2:55 That is known as Vada Pav.
Vada Pav and Pav Bhaji are two different things. ❤
Yeah. The only common thing is the Pav used.
Vada = Patty, Pav = Bread
Pav = Bread, Bhaji = Vegetables
Exactly Achara
vada pav is also known as genda mota roshit besharma
@@sharzo7728lodu type karna to seekh le
pav bhaji better
Paan can be swallowed if it doesn't contain tobacco. Sweet paan which was served here doesn't have tobacco and can be swallowed.
Paan in it's most basic form (betel leaves, limestone or choona in Hindi and arecanut) is eaten by almost all villagers. It's actually very good for us as the limestone is a major source of calcium. You'd hardly see any villager in India complain about bone issues like osteoporosis cos they spend a lot of time in the sun and chew basic paan which has a lot of calcium.
Nice explanation
Achara please read this
it should never be swollowed at all it is a raw leaf and our digestive system is not made to digest leaves unless they are cooked
As a Dental Surgeon, your comment is making me laugh.
@@friendlyatheist9589 lol what? Lettuce, baby spinach, arugula, rocket, coriander, parsley etc so many other leaves are eaten raw. What are you even talking about? Pan can and is eaten and swallowed without any issue as long as there is no Tobacco
11:12 I as an Indian never thought that aloo chat could be that spicy for them
i tought that it doest have enough spices
is just starter level spicy for Maharastrians...
its american made not even indian made
@@thetechreview369what are you even saying? That food item isn't spicy at all, it doesn't even register as spicy on my taste buds lol😂😂. Just tangy and flavourful.
And of course I am a Maharashtrian.
@@sumedhmayekar6580 I am saying because they couldn't have made it according to our recipes... Aloo tikki is mostly northie dish... northies don't put much spices like us... those Americans maybe put red chilly powder instead of aloo chaat masala... that is starter level for us... hyanna kharda khayla ghala kalel teva tikhat kay asta
Everytime there's a food video, Andrew should wear a shirt that says "I love chickpeas".😂😂
True 😂
Fr fr
@@nicknealasphalt3d206lol not scripted I just love them!!
@@andrewgordon7662You guys must eat Indian food on camera for the channel.
@@andrewgordon7662and we love you 😼❤️
Paan, is not exactly considered food. it's considered more as a mouth freshner, it's something you have after you had your meal.
Or to hide smell of cigarettes 😉🥂
@@MaheshSharma-kq3bl mahesh Dalle 😂😂💀🤣🤣
@@MaheshSharma-kq3bl People who need to hide the smell of cigarettes probably shouldn't be smoking in the first place.
10:22 Achara going "its not Ranch stop that"😂😂 such Indian vibes 😌🔥🔥
@Achara, Bread is Pav and it goes with many things in India especially in Maharashtra, Pav Vada (that's the bread with Potato pattie that you go confused with), then Pav Bhaji (which was the first dish served on this reaction) and there is also Pav Misal or commonly referred as 'Misal Paval', which is best described as a lentil gravy/curry topped with chopped onions, veggies and also some savories sprinkled over..
I just had my breakfast and I'm salivating!
I went to an international school in Europe and for cultural food day, I took jalebis and chakli to school - I was so accustomed to the sugar levels and spice levels in these food items but my classmates couldn’t stand the sugar😂 and they had tears when eating the chaklis😂 was an interesting day but at least they got to try something completely new :)
Met a Norwegian once. We shared our aloo bhujiya with him. He turned red and started sweating. Was too spicy
Just a suggestion- Why not Cine Desi team do an Indian food review in pairs like this so that team members who have never tried Indian food look confident while doing reviews. Most of them just look lost or not confident and Achara has to cover up for everything. We need the entire team to review together. Team building exercise. 🎉
Andrew should try pani puri, butter chicken - garlic naan, masala dosa, jalebi, kulfi, aloo tikki chaat, pav bhaji, chicken biryani and dal makhni
Haan puri menu hi chpika de yahan pe
fire paan bhul gya
Pan comes in different varieties. I guess the pan they tried did not contain betel nuts but is a sweet pan. It can be eaten and swallowed. Betel leaves are OK to eat and good for your digestion.
I suggest Andrew, Steph, Kristen & Courtney to do a group reaction to Indian food with Imtiyaz explaining what the dishes are.
💯
As an Indian student in the UK, I get a chance to go back to Delhi every chrismas and for the past 5 years (I've been here since 2018) every time I have gone back home, my parents and uncle & aunt always have pani puri and jalebi ready for the evening snack. Like every time, as soon as I entre my house, my mother says, we have already arranged for your pani puri and jalebi, is there anything else you want? You should also try a raj kachori, which is basically a bigger dahi puri but with different ingredients. Thanks to this video, I'm now home sick. Can't wait for December anymore.
