaign: its a bit weaker than the previous games, but still ok. But that's not ok. It's a sequel, it's supposed to be an upgrade or at least on the same level. Same with sounds, visuals, gameplay and content. But in all respects it seems to be barely 70 or 80% of the quality of its predecessors. Would you pay money for a new car, that is ALMOST as good, but still worse in all aspects than the one you already own and could use instead? I sure as hell wouldn't. And about your review's like to dislike ratio: pretty sure that's from people who don't own the game, and just "liked" the sound of what you had to say about the game, rather than having played it and purely agreeing with your view.
The problem is that CoH3 is in many points worse than its predecessors. There are a number of things, that are often mentioned, such as the bad menu or UI, which looks as it would be 17+ years old, even CoH1 did it better, reused icons and there are also a lot of missing features, which were part of previous games, simple things like missing playernames, confusing post game statistics or teamcolours, missing ladders or ranks, badges or achievments, player aren't able to select difficulties when searching for co-op games, the sound mixing and the sound effects are often weird and muffeld, pathfinding, AI, damage, blobs, nerfs and buffs (=bad balance in general), audio is only in english and not always very good either, bug and many many more. Everyone who wants to know why CoH3 has so many bad reviews, just read through the threats on the official forum for CoH3. In fact, CoH3 did so many things wrong, which the previous games did rigth, so it is not understandable why it doesn't work in CoH3.
The main problem with CoH3 is that besides a couple new units, we're paying full price for a game which is still mostly just reskinned CoH2, but with worse balance and mediocre audio. Oh and they decided to change up all the UI and keybinds just to fuck with people's micro (imagine not having customisable keybinds in 2023!). It doesn't bring anything new to the franchise besides some minor improvements like side armour and terrain blocking LOS.
why do people hate it? because they listened to the casuals to appeal to the " wider audience" instead of listening to the people who actually stuck around playing regularly in COH2
I feel like Company of Heroes 3 follows the trend of releasing unfinished and unpolished games. Later on, they added a shop which gave me a bad impression. It felt like paying a game at full price and than asking for more money.
As someone who didn't play much of CoH 1 or 2, I'm really enjoying it. Fun campaign, tight gameplay, lot's of WW2 history to gush over etc. It's interesting playing this as a relative noob to CoH, as I'm not seeing any of the issues series vets are talking about.
Yes for people that never played COH is a fun game but for us veterans is a broken game, coh3 game play is still better than any other generic RTS out there but is not superior to coh1-2
@@diego2817 Not yet and it will be . and people have to stop comparing to DOW3 . if they balance the game more out and patches keep coming this game will be the greatest . the only thing im complaining about is that the price is too steep for how the state of the game is . but this game will start flourish even more if the problems get patched out or balanced out . i was sceptical with the reviews but as a avid coh2 fan i bought it and yh its def 30 or 40 euro worth but for the rest its damn fun and yh the explosions need to be more heavy , but so far no crashes for me a smooth experience . audio hasnt been a problem neither so idk .
COH vet here... after the patch 1. Bugs: There is a lot of em present, mostly units getting stuck on things or things refusing to build when double-clicked 2. Graphics: They are not bad, just excepted more 3. Sound: It's still not great, it's good but not great, voice lines are lazy and there is very few of them, I personally expected native voices toggles like in some rts games but it was never a coh feature u had to download in the language u wanted. 4. Content: Personally it is way to little content, they preached and hyped it but everyone is playing multiplayer even the singleplayer guys since if u did a few skirmishes and did the campaign once that is it, and the AI in skirmish is broken and just bad. 5. Missing content: To tie into the 4th... there are obvious placeholder units and menus such as the shop but others too, just empty boxses... Closure game is still in alpha and it needs at least 2 more years before it can be called finished.
I'm sure there are some valid criticisms, but honestly this seems like another example of how toxic online discourse has become in the last few years. People love complaining about everything, whether it be games, movies, shows, people, etc., and again, valid criticism is fine, but so many people have made hating things their whole personality lately. Warcraft 3 Reforged this ain't, haha.
Lol what? Is ok if ignore it but this game is a early access charging 60$, do you know that single player campaign is broken? Do you know that some icons are copy fromm coh2, have you seen plane animations? Have you see the horrible UI? The tanks don't even sound in IDLe is a broken game, not worth 60$ may be in 1 year
When you have that nice mix of dishonest devs, predatory micro transactions, unfinished live service games with content locked behind preorders, it's no wonder why toxic online discourse is the norm. They deserve it tbh. Feel like the critique towards this game is fair considering its the third in the series and they've had 10 years to make it.
The issue for me. The game works it is fun, but there's not a lot of maps, UI sucks, same / similar factions, and only 3 commander types per faction. The single player is a cool idea and it'd be cool if we could do that in multiplayer. Sure all of the issues above + sound and graphics can be fixed but they should have fixed them before release. Do I hate the game? No but it does annoy me.
With graphic fidelity like DS remake, you cant blaming gamers for not expecting more. HDR? More verticality? This game look at best a subsequent year release from COH2.
