I never really got when people complained about heavy reading. It’s not just an art book, it’s a story with amazing Perez art in it. 👌🏻
I know, it makes no sense to me. I like a comic that has more text in it.
I prefer older comics so I'm used to text-heavy comics, but I do think there are times when some comics becomes verbose beyond tolerance and doesn't add to the story. Comics are sequential story-telling, so the words should supplement the artwork, not override them.
Yes but there is a bad way to do it, the Phil Jimenez omnibus is just so damn boring lol
I don't know about you, but for me, it all depends.
Text-heavy narration in stories that are meant to be inspired by mythology or traditional storytelling? Excellent. This WW run is one example, others include Rorschach's journal from Watchmen, Alec Holland's internal monologues from Moore's Swamp Thing, and the bombastic world-building narration in Walt Simonson's Thor.
Text-heavy dialogue in stories with characters narrating everything they're doing and thinking like the art doesn't even exist? Stupid. Examples of this include Jim Starlin's senseless babble in the more recent Infinity stories and Stan Lee's earliest work on X-Men.
Comics are a synthesis of art and literature. Comics without words is just a picture book for adults.
Good writing can save bad art, but good art can't save bad writing,, in my opiinion. Some of my favourite comics are word heavy: Killraven: War of the WORLDS AND Don McGegor's Black Panther in Jungle Action are just two examples.
Perez's Wonder Woman is up there with those books. I consider Perez's run the best ever iteration of WW.
I like how George Perez made Wonder Woman look somewhat Latina with the big curly hair. He did something similar with Starfire, which looks like a famous Puertorrican vedette (Iris Chacon). George has Puertorrican parents so the influence is there. Rest in power George!!

I remember seeing the first issue and starting a collection of what ended up being one of my favourite collections, and to this day favourite DC characters. She has had changes and retellings since, but I still think this is my preferred one. I was a kid that bought the comic initially for eye candy. The story and letters pages immediately made me feel ashamed of objectifying her, and women in general - a vital lesson for a youth which I learned and continue to learn to this day. I was a tough guy, yet she brought tears to my eyes when she was betrayed and faced a her first lies as a naïve woman new to our World. I thoroughly enjoyed her journey of enlightenment as she learned to adapt without compromising her values. She represents to me what we could achieve if we live by a code of honesty, love and respect; plus show the courage to defend them.
I definitely need to pick this up. George Perez meant a lot to me growing up and while I’ve read his stuff on Avengers and Teen Titans I never checked out his WW. Now is a good time. RIP George. Thank you for your work. You won’t be forgotten.

The new DC logo is so much better than the one on the original printing but I don’t think I will be updating just for that! George set a very high bar with his art here so I think volume 2 is not nearly as exciting when he hands over the art reins. I love volume 3 though when we see a lot of Jill Thompson’s art. Thanks for the comprehensive overview Omar, definitely a three volume set worth owning!
Just got this a couple days ago, can't wait to dive into it.
Here's hoping by some miracle we get that fabled Byrne Superman omni back, then a volume 2, and maybe the start of some long multi-volume omni line called post-crisis Batman..
Hopefully DC gives it all another chance, especially given how well the tpb/hc's sold 😅

Both are at least more likely than my dream-omni's of Golden Age Blue Beetle, Question, Captain Atom, Shazam, Steve Ditko's Blue Beetle, and all the 90's/2000's legacy characters omni's, like Kyle Rainer, Impulse, Jaime Reyes, etc. 🥲
[best advice, never fall in love with c-list DC heroes, their omni's will either be rare, or forever on preorder ( darn Phantom Stranger omni...)]
Gorgeous. I picked up the New Teen Titans V.1 omni last week and can't wait to get this one too. I'll always miss George Perez but I'm grateful we can enjoy and celebrate his work still.
I have the original printing of this. I won't be buying this new edition just for the new DC logo, but I'm surprised they didn't add "Volume 1" as well as the logo change.
Definitely annoying that Action Comics #600 was skipped again. So easy to remedy and they didn’t.
Underneath the dust jacket is a hideous design layout. I guess DC couldn't spend extra money on redesigning it. Pfft. Great video, Omar.
Just wanted to shared this combination on the Perez run:
- WW Vol 1 Omnibus: 1 to 24
- WW Vol 2 Omnibus: 25 to 45
- WW Vol 5 TP: 46 to 57
- WW War of the Gods: 58 to 62 + WotG 1 to 4 + Tie-ins
The TP fits perfectly in between the omnis for a full run. The vol 3 omni (containing 46 to 62 and WotG 1 to 4 and currently OOP) heavily overlaps with the WotG omni (it double dips on 9 issues), being the latter a better way to read the event.
An ideal print would be a bigger new vol 2 from 25 to 57 and forget about that vol 3 all together, but hey...
The opportunity to pick this up on Facebook for a really good price just came up and of course, I came straight to your channel for advice. I now have a copy on the way!

This was one of my fastest preorders, as soon as it went up on DCBS I added it to my cart 👍 finally delivered yesterday but I haven't opened it. There were like 5 other omnis, a bunch of ECs, & 50-60 single issues in that box so it's mocking me from across the room!
I did recently upgrade my WW singles collection, too, finally got that #1 in really great condition (no spine stress lines or creases, just a single tiny corner fold & some minor ink rub around one of the staples), hoping for a 9.4 or 9.6 after I clean & press it.
Just got my copy in the mail. Got 1 and 2 now I need 3!
Love this entire run by Perez - the post COIE era was my childhood. Don't think I can justify purchasing this 2022 edition, though, in order to have matching spines ! ( the next 2 volumes on the older printings switched to the modern DC logo )

Ok the version I have, has a black DC label (not like the 2015 old printing) like the DC label used in the 2022 printing.
Same with my copy which I bought back in 2020.

i have read this whole omnibus but didnt get answer of following questions..can u please answer or guide in which comics/omnibus to get answers.
1 . who killed goat god pan and disgused as him?
2. when did Wonder woman met Superman for 1st time after being attracted to him.
3. how did olympus and gods overcame dark sied..its mentioned ww and superman helped them
4. remaining story of swan song..when its villian got punished
5. who was mysterious hooded character around end of omnibus..donna troy was also mentioned at that segment..
please do answer or guide

If the omni doesn't have enough words to read, I feel they are ripping me off. A big heavy book shouldn't take an hour to read.

what is difference between this version and george perez omnibus 1.. is it ok to purchase 2022 version and george perez vol 2 and 3 skipping omnibus 1?

I recently started buying omnibuses because of this channel. Does anyone have a good option for selling my TPBs? I only have so much space and my local comic shop said they wouldn't buy them.
Either donate to your local library or to people you know who may enjoy those stories. If not sell them on eBay, Amazon or other avenues like a yard sale
The decision to put black end papers in there baffles me. It's a minor detail, but it's also a decision somebody made.
Is the omnibus or absolute preferred?
I prefer the omni since it holds more issues.

I would prefer the omni too since the scans on the Absolute are not any higher in quality and so have a bit more of a washed out effect. At least that's how it was from the copy I got to flip through. The artwork in the omni looks a bit more crisp to my eyes.

@brandon quintero Grayson Superspy omnibus is getting a reprint and remember that coming out around the time Gail Simone's Wonder Woman omnibus did so there's hope. It was a low print run sold out quick

His portrayal of hercules in ww #1 was very accurate to the mythology books. Sorry marvel , but your precious hercules was about as far from heroic as one could get.
What is better to get this Omnibus or the Absolute ?
I think there is more content in the Omni, but I could be wrong.