Guys if you are seriously considering a food reaction video then it would be good if you can add some South Indian and Northeastern dishes as well. I have seen so many food videoes but most of them only do like Biryani, Butter Chicken, Naan but in India there are other amazing dishes as well
Andrew should try all the Indian food from all the states😂😋😋😋
Please we want Steph and Andrew together trying Indian food
Achara understanding our culture and genuinely appreciating it is so beautiful ❤
9:17 ok so paan are made of various stuff so some you can swallow some you can't.the one you described u made for ur grandma sounds like supari paan.Others r of gulkand, tobacco, etc
Paan is very much an acquired flavor. Even people with a developed palate don't often like it so for someone whos never even ventured into distinct flavors I imagine it wouldnt be a favourite
Yes... I don't like paan at all and I am Indian too😂😂
Eating Paan used to be frowned upon, now social media has given it a new lease of life. As and Indian, living in Delhi area, I have probably eaten Paan once or twice in my lifetime.
Paan is so disgusting.
In india Every Village has their own special Food 🍲, Language and their Culture.
Sweet Paan is the best thing you can eat after a heavy meal. It's not only make your mouth fresh, but also helps in digest the food.
Please let Andrew try butter chicken and naan on here. It'll be fun!
13:50 scamming foreigners with visuals of paneer jalebi and feeding them regular jalebi😂😂
It's not a dish but a digestive but Andrew should DEFINITELY try Hajmola.
I seem to forget that masala can be spicy for some people. For me who have eaten curry for a long time unless you add an unreasonable amount of chilly it is not spicy or moderately spicy at best.
Make a video on whole cinedesi team trying Indian food . We will definitely enjoy it ❤
We want all the cinepals do Indian Street food reaction.. I remember when acahra and jaby tasted diwali sweets and was amazing .. please do it guys... 😉😉💯💯😛😛
0:51 gulab jamun definitely😋
Achara what you described with your grandma chewing betel leaf Pan is exactly that, that's how majority people eat/chew it fire and ice pan are just fancy versions of that
Yea, she is talking about the original hardcore one. That even my grandma used to eat. Not the wuss meetha paan that we all eat. 😅
Chewing Bettle leaf aids in digestion, you can swallow it, provided you add some other stuff like sweetened rose petals and sweetened Cumins, cloves, cardamom, etc.
You don't spit out the paan unless it contains the hard betel nuts and quicklime (the white paste - calcium oxide + water). That combo is just as addictive and harmful as cigarettes and tobacco chews. But Paan made out betel leaves and spice mixes and fruit/ flowers petal candies are meant to be chewed and swallowed. Betel leaves slathered with butter as it is in empty somach is good for you tummy health.
Betel leaves with betel nut and quicklime is not harmful, it helps with Digestion and increases immunity....... But when added tobacco with it, it becomes harmful
@@tamizhtamizh1111 Dude, quick lime burns your mouth. Never seen the mouths of people who chew chunnambu and betel? Its burnt and decaying. Or have you ever tried sticking your hand into quick lime and water mixture? It creates a thermal reaction leading to burns, you idiot. Go revise your chemistry text.
As for betel nuts, I won't recommend swallowing them because they are are hard and can cause stomach ulcers if you have a weak stomach.
There are different types of Paan, the beetel leaf is edible and good for digestion. If you had too much to drink have the beetel leaf it will subside the effects as it will digest the alcohol within mins. Sweet paan people have it after a heavy meal then there is 240 and 480, those will take you above the heavens and outside of milkyway. Achara what your grandma had was something similar to sweet paan but they spit it out because of the the seeds which they grind it, when you chew on it will slowly choke your throat for you not to eat for few hrs, so people spit it out and its in red in colour.
Watching 2 people watching 2 people watching food😊 11:58
Pls more of videos from this channel. I really love them ❤
Thanks for reacting to this 💕
Achara, the paan u r referring here is the tobacco one which is not supposed to be swallowed. However, the paan they are eating in that food video is called "meetha paan" a sweet paan which is a mouth freshner people have after their meal and it is swallowed as it doesn't contain tobacco.
Achara is always right with her perfect information about india atleast. I love it already❤😊❤
Achara Beetle Leaf is Paan. Paan is made with Beetle Leaf and it does turn your mouth red. You have to keep chewing it till all the juices are out and you swallow it at the end. The one which you're supposed to swallow is a nicotine product that some men chew and spit (that also produces red colour in mouth).
