OK for everyone confused by this recording, I have the actual answer. This is not Django Reinhardt. It was recorded by group called The Faux Frenchman in Cincinnati in 2007. It was a mimic of Django's style and processed to sound like the recording was an old 78. I hope this helps. :)

Many people will tell you that you're lesser than them for having heard of this music through a game. I say, what does it matter? Not all great minds know where to look for great music, they know how to recognize it. Thank God that amazing game has acquainted more people with the soothing, jazzy tones of Mr. Django Reinhardt!

For those who are interested, the song It Had to Be You was originally written in 1924 by Isham Jones, with lyrics by Gus Kahn. Since then, versions of the song have been written by other musicians, such as Billy Holiday and Frank Sinatra. As for whether or not this version was played by Django Reinhardt, I can't really say since I've never listened to his other music.

Yup, Mr.House was also HEAVILY inspired by Hughes. Even went so far as to recrate a famous picture of Hughes standing in front of an airplane his company built, except the picture is Mr.House standing in front of the legs of Liberty Prime. Ryan is also made reference to in a Gun Runner Arsenal challenge called "A Slave Obeys", which is completed by killing House with a 9-iron or Diver Nephi's golfclub.

In defense, games like Bioshock (wherein this song is featured) often organize their soundtracks with that nostalgic aspect in mind. In spite of the more gruesome aspects of the game, Bioshock has a very sentimental and idealistic storyline, which hearkens back to and is set in the 1960s. It's no surprise that inhabitants of a "high class city" such as Rapture in the 1960s would enjoy classy and powerful music, and the fact that it reels in young listeners is powerful enough already.

In one world, a man chose to be reborn again to forget the killing he wrought and build a city in the skies. In another world, the same man is consumed by the guilt of killing and refused rebirth to acknowledge and atone for his murders, and become a lawman. And in another, the same man, consumed by the guilt of unwittingly killing his own people refused the rebirth and clung to his roots. One died in a baptismal fount. One drowned in a river. and One was crushed in the oceans surrounding a City. That man was Zachary Hale Comstock and that man was Booker DeWitt.
"Constants and Variables. We swim in different Oceans, but land on the same Shore." -Elizabeth, Bioshock Infinite
Not that much a stretch of the imagination that in one world Andrew Ryan was consumed by hatred of the governments that control and regulate control of the creative natures of man for the sakes of The Poor, of God, of The People and envision a society where the creative potential was free and unchained of these, united by a Great Chain of Commerce and Progress. In another he was Django Reinhardt.

same goes for guitar hero, i see kids listening to all kinds of great artists because of it: jimi hendrix, king crimson, sonic youth, the pixies, rush, creedence clearwater revival, even johnny cash. videogames are an artform if you think about it. in my eyes, art is the practice of "painting an image that conveys a feeling or thought". and seeing as videogames are interactive, it is one of the most immersive artforms out there. paintings->photos->film->animation->videogames= art's evolution.