Lots of bugs but I really enjoy the game as a whole. Fatal scan error occured when I took Barri and chose focus on front lines over focus on munitions. I think this happened because I used a bombing run and accidentally wiped my teammates only company off the map while destroying the enemy company in the same turn as capturing Barri. Then I broke the winter line early and got the credits so I reloaded with resume and it took me to after I broke the winter line and the game is now having a ton of issues. I know the game is messed when save is greyed out. Always freezing when I end my turn or fights can only auto resolve or freeze when you start the battle
It might not be bad, but it isn't great and we did have better. I mean 2 is better, and while 3 might have statistically better graphics, it doesn't look that way thanks to the art design. At least it isn't Blood Bowl 3.
That is very sad. Thought indeed. I'm sorry that you think this way, but it is true and it's sad that it's true. We'd really do need to set the bar higher for these people that need to keep their lights on but we'll say and do anything to sell their absurdly overly priced games. So don't buy them ever. Until they make an apology and label their game early access, I will not be buying this game.
I overall enjoy the game. The core gameplay is fun. My big complaint are UI issues. There are no replays (without substandard workarounds), no spectator mode, and I can't even tell whose units are who in multiplayer. No player names show up, just color. Building parties and chat is also painful as all the notifications, invites, menus are crammed in the same corner. These are pretty basic things that were solved in RTS's over 30 years ago but not implemented in a 2023 release. They are all supposedly planned for implementation later, but it saddens me that basic and potentially core gameplay features are no longer present when games release.
End game score: (Team 1: damage dealt 100k) (Team2: damage taken 12k) I killed about 10 squads of infantry "Infantry killed: 2" This game was not a passion project it was fucking outsourced to all sorts of different teams and glued together in desperation. I want my money back but I've played more than 2 hours. Morons.
The reverse button was literally missing on one of my vehicles the other day. It finally reappeared after selecting it multiple times. I then sent it back to base where an incoming vehicle got stuck on it, requiring me to waste precious seconds unsticking them while my infantry got wasted on the front line. I promptly quit after that. That was a week ago. I have not played since.
In my opinion, COH1 is still superior in graphics, animations, gameplay, map design, general artwork etc. - It just feels right. COH3 feels like it was done in a rush, theres no love in the detail, super mediocre maps etc., everything is worse compared to part one, which is now how many years old ?
It could be better and I hope it improves. But I had fun with the Italy campaign. I really enjoy the feeling of building up your companies. Some of the upgrades are incredible powerful and really make you feel like you've grown stronger.
I think the biggest problem with the game for most fans is the price tag of £50, for a game that feels to many is just meh-okay nothing special. The game is also lacking quite a few serious things for it's own setting: No main Italian faction, AI needs more work, limited maps, the game visuals and colours' looked a bit washed out and could do with refinement, nothing wrong with the bright colourful world itself, but it could do with being less "blurry". The game has a good basis and premise, gameplay it seems many people do actually enjoy and support minus a few needed tweaks here and there and rebalancing. But the issue is that it feels for the moment overpriced and needed a bit more time to stew in development before being released. If Relic keep supporting the game and fixing the issues fans have, the game could have a long term bright future. But Relic need to dig deep and keep the support going and not bolt and abandon the game like they did with DAW3.
Ironically I know a friend who played the Beta and has a few thousand hours in CoH2 who's trying out the game so he and his mates can make the decision to buy the game when it comes out on sale. His gripes were mostly the controls. (They felt laggy and somewhat unresponsive, could be hardware) Sounds and bugs (which he admitted were annoying but patchable, it's much better than it was during the open beta but even then it was passable given how early it is.) I saw his flak 36 freak out and whiplash when being towed on stream and that was amusing. His biggest complaint was actually how the game frame locks him to 30FPS so he can't run the game in different settings to properly test it out. Just some observations second hand really. I don't play CoH style RTS. Hopefully the players will be satisfied with the games state eventually.
Well i play at uncapped FPS and my friends also play withouth no problems . noone is locked at 30fps so idk what kind of setup your friend has. for us atleast everything is smooth as butter i havent crashed and i saw 1 bug some units that where stuck after breaching , and im already 17 hours in only multiplayer tho dont know about singleplayer. this game still needs alot of work so the only thing i understand is that people are angry for the high price for a incomplete game and i agree . but the game is fun once the balance changes and problems get adressed and patched . as a coh2 player i approve this game just not the price for the state it is in now .
First few games a friend streamed me: _ pixelated German flag. _ transport truck without sound nor animations. _ corpses with Parkinson stuck in walls. _ too low dezoom that makes the camera hit the roof of the cathedral in the campaign mission. _ infantry throw a grenade on the side of a wall, explosion inside the building from all windows. _ scout plane going through tall buildings, Going around in a tight circle. _ a whole side of the map with flickering light on all buildings on one map. _ tanks missing their barrels when seeing them inside the fog of war. It feels like the game isn't finished. That said, sound design is meh. Smoke effect are bizarre. Explosion effect are the worst of all 3 games. Infantry animation are kinda static when engaging a fight. It honestly feels like a downgraded Coh 1 but with better light and texture. With a bonus gun towing feature. Maybe it is not a bad game, even if unfinished. But it doesn't have what it takes to replace the previous ones.
