- I spoke to Richard Haass, an American diplomat who was president of the Council on Foreign Relations from July 2003 to June 2023, prior to which he was director of policy planning for the United States Department of State and a close advisor to Secretary of State Colin Powell in the George W. Bush administration. We spoke about Donald Trump’s plan to take over Gaza, how other Middle Eastern countries might react, what guard rails could prevent him from doing this, and how it is a costly reminder that when you vote for a candidate you often get more than you bargained for.

If your OK with taking in Immigrants from Gaza & having them build a life in America or any Western Country then why not help them build a Life in Gaza? What Trump is proposing is is an actual solution to the issues in GAZA & building a real society & economy for Gazans while having an investment as well. America already sends Millions if not Billions to Gaza for Aid but it's obviously not going to make Gaza better just to throw cash at an issue. The UN has had all kinds of influence in Gaza & they've done NOTHING to solve this issue. America Investing in Gaza should be welcomed by Gazan Citizens & if they don't want it then so be it but they need to be the people that decide. There's also the fact that when you want help it has stipulations. People playing Politics with Gaza needs to stop & think about what's really best for these people. My question is why isnt neighboring Nations offering this kind of transformation of Gaza? Also if you want Gaza & Palestinians in General to be recognized there's no better way to do it than let America help rebuild & create a functioning Economy & stable Society. No one is talking about removing or transforming anyone's Culture although id imagine it might change a little naturally & citizens would welcome the change. If your really about helping Immigrants from these unstable countries then you should be in favor of helping them solve the issues in there own country. Now Gaza is unique because its small & something like this would be hard in bigger countries with functioning Governments & Societies. I don’t believe the intention is to “normalize”, trump and his cohorts in crime by not stating, the obvious fact for those who know The Constitution, everything
trump & musk have done, in these long two weeks, IS ILLEGAL. Many times situations are normalized by overstating key words repeatedly across media. I'm from Toronto, Canada. I went grocery shopping today. Every item and produce has now been labeled with the country of origin. Very few items on the shelves are from the US. People are checking carefully and buying non-US products and produce. The hurt of Canadians is running deep. The talk is that this is permanent. We are not going back. Permanent damage has been done with the insane Tariff war that was imposed by the US on Canada. Trust has been broken, and it will take a lot for the US to regain that trust.
But having said all this, it is nothing compared to the grief and agony of the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. The people of Gaza have gone through hell. Tens of thousand are buried under that rubble and died a horrible slow death, deliberately inflicted by Israel. The US is fully complicit in this genocide. I think this is entirely consistent with his branding thing. Go into this war torn area and clean it up turn it into a Trump World destination . ..complete with Dubai esque high rises state of the art casinos and of course golf course. I remember this kind of conversation when I was a young college student listening to Trump talk about making over New York locations..Penn Station..what problems the city had (1970’s) and how to remake it. To my ears at the time memorable. Decades later it is what my mother referred to as pie in the sky ideas..which she chided to do with family friend making money with various schemes…
