the vocals of Adam and Ryan together is just something very special
I know others have commented about the meaning behind this song, and their own perspectives of it, etc. As someone who both deals with depression and who has friends who struggle with severe depression, it's a chilling song for me to listen to. Don't get me wrong, musically it's amazing. However, the words and the outro have such a deep meaning to me. It makes me feel more concern for my friends who are struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts, and I just want to find some way to make it all better.
Went to a Barenaked Ladies concert... many many years ago at a South Florida amphitheater. Near the front row, center. People next to me were wearing shirts for a band, Guster. I'd not heard of them. Started talking to them and was told they were there for the opening act, Guster. They lauded the band's virtues, claiming they were there for them only. Guster was amazing and sure enough, these peeps were gone after Guster was done. Paid decent prices for those seats, too. Been a fan myself since.

I love all of your music! I listen all the time! Keep up all thr amazingness and don't change just because some people don't like your music. I don't know who doesn't but still. If someone tells you to change, don't. Your music is perfect how it is!

Rocketship is a favourite, but this whole album is gold, thanks so much Guster! Your vocal harmonies make me want to sing more often. The acoustic guitars with string section come together so well.
I'm stoked I discovered Guster, though only recently through Spotify. And you've been around so long, obviously playing heaps together and it shows -cheers!

I have seen several people say this song puts them in a good mood, isn't it about someone committing suicide? That is what I have always thought anyway - my favorite song about that subject. Blue Oyster Cult's 'Don't Fear the Reaper' is right up there but that is really a double suicide or possibly murder/suicide depending on who took the initiative :))
Smashing Pumpkin's Today is about suicide, but such a feel-good song, nonetheless. It's all in the presentation.

Adam sings lead on NONE of the songs on their most recent album. I understand why they leaned more towards Ryan as a lead singer; he's got a broader range and a more compelling voice. I still wish Adam was given at least 3 songs per album to sing lead on, though.
Adam's voice is a little too deep. Ryan's is a little too high. When they harmonize together, the gates to heaven open