Give us JAPANA, ITALIAN FASCHISTS, YUGOSLAVIAN PARTISANS mofos, ofc with standard USA, Brits and Oberkomando / Whermacht but I think those factions should have been in style of general or doctrine pick and should have been given the same option to all factions for picking different army in battle.
Glad to see someone doing this! I can't complain, I enjoy it and while having a few softlock bugs in the Italy campaign, I did my part and reported it. I find the new infantry animations are a neat detail and the fact vehicles might now cook off when destroyed and roll before coming to a stop, looks way more realistic than exploding into a pre made wreck. Just dislike the lack of german voices, it makes me cringe when hearing the german units, plus with the accent, its hard to understand them at times
I jut don’t like how bright and colorful everything is, and how the vehicles look like toys. I’ll stay with COH2, Steel Division 2, and Gates of Hell: Ostfront
The old relic that made coh1&2 and dow 1&2 are long gone. It’s past time, and those in their place don’t have the same vision or philosophy. Shame. Relic were amazing in their prime
People hate it because when you make a sequel and have 10 years to work on it people expect massive improvements, design changes, evolution, bigger scale, better graphics, polish and building off prior games. COH3 has almost none of that stuff, even if it’s technically a decent game. Whenever I play it I just have a desire to play COH2.
People are stupid 'waaah why doesn't the game released yesterday have as much content as the nearly decade old one despite having at least twice as much content than it at launch'
my biggest complaint about the game is the appalling lack of an Italian faction in a game focused on the war in north Africa and Italy itself! it's incredibly disappointing to have a game like this where the only playable axis factions are Germany and Germany 2(TM).
Imo it's a fine game just not a 60$ one. Yeah it'll need some ironing before it becomes enjoyable for most people but I found myself surprisingly liking most of the new stuff (auto vault, auto reinforce etc) heck even the 'tactical pause' which I like to call the 'I can't micro button' is really useful if you want to chill.
The most consistent bug and by far the most annoying bug I've encountered is that for some reason, the Indian arty placements become unable to fire. You'll select a position for them to fire on, and then they'll raise the gun but then nothing happens, rendering that gun position completely useless for the rest of the game and taking up precious pop.
The lack of a delete key for the units is infuriating. You're forced to suicide your unit into the front lines, giving XP to your enemy. They literally made deleting your units a special ability that only the British can do and only to their vehicles... Why?
When CoH2 came out it was criticised a lot for being a mess - although brought in the true sight los and UI stuff, new commander model etc. It was imbalanced and buggy, and bugsplats still are a common problem in that game. The fact is, CoH2 was never welcomed with open arms. Everyone was upset about it being a mess, and not up to par with CoH1 experience, but that's why I think many have it backwards in regards of thinking critics of CoH3 having short memories; the people who experienced it then, do not want to another mess in their hands, hoping it gets fixed. The cult of the new will obviously hop onto whatever the new thing is but, nonetheless, it is ok to criticise the new game for not being up to par compared to the earlier one. If they took a look at the game and asked "what's wrong with it and what do the players want to change" and built upon that, then you'd have a banger on your hands. Here they seem to have started the whole cycle again from scratch.
It's missing the grit of the earlier 2 games. I was stoked when they showed off the overworld grand strategy part because my ideal WW2 RTS is Gates of Hell with an overworld Total War style grand strategy map but the more I'm seeing the less I'm interested.
The uI is horrible, when I build a unit, there is no cooldown or work in progress in that building like in COH2, just a weird symbol on the bottom right which has nothing to do with the unit I build. And I don't like the graphics, and totally hate how the your vehicles look after a minute of combat, a black brick withn 1000s of bullet ricochets on it, why ? Who thought that looks good or realistic ?! At least remove the visual damage when it is repaired and put back the ammo boxoes, and all the staff the tank loses when it takes damage. An option to disable this visual downgrade in the options would help too. Concerning the factions in skirmish, It really feels like a let down, a lot of favourite units are gone for no reason and many units don't seem to make any sense or have any impact on the game. There is no reason to play this game for me at the moment, I have far more fun with COH2.
I just tested the alpha but I won't buy the full game: I still think it's a good game overall, but it feels the same as usual, with even less of what made me fall in love with CoH 1... The UI, the colours etc. remind me so much I'm playing a game and not having an immersive experience! Letting realism aside, for which people wait for modders to become the heroes, I wanted to "care" about the points, the battle and the soldiers. The Italy campaing side was what most excited me about it all! A bit of strategy, planning, choosing where to fight and making troops matter, finally! Sadly from what I played and what I see now I don't feel any enthusiasm... I think I'd rather play a CoH1 with a well refined French campaign map than the 3 in Italy as of now
Yeah, it's baffling. Like there's a "health bar" above towns in the Italy map, but WTF does it even do? You can blast it with artillery and it goes down... for what purpose? What are the company health bars for except for auto resolve? Why does it matter when I can heal for free every turn?
Since when is "Fine" and "not bad" allowed in a SEQUEL? People expect total improvement, not "just barely passable" trash. CoH 3 is a dumbed down cash-grab made by idiots who have ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE what made the original so great.
