The most close ethnicity to Italians are Greeks. I met the coolest Italians during a summer trip in Mykonos. Boy are we alike. Loud, proud, family is everything, music, parties, 750 person weddings/300 person baptisms, if you hurt one of us, 75 of us are showing up in 10 minutes with baseball bats, talk with our hands, Fresh bread, EXTRA VIRGIN olive oil (not from Target), balsamic vinegar, sardines, cheese, olives, and a fine wine. PERFECTION!
I live on the Greek mainland. The Covid-19 situation is sucking the life out of people here. No one wants to do lunch with me. Ridiculous!

My aunt & uncle usually had us over for Passover when I was a kid. The only part of the ceremony I remember is that about 20 minutes in, my uncle would toss the Haggadah over his shoulder and say “oh the hell with this, let’s eat!” Every. Damn. Year.

I love watching Sebastian performs his shows, well written materials, voice acting and body language. He doesn't try to rush out 30 words in 5 seconds, to me it is a breath of fresh air among thousands of other youtube clips. He deserve to be 10 times more popular I believe.

Also A LOT of Jewish merchants in Sicilians ports. Jews had to convert to Catholicism under Spanish Rule in Sicily but retained customs and names. Many common Sicilian names are "Italian Jewish" and most Sicilians and Sicilian Americans don't know they have Jewish ancestry. It's very common and probably a subconscious reason why Jews and Sicilians tend to intermarry .

Sad to say NO...I visited Israel and learned enough to be polite. That was years ago and I forget it all. My brother went to school in Italy and I went to visit him. He speaks it fluently. Almost everyone in Rome speaks a little English.

I'm the same way, even though I know it's several years after your comment. I saw this exact clip on the Dave Rubin show around Passover, (2023, at that point. Now it's 2024 😉) and I thought, oh my gosh, I got to listen to this guy. Then I thought, where has he been hiding from me for all these years? I've been exclusively listening to Jim Gaffigan because he's pretty clean and hilariously funny. But yeah, ever since discovering him, I have listened to so much of his catalog because he's just amazing. Personally, I could do without the occasional cussing, but other than that, the man is just killer.

We discovered this guy on Showtime last week and cried laughing. We ve been watching him on RUclips ever since. From my hometown and I'm also son of immigrants, I relate so much. His material and delivery are super. We will see him live for sure. Don't remember last stand up to make me laugh that hard.

It's fish mixed with some kind of breading. You can make it from Northern Pike or probably catfish. you can buy it at the supermarket, usually during Passover, it's bathed in a gelatenous coating. It's very expensive and like Lutefisk, an aquired taste.

He's right about the Jewish food. My neighbor invited me to Passover and I graciously accepted. I read the literature with them (it was not two hours, maybe 45 minutes). Every type of food they had was soooo bland, literally no taste. Even the beef and carrots seemed to be "de-flavored." Worst food I ever had. I said nothing, smiled, thanked them for their hospitality and an education on their culture. When I got home, my girl and I were like Oh man, that was awful!