Yeah, it's for me also. My mom love sweets a lot. And I like sweets but can't eat that much. Since childhood during festivals I took different types of sweet on my plate and at the end of the day i gave to my mom. It's like kind of remind me that's the limit of sugar or sweets you need in body not much 😅😅
Suggestions for what Andrew should try -
1. Pav Bhaji
2. Samosa chaat
3. Chhole kulche
4. Dahi puri
5. Lassi
7. Kulfi
8. Rabdi + Jalebi
9. Butter chicken with garlic naan
10. Mutton/chicken biryani
Just as you posted this, "Odd Compass" posted something you MUST look at: The Unmaking of India. Lovely infographic storytelling and elaboration of what you heard Shashi Tharoor say in his speech "Britain does owe India reparations".
Actually you can get the pan customised....it can be really Minty and sweet, but if u ask for less of sweet and mint it will taste mild.
Paan is swallowed. No problem. Does not have tobacco. Not addictive. It's not the tobacco variant that you are confused with. The leaves in Paan are different from the Tobacco variant or the betel leaf. Betel nut and leaf can be eaten without tobacco. But many prefer to add tobacco. And there are a lot of leaf varieties for both of them. Paan has its own recipe that varies according to the maker and items used. This Paan thing is an art in itself.
What Achara mentioned as the potato ball with Pav is Vada Pav
Andrew should also try Hyderabad Biryani, it's amazing
Andrew really missed it
Indian food will blow his mind.
Biriyani, Naan, dosa, chicken Tikka masala and sang paneer should be a must
In dessert jalebi rasgulla and jalebi ..
That's just Punjabi food. Let him come to Maharashtra and learn what spicy food actually means.❤❤
@@sumedhmayekar6580 rasgulla is from east bro....
All of india have exquisite food...I am bengali I could have mentioned all bengali dishes but for a foreigner who is very new to indian food may be overwhelmed ....so it's better to mention something that is indian famous and easily available in USA.
Achara get mad when he said Ranch 🤣🤣🤣🤣 same feeling here too Achara 🤣🤣🤣😁
Hi @cinedesi achara whatever you just said about beetle leave nuts and paste and your grandmother will chew on it the same happens in Tamil Nadu also
Andrew loves burgers I understand, so Andrew has to try Vada pav❤
Achara Paan are of 2 types tabacco and masala you have to spit the Tabacco the masala can simply be chewed.
Might end up getting Elephants foot 😂 Suran (Hindi) Yam (English)
You should post photos of the dishes as preparations of Indian food vary drastically in the US.....if authenticity is a factor
Sweet spicy and gone just like our exs .....achara killing itttt😅😂
That was written in the video.
@@aditisk99 yup😹
The potato in bread in Vada Pav, this is Pav bhaji (the first dish)
5:05 Thank you Achara. I never have thought like that.
Pan is very special and more types in India. They are not know how to chewing the pan 😢😢 if they know .. they loved it❤❤❤
3:00 that's Vada Pao. But in the video it's Pav Bhaji. Vada means potato. And Pao/Pav is bread/bun
at 8:45 you are right.. same in india too
like it started with that and became fancy instagram / mouth freshner thing lol
Achara was right about paan , it's exactly what you're grandmom are it's basically beetle leaves some lime paste and beetle nut some also add chewing tobacco to it and without tobacco sweet paan are served post dinner mouthfreshner
Pan is used after having lunch to digest your food in better way...its not a dish it's just a digestive mouth freshener which should be served last of all
Pav bhaji bhaji is mixer of 8 to 10 vegetables. Potato carrot beetroot flowercabige tomato onion beans peas green chilli eggplant
The aloo Patty you were talking about is Vada Pav maybe.
In the beginning what Achara is saying "potato fried thing with bread" I think she is referring to Aloo tikki stuffed between 2 bread piece, called tikki piece.
No she's talking bout vada pao
Acchara is so right about the Paan, but yes you can sollow the (meetha) sweet paan and not the ones which has tobacco in it .