In my opinion, the project's lack of passion is simply evident, and adds up to the objective problems and shortcomings, but we know it, a fair number of players are now companies champions, for them the game is "fantastic", without obviously being able to really counter those who show critical issues and shortcomings if not with a "it's fine for me". The most aggressive simply accuse you of being toxic, I say that they are toxic, they are the reason why something like this happens more and more frequently.
The graphics part is very sad... I liked the more colorful mediterranean theme but seemingly a lot of people didn't, or at least a very loud minority. If you compare old pre-alpha footage to the release version, you can see a bigger graphics downgrade than just the colors. I really wonder why Relic went from one extreme to the other, without trying small changes first. Especially "Twin Beaches" pre-alpha footage looks like it's from a completely different game. Besides that, I love your comparison with DaVinci Resolve. The game looks so much better and even the unit readability is improved. I guess it would help a lot if Relic just puts sliders for these things into the game, so people can customize the game to their liking, without the need for an external software like re-shade.
@@jandamz1119 then they wonder why the graphics look worse...blows my mind. Having a reshade on right now to sort of get that look back, it's not bad but I hope Relic brings the original look back.
The thing is, it doesn't look realistic. CoH 1&2 looked gritty and serious and this game doesn't. And those things aren't mutual exclusive, Dead Island for example was colorful, yet gritty. But Relic missed the mark.
This is my list of things they have to improve. If they change that stuff it could be a really good game. they just need to take the right steps now. -Camera too close -Graphics too washy -Sound is cheap -Matches are too fast -Disappointing state of modding tools -No other voicelines than English (CoH2 had several other languages) -No Ranking System -No Unlockables -No Replay function? -No ingame Achievements -No ingame Stats -No Customization yet (CoH2 had it at release) -No Playernames shown on other factions -No SteamFriends Overlay -No Gameplay feautures from previous titles like forward HQ or retreat point -No tank crushing -No aftermatch chat -No rejoining Lobbies -No off-map abilities can be fired to enemy base even in annihilation mode -No Profile page to view stats -No Surrender option -No Inventory Option (cant change faceplate, banner, title etc.) -No earning of Credits to buy stuff -No way to view the map at the end of a match -No chatroom server support -No ability to name your Custom Lobby -No Playerlist in Multiplayermatches -No leadboards for premade teams -No ability to have the camera follow a unit -No Observermode -Unable to queue capture orders on the tactical map -Only few battlegroups -Battlegroup abilities have no resource cost info until you confirm them -UI is still confusing -Some Portraits and Icons arent correct -Flashing Textures -Unclear Notifications -Pathfinding is not that good -Mod support doesnt work as intended yet -Custom matches arent always shown in the lobby browser -Menu Options are very limited -Cant choose the difficulty and gamemode in coop skirmish random lobbies -Very few units -Base building is too easy and you dont have much options -AI is not that strong as in CoH2 -Many Icons recycled -Many Animations doesnt look that well -Chat is trashy made -Inviting friends is a clickfest -Not that much progress from beta build recognisable -Ingame Killcounter hard to access -Match colors are random -Pings on minimap are too unrecognizable (also no extra sound) -Plane and Vehicle animations are cheap -Unprecise Unitnames -Missing ability and unit descriptions -Campaign Savegames doesnt work -Ability activation is unclear -Healing, repair and many other unit status icons are ugly -Fuel and ammo point icon colors are faded for no reason -Unique sound ques missing for many abilities (all you hear is "ability activated") -Poor barbed wire building, units get to both sides of the wire when completed too often and sometimes you can just pass through -Poor emplacement/bunker building in general, sometimes you are shown "you can build here" and when you attempt, nothing happens -Units stand on mines after placed and not moving aside automatically -Getting units to heavy cover too often gives them negative cover forcing you to retreat
I’m on the fence about getting it, it looks like a step backwards and to the side from coh2 feature wise which blows. I just dunno what it is that’s keeping me away
I like it. Its a good successor to Desert Rats vs Afrika Corps. Wish they made the North African campagnes way longer and gave the British one too. Also well done to keep the "message" to a minimum. Wish it was entirely removed.
There's no British campaign?! In an RTS revolving around the North African theater of WWII?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Oh man, this game is an even bigger shitshow than I thought!
@@starcoloneldunadansonoft501 You only get Afrika Corps that feels too short. And a bizarre Italian US campagne that I am not a fan of. Its a total war style game.
What CoH3 is missing is the polish. You can't surrender, can't pick maps you want to play in matchmaking, colouring of players is random and lack of different battlegroups.
7:50 I get the argument, and games should get a bit of leeway in this regards. But, the new release are not competing against the game (market) of 2013, it's against the versions and games which are available today. And at this price-point it does not bring enough to the table, to convince me to overlook it's flaws. I will either wait for a price drop, or see if any updates improve what the game has to offer ... other than a upcoming micro transaction store ...
