I love the series and the characters! Will continue when the next is released.
      Spoiler warning.......
However, I find that I’m getting aggravated with the continuous tease of the “Elders”. We are 3 books in...we need more info.
I can’t decide if this is a mega slow build by Lynch or if he’s planning on leaving us hanging perpetually.
Regardless, it’s becoming distracting for me.

I loved the first book, though I had to put it up and come back to it later because of the starting pacing. The same thing is happening for me right now in the second book, but I’m definitely going to get through the first three before the next comes out

I am currently trying to make my way through it. So far, i'm not really invested in the characters. Caldo and Galdo seem like the best most interesting, and they get almost no screentime. Plus, both the women in the series (all two of them) are spoken about -- it is hinted that they exist -- but we don't really get to see them. Of course, i'm only about halfway through the book. I have to finish it though, i have to find out how the bastards resolve things with the Grey King.

These books are my heart. I picked of The Lies of Locke Lamora after hearing that it was about thieves. Thieves doing thief things is pretty much a guaranteed win of a trope for my reading tastes, as I always love reading about it. What I wasn't prepared for was the FEELS trip I was about to go on. The heists are infinitely clever and wonderful, of course, but I feel in love with the atmosphere, the gritty danger, and my dear, dear Locke and Jean. I rave about these books to anyone that will listen to me, hoping more people read them. I devoured the whole series in under two weeks because I simply could not put them down. I cannot wait for the next installment.

I loved the books, its probably one of the best characters in fantasy I've read in a long time. I am normally more drawn into world building and strong story series, but Daniel is correct - the characters and their 'bro-mance' is what really reels you in. The flash backs seem to be a strong suit for Lynch, and you'll see him use this throughout the series. Also if you have a love of Renaissance/Venetian type backdrops, you'll love this. Not to lay it on too thick, but this was also my #2 audio book in my Audible library and the voicing is spot on. Buy both! I wish Scott Lynch well and await more of his works.

One thing that I find uniquely wonderful about this series is that despite how contained the story is, the world still feels very vast and very lived in. The longer it went on, the more so it felt almost... homey. Like you got familiar with the areas that the characters were familiar with and the parts that they weren't felt as equally dangerous or awe inspiring for the reader. And I just kind of think that's neat

Do you follow text? I don't get how people just listen to books and soak in the information

I've seen the books and have played with the idea of buying them but I have so many series I'm into I wasn't sure I wanted to start another. After watching this video though I'll definitely check it out.

Michael Page narrates the audiobook and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Although I love Locke and Jean, Father Chains is my all time favorite simply because of his dialogue.

Read it because of you. I went like 6 months ago to the US to visit friends, bought Lies, then bought the other 2, I ate the books in less than a month. Great characters and setting to emphathize even thoughit might a seem dire and dark place.

I usually like royalty crap with princess and princess, kings queens and all that stuff but I decided to give this a go.
I finished the trilogy last week on audible and I honestly feel so lost now. The book was amazing. Probably the best dialogue I’ve ever had the pleasure of listening too and it was funny. I highly reccomend it.

I'm about to start book 3. first book was incredible... locke vs the bondsmagi was EPIC. The second book was pretty good but I almost got lost keeping the three sets of characters. The ending was circular but good, and totally Locke. Excited to start book 3...

I've listened to the series on Audiobooks twice now. Such a expertly written series, I laughed out loud as well at some parts. (Sansa twins)

Check out The Black Company by Glenn Cook. It is one of the best series I have ever read. It is a military fantasy series told from the point of view of the Medic of a mercenary group called The Black Company. These guys fight for the highest bidder, irregardless of whether the boss is good or evil, and their new boss is quite evil. Check it out I recommend it to everyone.

I tried to read the first book multiple times and for some reason never got into it. Ended up listening to the audiobook and just binged-listened to all three in a month!

I agree with you about how great this series is. I only have two issues with it: (1) pirates are cliche at this point, (2) the first three books are essentially a prequel for an epic fantasy series that will probably never be written for...reasons, mumble mumble, RothfusMartin mumble.

Lies of Locke is in my top 10 favorite books. I loved every moment of it....almost a perfect a book. I'm about 22% through Red Seas. It's good, but not as good (so far) as Lies. I will read Republic as well and am excited that book 4 is slated soon. When I read a book in a series, I tend to jump to something else and then come back. I don't like to binge it. It's like a fine wine...better drank slowly.

I hate that i can't get on with this series, but that said i am still new to the genre, so i think its possible that i can go back to it.I had the same feeling with Abercrombie, it just wasn't the right time, i had just finished WOT, i wanted something darker, it just wasn't the series to follow that.....But have since gotten into it..... who knows, this video is selling it to me though....
