You could cut the bearing assembly off but a new bearing a seal needs to be pressed on. I bought the whole hub axle assembly and replacing the existing that way. Currently mine doesnt even want to come out
I am finding out Frontier rear axle seal and rear diff seals leak a lot from its diff breather valve getting clogged and not venting inside diff pressure once heats up. There are fairly simple mod to relocate the breather valve to different location as it is prone to getting clogged and corroded from wetness it endures.
Whats the part number for that seal? Man im not sure about mine doesn't have the diameter on the outer of the seal it fits on the shaft but not on the hub of the cup if you will. Any help will be highly appreciated
you can but I just added back up to the full point where fluid was coming out of the fill hole. Most people never change that fluid and it is fine for a lot of miles.
My 2012 Pro4X Frontier is leaking on both sides. Dealers are telling me you cant get parts and I need an entire rear end. I find that hard to believe. A few years ago I replaced my vent with a fitting and hose up to the tail light. The old vent must have been defective which may have caused the seal to leak in the first place.
if it is not noisy you could replace the axle seals. Check a local repair shop. Not too hard to do. IF the vent is plugged up it will leak anyway. make sure it is not restricted.
@@truenorthmuskoka9077 yea probably not bad. so find a smaller local shop to replace the seals. ON that year the bearings are pretty easy to replace from what I can see. check the part and see if there is a bearing kit. they come with a spacer that needs to be cut off. to change it.. Then just have the local shop do the bearings and seals.
The rear axel assembly is like $5k!! Thats at the dealer, and Z1 Off-road. I'd find a reputable shop to rebuild it if needed. The ProX4 has a Dana rear end. Parts are readily available from what I'm told.
That axle shaft needs replaced...not a cheap repair...i just did 1 today...we have a special tool to perform it...but yea that seal made a nice wear mark on the shaft which once that ring on the shaft is made...the shaft is condemned
it was just a polished area there was no groove where the seal was rubbing against the shaft. It does not leak anymore everything is fine. I know what you mean but the shaft did not have a worn area where the seal was hitting it. The oly problem was that someone changed the seal and ruined the new one or put the wrong one in there.
@@mikesrandomvideos im a nissan tech and seen this often brother...took me replacing an axle seal 3 times before we realised what the issue was, seen the seal you had taken off yea looked pretty bad but just a heads up if it leaks again the axle will be the fix...which lets hope it doesnt cause mannnnn its not cheap, the only part that gets reused is the back plate for the brake shoes and calipers
thanks for watching and your comments. Hope this helps you get your truck on the road and away from those expensive mechanics.
Thank you, helps a bunch, this is the only video on rear seal of this style, I agree no idea how to change out the bearing hub. Thank you again.

So you don't need to pull the cover off the differential or drain the oil out of it,?

@@mikesrandomvideos there is some noise (sounds like road noise) but I only hear it when there is torque/acceleration. No noise when coasting.

I’m just curious on how many miles are on that I have 68,000 on my 2018 and it’s been leaking for a while I think.