I waited 10 years for this game and refunded it on the first day. It left me pretty angry. I didn't have as much as a problem as others with the sound. The AI is virtually nonexistent, unit damage is inconsistent to the point where some units seem to stop doing damage altogether while some can just butcher a superior unit at a laughable pace. As an example, I had two field guns. A Pak 40 and 6 pdr sitting side by side. An enemy engineer squad took cover behind some sandbags at the maximum range of their submachineguns and the guns and their crews opened fire. I scrolled back to my base to move out some recently reinforced squads and by the time I clicked back to have them move to where the field guns were, both gun crews were dead. The engineers slaughtered them while suppressed from max range. Another time, I had three squads of grenadiers that ran up to, and surrounded, an enemy mortar team in the middle of an open field. All 18 men opened fire. 30 seconds later, the remaining two mortarmen ran away successfully and I had to reinforce the squads because they killed half of my men. As far as the lack of AI, in CoH2 if you put an infantry squad right next to, but not on, a piece of cover and they took fire, they would take cover and return fire. In CoH3, they stand there and die. Also, half the time, an enemy squad would run right up to point blank range and my squads would ignore them until I manually told them to attack. I also had multiple instances of artillery smoke coming down around a unit or vehicle so I would run/drive them out of the area and the artillery would come down directly on the unit outside of the smoke area and kill it instantly. I really, really wanted this game to be good but it's just not acceptable.
No, its not a good game. Alpha state of the 60$ release aside, making action packed isometric clickers like this and call it Real Time STRATEGY is why that genre almost died years ago in the first place. Its a shallow game good for mobile with the Store tab just waiting for its invasion. Thank Goddess Soase2 is on the way with Sanctuary and FAF is still thiving.
The only bug I have come across so far is on the first mission where you assist the partisans in the hill top village, I had a US infantry squad get "stuck" breaching a home. The german squad inside died while they were breaching and they wouldn't stop breaching and were uncontrollable.
I'm enjoying the gameplay for the most part but can't say I'm massively into the campaign. The desert fox campaign was decent but I'm not yet sold in the Italian campaign mode
I love RTS. Played AGE 1,2 and 4 ( also tried the other 2 ) Played WC3, SC2 and all expansions for both. Campagne and PvP and custom Games I also played Halo wars and Halo wars 2 and loved both. But I could not at all find appeal in the CoH series. And the CoH 3 looks not even fun when I watch players who I like to watch from Age 4. Happy for those who get enjoyment out of this. But I feel it lacks the good things of the before mentioned RTS games. It does it's own thing in terms of economy, combat and win conditions. I just came to this Video because I am curious why it has so bad reception from others. So I will stick to Aoe 4 and hope Stormgate can deliver quality, excitement for RTS fans. The Launch of Age 4 had ppl from all sorts of RTS coming together for the first big tournament shortly after launch. I am sure it will be the same for Stormgate.
Same here, multiplayer is a lot of fun! People seemingly didn't like the colorful graphics back in the pre-alpha state, but instead of just changing the bright colors a bit, they downgrade the whole visuals. Not that they're bad now, but they're far worse than what they could've been at release.
My issues with the game is that for a third title in the franchise, made 10 years later, it's not different enough from the other games than it should've been. Think of another series of games from Relic; Dawn of War. Dawn of War 1 was a standard base-builder RTS with its own twist, involving a squad system, and was a fantastic game in itself. However, Dawn of War 2, while also keeping the squad system, was much closer to Company of Heroes than the original title, and in the end with a completely different scale more reminiscent of Tabletop 40k. It was also a really solid game, and was strikingly different. Dawn of War 3 was weird and strongly disliked, but it also tried to have something somewhat different. Company of heroes has more or less been the same formula with the same mechanics, with not nearly as much change, for three games straight, and across 17 years. Sure, there's a bit more to it, but it doesn't really try anything significant. It's not significantly larger scale, not more realistic, it's the same goofy arcade RTS with a visual theme of WWII. It's maybe not bad by itself, but the issue comes when you compare it to a 10 year older game of the same franchise, where the visual difference isn't that significant barring COH3 being desaturated, and the gameplay being very similar. The core of the problem is that it's an unimaginative, "safe" play from Relic, which hasn't really tried to innovate the RTS genre in basically a decade. It's a mediocre game as a result, because you can get COH2 for a third of the price, or COH1 for almost a fifth without a sale on Steam, and get a fairly similar, if maybe slightly worse looking experience, with quite similar gameplay. Sure, these games had content released for them and updates over time, which COH3 didn't have the chance to get yet as it's brand new, but it's just ridiculously expensive for not much more than what the older titles offer, without providing any actual major gameplay overhaul or change of scale really justifying the purchase for wary customers. To me, this game is a symptom of the stagnation present in the RTS genre, with Paradox barely but at least innovating, Relic doing mostly cosmetic innovation but essentially not doing as much as Paradox (which is rather sad), leaving only smaller companies like SHIRO games, sometimes Petroglyph, and a few solo indie devs with communities being a dozen people or so as the only ones trying to actually make unique and interesting RTS games. That said, I also just don't like company of heroes much, only having played the 2 because friends I had did, but my usual gaming group just has everyone hating the gameplay of it (the camera being way too close to the ground in basically every Relic game being one issue) and preferring the much more realistic and VIOLENT (violence is funny) Men of War: Assault Squad 2, and its many mods. So I may have biases against the franchise showing there.