I love it when I see Achara describing Indian things with soo much of love❤️ and trust me, your knowledge most of the time is on point
Andres should try Pav Bhaji, Sev Puri, Samosa, Pani Puri, Missal Pav, Pani Puri, Dhokla and for Dessert like Jalebi, Gulab Jamun, Rasgolla, Rasmali, Malai Sandwich
This will be enough😜
Pav = Bread bun
Bhaaji - Vegetables (even raw veg is called Bhaaji)
Wada/Vada = Round fried Fritter the smaller flat ones are called Vadi (feminine word)
So Pav Bhaaji seems to have been invented when a guy used all the vegetables that he had to make a dish when he had nothing else (rice and lentils etc) and gave bread bun along with it.. thats the invention part of it
Now both Wada Pav and Bhaaji pav are fast foods, but Wada pav is food on the move like a burger, where as for Pav bhaaji, one better sit and eat it
You can swallow the pan only there should not be any tobacco mixed with it. And you can ask the shopkeeper panwala to make a pan which you can eat which normally is called as MASALA PAN
Beetle leaves helps u get rid of dry cough. I've tried it
8:40 achara, that thing is called “supari” in local language..My dad also was addicted to it till quite sometime until my mom screamed and got him rid of it..😅
Masala DOSA, Samosa, Vada Pav, Pani puri ... etc ( Try Biriyani either in Chennai or Hyderabad)
Beetle leaves are good at maintaining blood sugar levels, best digestive
You can swallow the sweet paan or every other paans that sold in the streets except those with tobacco & these are only made on orders & have given specific numbers according to the type of ingredients
You can eat the bettle leaf no harm there. The paste your grandma put on top of it is not safe on large quantities. Even in Indian villages grandmas use that
6:05 lol they forgot to mention the main ingredient in Dahi puri Wtf? It’s literally in its name. For those of you wondering it’s basically topped with Curd/Yogurt
Pan comes in different flavors.. normal mouth freshener without sweetness... with sweetness.. and then start the flavors of tobacco.. so for normal and sweet no harm in swallowing them.. but yes tobacco 1 r not to be swallow they r to be spitted
I'm really curious about Achara's mother and grandmother way of living because many a times i found out that there is a resemblance of how an Indian thinks or live in a day to day life
That's vada pav, Achara ... this lady is wrong in the video with the description... u r correct @cinedesi 3:08
What Achara mentioned is called "Vada Pav".
Try "Ganesh Bhel" and "Haldiram" brands products. You will get all the authentic street food ingredients in there and all of it tasty.
you guys should try indian kheer its very tasty and sweet desert you guys will love it!! its so amazing well right now i'm having it!!yum!
3:00 that was called Vada pav that you were talking about achara
Achara that's vadapav you mentioned about in the beginning
Jalebi is the best breakfast I love it and I would recommend try warm jalebi with curd/ yoghurt.Achara try mitha or sweet paan that you would like .
I wonder why didn't provide a spoon along with the paav-bhaaji... I thought it was de rigueur these days.
I've found that the 'dahi' in the dahi puri also needs to be of good quality to get the best taste. Some places premix sugar in the curd.
I wish they had served the paan in the end though... I mean, she did say it was a "deegestive".
I love Gordon- I do. He is so refreshing but sometimes he talks over the video. I think thats cuz Achara controls the pause button. Please give him a pause button too.
Hajmola and paan are not kind of dish . It's digestion food and refreshing food which obviously suppose to not likable . It's categories are totally different .
You can eat and swallow paan...but it should be eaten after meal , it's good for indigestion, and mouth freshner..
I have already seen this video before you guys reacted 😊
Cant wait to see Andrew out try Indian food!!!
Here's the funny thing - Betel leaf is actually kind of good for you if eaten without betel nut or tobacco. Tobacco has very bad effect on your body. Sweet paan or the paan usually offered in weddings etc almost never contains tobacco. Roadside vendors also ask you for the variety you want. Basically if eaten without betel nut (supari) or tobacco, it can be and probably should be swallowed.
Andrew should try 'globe jamun' my favorite sweet🤤
Andrew should chew HAJMOLA 😂😂 ..
Achara looking awesome 😎❤❤
Rajma chawal, chana, paneer, aloo matha and etc.. if you are having roti then palek paneer and aloo methi..
I would love to see you guys try a south indian thali😊
Chhole Bhature
Pav Bhaji
Golgappa
Chicken/Mutton Biriyani
Butter chicken (Butter Naan)
Crispy Masala Dosa
Chaat (Paapdi, Aloo Tikki, Sev Puri)
Aloo Paratha
Egg-chicken roll (Kolkata style)
Dahi Vada
Achara what your grandmother had is the original paan...
Beetle leaf, Beetle nuts chopped, lime paste, catechu paste (red color) ...(maybe tobacco too)
And that's how original paan was
Not a street food : but Fish Mango curry and Beef fry from the kerala side .. must try,
PAA BHAJI with Tamoto recipe SUPERB 😊 and Bread with potato filling is called VADAPAW that's what ACHARA talking about 😅..
U gotta try Pav Bhaaji it's one of the best veg Street food... Also it's one of favourite dish of Chef Ranveer Brar he's a judge of MasterChef India one of the most popular chef in India
Try: Butter Chicken, Hyderabadi Biryani (chicken/Mutton), Chole Bhature, Masala Dosa
