  • Carb removal on a 1984 GL1200 Goldwing Aspencade. This was my first attempt and it was a lot easier than I expected. Hopefully this video will help somebody. I'm also intending on doing a video showing the stripping and cleaning of the carbs, and also a third video of replacing the carbs back on the bike.

    These three videos were very helpful in tackling and succeeding with the carbs on my 1984 Goldwing Standard. Thanks for putting it out there.

    Just got my Gold Wing like you 1984 just the other day! And my Gold Wing was filthy dirty ! I did not have to removed my crash bar! ! And I am truly blessed indeed and thankful for our USA 🇺🇸 California USA 🇺🇸 5-7-2020 and Sabre Cycle Raytown Missouri USA 🇺🇸 Gold Wing parts ! Super Rebuild Kit for all Carbs on Dusty... I left my coolant system all alone... leave the coolant alone! Throttle cables come off easily when the Manifold is released slidden to the Left of the Engine! Those vent tubes under the Intake Manifolds ! Easy does it Slip gentley that Pipe there! Finger is! Slips in and out o rings ! Leave the air pipe on it all comes out as one whole Manifold easy to service

    Same problem with my 1985 gl 1200 been off the road just over four years ,replaced the coils,ht leads and plugs have come to the same conclusion. I used one of the infra red spot handheld thermometers on the exhaust pipes and found two were at lower temperatures, pulled the plugs and found they were sooted so obviously running too rich ,I have the manual but seeing someone doing the job and the tips are very helpful thanks for making the video and posting it

      @@kyles280 take your time ... take your time ... take some pictures of what you're doing for the reassembly and really it's not that hard... it takes me 25 min. Now to take the whole carb bank out of the bike...
      Also i went the way some other vids describe to take away the secondary breathing system ... also known as the squid of fuck#ing rubber tubing that always are in the way when you want your carbs out... it makes the operation 10 times easier and the bike is running better...

    Thanks for taking the time to post this video... It's excellent. the carb removal looks like a daunting task until someone sees your video and then realizes is easy peasy.. why I even think Jeremy Clarkson could do it after seeing your video LoL

    Great video, my 84 is cutting back as well, bowls have never been removed or cleaned, I think some trash has gotten in the main jet, but this isn't as bad as I assumed it to be, see my video on removing the engine to replace the stator, Again Great job and video.

    I am looking at. A 1984 gold wing aspincad that has been converted to 4 carb to one carb what do you think about that switch

    • @n4zou
      @n4zou 3 года назад

      That's the best modification you can make on a Goldwing. It cures so many problems. A Solex single barrel carburetor used on air cooled VW engines works fine. Next up is a Holley-Weber 5200 2 barrel carburetor with a mechanical progressive system. It uses just one barrel until 3/4 throttle opening and then between 3/4 to full throttle the second barrel opens. It gives economy when you're just riding and gives a performance boost when you crank the throttle open.

      2 allen bolts on the sides of the seat about three quarters of the way back and the front has a finger that slides out to the rear.