CoH 3 just shows, that Relic has same major issues with their staff, DoW 3 wasn't a one time failure because CoH 3 is kinda Dawn of War 3 again. It drives me crazy that Relic is unable to produce a game which is equal or better than the predecessors. They already did it and suddenly forgot how to do it properly? My opinion is, that they pretty much lost all the talent which made the older Relic games good. And their newest iteration of the essence engine sucks. All 3 games which were made with this iteration have graphical issues. Let's break it down: -graphics are bad for a 2023 game 10 years after the last CoH game -sound is terrible, you just need to compare it to previous voht games -UI is really bad, like Battlefield 2042 bad levels -Content isn't that great to begin with, the traditional campaign Is an afterthought and not very well down, the strategic campaign map isn't fleshed out enough (AI is completely passive) and has close to zero replayability and the game lacks maps -Factions, yes we get 4 of them but they are dumbed down and more symmetrical than factions in previous CoH games And for this mess, you need to pay 60!!! dollars/euros. What was SEGA/Relic thinking? They treat their fans like garbage (DoW3 and noch CoH3) and expect them to be totally happy? Most criticism people call out was already in the very first Playtest and they barely changed anything based on player feedback, that's the sad truth. The game feels like a mobile/console game and that is intended.
I’ve been loving it. Been playing since Coh1. I’m liking it more than 2 and once they iron everything out in the coming months I’m sure it’s going to be stellar.
I guess one obvious point you missed is that its supposed to be "3", the upgrade should be kinda obvious but it just isnt. Not to mention that relic expects you to pay up 60 €, (+ 40 € dlc) for this game and it just clearly is not worth it at the moment.
As a Multi-player player of coh2, 4000 hours, I can say that I am disappointed with coh3, in the demo I didn't like the fluidity, the lack of zoom out, the units to diffuse mixed with the terrain, the colors, the animations, in short, I didn't like almost anything. I forced myself to play the demo, I didn't want to believe that coh3 hadn't hooked me like coh2 and Coh did. But I came to the conclusion that Reliq's options are really these, the game is there as it will be, maybe it's my problem, I wanted a Coh2.5, and that's not what we're going to have. I pass this game.
I just don't understand the lack of zoom out -- even just a little more, I don't need a full map view. Playing at 1440p the camera is so close to the field in CoH1 and 2. Then I have to flip my screen around (no WASD either) to make sure the neighboring units are actually firing, like I instructed them to. Sounds like its the same thing here?
Speaking of bugs, there was a weird one when my American mortar crew kept speaking German at me. Must be a traitor legion.
Or not so great spies 😂
Traitor legion? HERESY
NEIN! Mein Name ist John Smith. Auch das ist John Smith, John Smith und John Smith. Wir sind alle loyale Amerikaner.
@@Dinnye01 Nah, it's just Alpharius
Wait until you hear their Italian!
Coh 3 has no German voiceover whatsoever.
let me guess, it also doesnt have a French voiceover whatsoever?
@@ChaplainDMK even Italian unit
English only. Just awful! Immersion is important in an RTS and the german voicelines are sometimes cringe af.
I have to agree though with that the voice overs for CoH 1 and 2 were better.
For all factions.
There was a number of negative reviews on steam just for the voice overs of the game for CoH3.
Also applies to castillian. And I guess many languages that were dubbed in the previous two games but not in this one.
There's no Italian faction in a game which focuses on the Italian campaign.... but there is a shop build into the game.... It just reeks of a DLC hell to come.
Even worse, they're just lackeys to the Germans in one doctrine.
I'd almost rather them be completely absent.
Yea that in-game store... its ready to pull money in by selling cut contents
@@kglguy The DAK is the only faction that gets Italian battlegroups though.
And before AoE4, they had Dawn of War 3 to learn from. But alas.
Screw the tactics we original fans want to see, and screw graphical upgrades we’ve been waiting two games for… we have to make room for console losers.
you also can't save matches to play later, save match stats(atleast custom matches), save replays and no timeline scrubber for replays
(no way to skip or go back to a point in the replay without watching the entire thing again)

Yeah, I skipped CoH2. I tried it. Thought it was terrible compared to CoH1. But this was at launch. I'm currently very much enjoying Coh3
++

Bugs:
Devil's Brigade DLC not unlocking for the launch edition of the game for everyone.
Things currently in COH3 needing improvement:
In-game visuals look too washed out/bland, require better lightning/contrast.
- Missing audio cues for grenades being lobbed (specifically satchel charges)
- Units getting stuck after exiting certain houses.
- No ingame leaderboards
- No proper social system ingame to chat with the rest of the community
- No option to rejoin after disconnecting (it’s 2023 we should have this option now…)
- No observer mode
- No proper replay system
- No depth to ingame tips and guides/ build orders
- The tactical map is a mess with unit cards covering other unit cards
- Machineguns in buildings missing their face direction button.
- Random input delay during matches making it unplayable at times.
He saying this is a tiny Version lol 😂😂😂😂😂
In CoH1 you played Saving private Ryan, in CoH3 you play new Disney movie.
@@CrizzyEyes AoE was always a colourful game and that is intendent by the developer since AoE1.

My issues are
-Placeholders still in the game showing it’s not done, like the portrait for a DAK commander is just UK Indian artillery commander and “Insert Text Here” and many icons are just from Company of Heroes 2 which is obvious since it has a different art direction.
Camera mod in custom games fixes the zoom level issue. Not a perfect solution, I know, but still good for multiplayer.
COH1 and COH3 share zoom levels though. COH2 is more zoomed in actually. I think the issue people are experiencing is the use of verticality and height in buildings. This was also demoed elsewhere by showing the height of infantry units in MP start positions and in battles.
The close zoom level has been a part of all coh games, use the tac map of you want to see more of the map, it's what it's there for
The thing you need to keep in acount zade, is that company of heroes 2 is a great game, so when the developer releases a new game poeple expect improvements.
so if you never played coh2 then yes coh3 is a great game. but the fans of coh2 expect something more

@@Hunter_6601 What does that have to do with anything? If coh2 sucked at launch, that's not an excuse for coh3 to suck as well. Coh3 on launch needs to be compared to everything that exists right now, that means an up to date coh2.

It is WAY MORE FUN than coh2
Like the gameplay is just way better!
@@aziouss2863 but how so? In what way? Please tell me so I can like the game more.
I'll pass on Company of Heroes 3. Mostly because money's a bit tight, and I already backed Ratten Reich, which looks like it might scratch a similar itch when it eventually comes out.
RR looks like a downgrade from gates of hell, especially in terms on unit animation
for me it’s simple. they base so much of the game on Italy but they get sideline shafted into the DAK in the MP. it’s a downright insult.
For the longest time since the original teasers i’ve been excited and hoping for a full proper Italian Faction ever since CoH2, and the one, single, fucking, thing i wanted to see gets completely disregarded by the devs and tossed as supports into the germans.
It’s a disgrace Italy produced some of the best ships weapons aircraft in ww2
Few Things:
- Balanced issues, many.. it being adressed by developers.
As someone who gave it a bad review here is what I have to say
1: bugs
2: graphics
3: lazy reuse of mission objectives
4: lazy reuse of Maps
5: lack of variation and reuse of voicelines
6:gui errors
7: gui is terrible
8: felt like a beta for the console version
9: sound
10: Total War mode was not needed
11: allied generals involved in campaign are cliche ripoffs of monty and patton
12: extremely low pop cap
1:01 Game reviewers are payed off to give good scores, taking their "opinions" on games is akin to trusting politicians.
i think the main issue here is on your part:
- your comment about the campaign: its a bit weaker than the previous games, but still ok.
It doesn't bring anything new to the franchise besides some minor improvements like side armour and terrain blocking LOS.
why do people hate it?
because they listened to the casuals to appeal to the " wider audience"
instead of listening to the people who actually stuck around playing regularly in COH2
COH vet here... after the patch
1. Bugs: There is a lot of em present, mostly units getting stuck on things or things refusing to build when double-clicked
2. Graphics: They are not bad, just excepted more
You're a bad person if you support this game
I never buy games on release anymore. It's best to just wait a year or 2 when there's a sale and most of the bugs are cleaned up.
@@RyanJosepher 😂
I overall enjoy the game. The core gameplay is fun. My big complaint are UI issues. There are no replays (without substandard workarounds), no spectator mode, and I can't even tell whose units are who in multiplayer. No player names show up, just color. Building parties and chat is also painful as all the notifications, invites, menus are crammed in the same corner. These are pretty basic things that were solved in RTS's over 30 years ago but not implemented in a 2023 release. They are all supposedly planned for implementation later, but it saddens me that basic and potentially core gameplay features are no longer present when games release.
Nah man, graphic is hideous
CoH3 feels like i play with toys
This glitch happens on coh 2 sometimes too, especially on the SU-85
Well i play at uncapped FPS and my friends also play withouth no problems . noone is locked at 30fps so idk what kind of setup your friend has.
for us atleast everything is smooth as butter i havent crashed and i saw 1 bug some units that where stuck after breaching , and im already 17 hours in only multiplayer tho dont know about singleplayer.
this game still needs alot of work so the only thing i understand is that people are angry for the high price for a incomplete game and i agree .
but the game is fun once the balance changes and problems get adressed and patched . as a coh2 player i approve this game just not the price for the state it is in now .
bro its not the game xD its the shit setup of your friend ngl
Hey man I'm not the one running this, I don't know.
I played COH 2. What i really hope is that they make a Pacific War campaign. I want something new.
First few games a friend streamed me:
_ pixelated German flag.
_ transport truck without sound nor animations.
_ corpses with Parkinson stuck in walls.
_ too low dezoom that makes the camera hit the roof of the cathedral in the campaign mission.
_ infantry throw a grenade on the side of a wall, explosion inside the building from all windows.
_ scout plane going through tall buildings,
Going around in a tight circle.
Problem Six - way too expensive for what you get. I’ll wait till it goes on sale and more bugs fixed.
My biggest issue is that before even trying to fix the larger issues, they do a sega and add virtual currencies
@@Tarquin47
Being a consumerist fanboy with 0 standards is even more stupid. Have fun wasting your money on literal trash.
@@TheJohn_Highway how many dlcs did 2 have again? Nice projection though
Honestly bro. I made the mistake buying COH2. I am not going to fall for them again.
my biggest complaint about the game is the appalling lack of an Italian faction in a game focused on the war in north Africa and Italy itself! it's incredibly disappointing to have a game like this where the only playable axis factions are Germany and Germany 2(TM).
Now even RTS games get downgraded because of consoles.
Imo it's a fine game just not a 60$ one. Yeah it'll need some ironing before it becomes enjoyable for most people but I found myself surprisingly liking most of the new stuff (auto vault, auto reinforce etc) heck even the 'tactical pause' which I like to call the 'I can't micro button' is really useful if you want to chill.
it's not about the faded colors, it's about the .gif 2 fps ppt animations
The most consistent bug and by far the most annoying bug I've encountered is that for some reason, the Indian arty placements become unable to fire. You'll select a position for them to fire on, and then they'll raise the gun but then nothing happens, rendering that gun position completely useless for the rest of the game and taking up precious pop.
The lack of a delete key for the units is infuriating. You're forced to suicide your unit into the front lines, giving XP to your enemy. They literally made deleting your units a special ability that only the British can do and only to their vehicles... Why?
You forget about Price too expensive for this level quality game
And my troops keep getting stuck behind obstacles and cover
Coh2 was bugged but hooked me since the first day, with this one I forced myself to play the demo, and I quite after 30 minutes.
The graphics are indeed literally worse than COH 1
It's missing the grit of the earlier 2 games.
I was stoked when they showed off the overworld grand strategy part because my ideal WW2 RTS is Gates of Hell with an overworld Total War style grand strategy map but the more I'm seeing the less I'm interested.
Graphics are horse shit... and then they ask you to pay 60 euros
Why don't panzer grenadiers get anti-tank weapons?
I just tested the alpha but I won't buy the full game:
I still think it's a good game overall, but it feels the same as usual, with even less of what made me fall in love with CoH 1...
Further proof Relic lost their capabilities to make good games.
I guess it would help a lot if Relic just puts sliders for these things into the game, so people can customize the game to their liking, without the need for an external software like re-shade.
the loud majority wanted grey and gritty for a game set in the Mediterranean, so hey they got their wish for a less colorful game sadly.

Damn, I really wish this game succeed. CoH has the best RTS mechanic in any game, period, and I would hate for them to go the way DoW3 did.
I'm still maintaining some faith this wont be a DoW3 situation. But not enough faith that I'm buying it yet.

Also well done to keep the "message" to a minimum. Wish it was entirely removed.
Where are the italian tankets ? 1/10 bad game

Lol imagine giving a damn what 'critics' think
I like this game a lot. Much more than 2. It's also the most polished relic game at release.
Totally fair. We'll see about the store!
The italy campaign would be far better if you had more strategic options. Even the beta test a year ago had more options for the campaign
I love RTS.
Played AGE 1,2 and 4 ( also tried the other 2 )
Played WC3, SC2 and all expansions for both. Campagne and PvP and custom Games
I also played Halo wars and Halo wars 2 and loved both.
Visuals defo need another pass over for me but other then that im really enjoying the game
Same here, multiplayer is a lot of fun! People seemingly didn't like the colorful graphics back in the pre-alpha state, but instead of just changing the bright colors a bit, they downgrade the whole visuals. Not that they're bad now, but they're far worse than what they could've been at release.
@@sorentappe8745 agree 100 percent Im really enjoying the multiplayer my self
@@sorentappe8745 I just think most players don’t know how vibrant the Mediterranean is in real life
My issues with the game is that for a third title in the franchise, made 10 years later, it's not different enough from the other games than it should've been.
I DESPISE there is no replay feature, that's honestly a huge drawback for me, especially for a $60 game
Let's break it down:
-graphics are bad for a 2023 game 10 years after the last CoH game
-sound is terrible, you just need to compare it to previous voht games
-UI is really bad, like Battlefield 2042 bad levels
-Content isn't that great to begin with, the traditional campaign Is an afterthought and not very well down, the strategic campaign map isn't fleshed out enough (AI is completely passive) and has close to zero replayability and the game lacks maps
-Factions, yes we get 4 of them but they are dumbed down and more symmetrical than factions in previous CoH games
And for this mess, you need to pay 60!!! dollars/euros.
🧢
Years son not months
Graphics outdated and audio downgrade. Thats all u needa know.
Idk why people think the graphics are worse, they are waaaay better over the previous two cames :/
Mostly people watching compressed RUclips videos instead of playing the game
@@Hunter_6601 Most people play the Alfa and the Beta, the graphics are the same.
After DoW3 and AoE4 fans are after Relic's Blood.
I guess one obvious point you missed is that its supposed to be "3", the upgrade should be kinda obvious but it just isnt. Not to mention that relic expects you to pay up 60 €, (+ 40 € dlc) for this game and it just clearly is not worth it at the moment.
Hi is it worth it now?
